  • I’m a Maori kiwi and my whanau all lives in Aussie and we have a family of over 70 of us and only 3 have been deported and they have history or murder and gang affiliation. I’ve been to Aussie plenty of times and I don’t believe this is wrong at all. When you go somewhere you don’t have the right to enter unless your gonna better the place and not spread your poison. These people committed crimes against people in Aotearoa and hurt our country so Aussie has every right to not want these bastards infecting theirs. Sounds stupid because I’m a kiwi but what’s right is right. All yous saying kaka trying to state anyone can go anywhere you try living under the same roof as people who have bashed and hurt innocent people and try sleep knowing your children and elderly are at their mercy. We need to take a page out of their book. These scum ain’t no kiwi I call brother or sister so hang em out to dry

    • Absolutely, everyone is so full of white guilt nowadays, and react off of feelings as opposed to LAW, or even respecting their own country. Its simple, respect the culture and laws, or get out, I always thought that was common sense. We have the same thing trying to take place over here in the U.S. but luckily people are waking up to this, although our problem isnt' with kiwis per se. Our are simply with other cultures coming over here, and banging white guilt into everyones heads for shit that happened hundreds of years ago, and FORCING their culture onto our children, schools, cities, police departments, and attempting to do it in our government as well. I hope this whole age of victimhood comes to a close shortly, because the people with common sense see how ridiculous all of this is, and they're getting angry. I don't condone violence of any sort, but jesus, how much can people sit back while people call their own country terrible, as well as their people, trying to force everyone to be apologetic, and admit how "bad" of a person they are. God help us.

  • As a Kiwi living in Hawaii I don't see a deportation issue. If you break the law, you pay the price. Australia doesn't hv to abide by anyone else's rules. It's called the right of sovereignty. The Anzac pact is fragile and non-binding and, as such, should not be held up as some kind of privileged protection. Canada and the USA, while sharing the friendliest border respect each other's sovereignty! E tu e hoa me te kaha me te pono!

  • The first person violently assaulted their spouse to the point they ended up in the hospital, only served 8 months for a crime that could've seriously handicapped his spouse and/or traumatized her for life, in a country he's not a citizen of, and we're supposed to feel sympathy for him being deported? To New Zealand? Even the outlaw MC member has more room for sympathy than him in my book, and it was still literally fair for that person too to be deported, if the government literally said they could be deported for being part of an outlaw bikie gang. The guy saying "They're New Zealand citizens, they're not Australian Citizens" was just speaking facts. Keep in mind this is Australia, a country whose government seems to be on the news for Xenophobia and being anti-Migrant/anti-Refugee. That is to say, if they're willing to deport someone back to a much more dangerous/poorer/worse off country for such a crime, then where's the human rights issue with sending an NZ citizen back to New Zealand?

  • Im an Australian and have lived in Dubai and also Singapore for the last 11 years. I always remember that I am a guest in these countries and a representive for my country Australia. I don't argue with their laws, religious beliefs or political moves. I love both Dubai and Singapore and am thankful to even step foot in these countries because they made my life better. How stupid Would I have to be to abuse and complain about a country that gives me a better life? These people deserve to be deported. They didn't appreciate how amazing Australia is. Singapore has very simular rules. And it's these strong rules that makes all immigrants like myself act correct

    • @Shane McDowall Not enough to give them a pass IMO. They have deported folks who have never set foot on their islands, who spent their entire lives in Aotearoa, who have no support system at all on their island. It was NZ's educational, justice and institutional systems that contributed to shaping their decisions. I'm not saying deportation can't be an option ever. I just think that if you do it to others you don't have the basis to complain about another country doing it to your citizens. And the "bad character" thing was only 1 example

      @zainabamadahy9918@zainabamadahy99185 жыл бұрын
    • @Shane McDowall For me this discussion raises the issue of what goes into the making of criminal behaviour. I don't have all the answers but it's clear that gender, economic and racial equity play a huge role as do the availability of culturally appropriate community supports. The other question is what turns criminal behaviour around and that too is a complex issue which deportation, in and of itself, does not resolve. Although keeping people safe is a strong and popular argument, I'm not sure that foisting someone who you believe to be dangerous on another population is the most ethical response. At the same time, as someone who is a US citizen living in Canada, I don't feel I have the moral high ground on this issue at all. Both countries have abysmal deportation and migrant practices. My only point here is NZ doesn't exactly have the moral high ground over Australia either.
