Ringling Brother's Big Cats (Tigers and Lions) show

Ringling Brother's Big Cats (Tigers and Lions) show. It’s amazing to see how humans and big cats can build natural bond. This show was at American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX.
Ringling’s circus tigers finally have a retirement home. "15 of those Ringling tigers had arrived at their new home: a Tennessee sanctuary called Tiger Haven, where they are now living out their years on a wooded, 45-acre refuge alongside more than 250 other big cats retired from performing groups, relinquished by zoos or rescued from private owners."

Do you really think wild predator animals have the same authority Than dogs and cats? 😓😓😓 Even for an OWL! You need special paper and trainings even if you want a snow owl which is smaller Than the rest… do you understand how serious and strict the dangerous wild Predator animals keeping? You need special documents and training + the goverment check their health at every time…

Can we all just agree that animals' emotions can be very hard to read directly from their mannerisms, and instead infer from context, collective human knowledge and basic common sense that they are in fact stressed, miserable and exhausted from being violently forced to train and perform?

    @ShadowNinetales@ShadowNinetales10 ай бұрын
    • One thing is sure! If those big cats would be stressed then they would alread hunt that man! Also it is not a case to beat animals not the wild ones!!! Their legalizations very strict and hard and they check the wild animals (goverments) them at every time! They are not beated or drugged or electroshocked lol… 1. They would be more aggressive 2. The local goverments have the maximal strict laws about wild animals… + they are endangered!

    • I think a drug is used for animals

      @AG-je6ul@AG-je6ul2 жыл бұрын
    • I don't know where you got that, but they don't drug the cats. That would get exactly the results they *don't* want. Remember, well-fed cats are lazy by instinct. They don't want to bother getting up and performing. The trainer's biggest concern isn't to prevent them from attacking; it's to get them to jump around on cue instead of lazing around doing nothing. Because cats' natural instincts are to hunt only when they're hungry, and save their energy the rest of the time, exactly as most warm-weather carnivores do. So the trainer doesn't want to sedate the cats; they're naturally plenty relaxed already, and the trainer's challenge is to get them moving. But he can't get them moving with any kind of drug that would wake them up, because that would also risk making them unpredictable. The last thing a trainer wants in the ring is an unpredictable cat, one whom he can't trust to keep doing the same thing over and over again, eight shows a week. Drugs of any kind would make unpredictable behavior much more common; and the kind of drugs that would do what the trainer's aiming for in the first place (make them more active and less lazy) would be even worse. They can't take that kind of risk. It's much easier to just use their voice and the cues from the whip -- which, by the way, never touches them unless they attack and it's needed to save a life; it's there as a pointer, to cue the cats which way to go -- to get the cats moving and doing what they're supposed to.

Its doesn't look like the friendly bond between animals and human. They look terrified, angry and scared at the same time. Its disgusting and sad to see how people are still supporting this.

      @saideepreddy9922@saideepreddy99222 жыл бұрын
    • There is always a risk with the great cats. Any trainer will tell you that no matter how well they are habituated, lions are still lions, and there's no tamer who ever lived who didn't have close calls at times. Every one I've ever heard of have scars from actual attacks that they survived. But the cats don't *usually* attack, and they're certainly trained often to pretend they're being aggressive when they're really just performing as instructed. I guarantee you in this video, the tamer wasn't in real danger when the lioness snarled and snapped at him, for example, because when he'd backed her up to her seat, he took his eyes off her to make a joke to the audience about it. A seasoned circus performer might certainly make a joke about a narrow escape in order to make it look like part of the performance and keep the crowd from being truly alarmed, but he would have kept his eyes firmly on the disobedient cat while he did it. He would never have turned to the audience while an unruly lioness whom he'd just settled down resumed her place behind him. There have been many real injuries and some deaths from the cats; most in rehearsal, a few in performance. These are living animals, they have moods, and there is always, always a chance on any given day that one will decide to act up. But most of the time when it *looks* like a cat is acting up, it's just because that's what they've been trained to do as part of the show.

    • @Paramount 7P Probably not -- don't mistake their thought process for anything like that of humans. They're creatures of feeling and instinct, not thought. Often, when one cat in the ring acts up, the others will also, because their behavior makes the others edgy and stressed. But they don't treat it like a linear thought process: "they're acting angry at the person I like/therefore that person is in danger/therefore I have to stop them." It's more like the others see distress or irritability signs and they don't know why; they feel tension coming from their trainer and don't know why that's happening either, and they're watching things happen in the ring that they know shouldn't be happening but they've got no idea what has pulled their world off its axis or how to get it back. They can't logically figure out that protecting their trainer would be useful. They just know that everything is going wonky and everybody around then is upset, and so it upsets them too, enough that they can lash out at anyone including their trainer, just from anxiety and confusion. All of that means that a cat in the same ring with one who's acting up is actually more likely to be a second threat to the trainer than they are to be his champion. Not because they're mad at him, because they're freaking out and don't know what to do, and an upset lion or tiger lashes out at anybody nearby. This is one of the reasons a cat trainer's first line of defense is to get all the cats sitting in their individual places, and as quickly as possible. Every single day, they practice the 'place' command... not because the cats haven't long since learned it perfectly, but so that obeying it will be absolute ingrained and almost automatic. That does two things: first, it means the trainer can much more quickly get control back over a disobeying cat (even if they've blown off an order, they're much less likely to blow off *that* order); and second, it means that all the *other* cats see that the trainer has restored dominance over the disobedient cat and everything is again the way it should be, so they are more likely to stay calm. If you're interested in the psychology of cat work, check out the book _Tiger, Tiger_ by Charly Baumann. He was Ringling Brothers' cat expert long before this video, and he worked with lions for the first part of his career and mostly tigers for the second, and built the classic Ringling cat act which this one is based on. It explains a lot about how they're trained and what you can and can't count on them for.

    • It's the showman's choice to do this. The animals fear that whip for it's the same the same weapon he uses for training. How ever, one mistake and he's done. You can see how they are growling and hitting the weapon ? They are looking for a wrong move so they can pounce on him. I don't understand how parents can bring their children to see this. I've seen them attack the trainer..

These animals are beat and even deprived of food if they don't perform or learn these rediculous tricks they are making them do!!!!! These beautifull magnificent creatures belong in the wild!!!!! They are clearly not happy doing this!!!
