  • Dune 2 is a masterpiece. A masterclass in filmmaking. every single frame in this movie is jaw dropping. Greig Fraser is one of the greatest DOP of our time, a true master of lighting. watching Dune 2 was like witnessing an astronomical event, something similar to a solar eclipse. It literally felt like i was transported to Arrakis. Thank you boys for this amazing interview 🤌. Every single department in this film has given the movie industry and cinema lovers a masterclass in film making. A hollywood blockbuster that feels like an indie movie at times.

Of course his work on Rogue One and the Batman and Dune is incredible but I also love how he shot Lion. If you haven't seen Lion go watch it right now.

I'd love to see a spinoff from that movie digging deeper into Scoot McNairy and Ben Mendelsohn's characters. I LOVE those 2 actors in practically everything they're in.

  • It‘s just a crime, that there is still no 4K UHD of Dune Part One with the enhanced aspect ratio for the IMAX scenes! 😢😢😢 Watched both Dune parts last week in IMAX (incl. 1:1.43) and it was the best cinematic event I‘ve ever had! Now all I‘m wishing for is Messiah and of course the enhanced aspect ratios for the home releases. Every Nolan release has it (also Warner), so why not the spectacular Dune masterpieces? I just don’t get it! 🤯

  • Not to take away at all from Denis, but the way Fremen ride the worm and the reason the worm doesn't descend below the sand is all described in detail in the books. Denis' visualization of it is genius, but the ideas and the physicality of the worm avoiding sand-bourne irritation was invented by Herbert pre-1965. What was absolutely novel in Dune Part 2 was the realization of the sensitive tissue of under the rings. Incredible visual storytelling.

  • Dreams are really important in the world of Dune and this movie is the result of Denis Villeneuve dreaming about it for almost 40 years since he first read the book when he was 13 years old. Ideas and experiences that are really personal are a great recipe for great cinema and this movie feels as personal as it can get. All the quiet and intimate moments in between moments among the characters, when we can literally hear the sound of the wind transport us to the beautiful sunsets and binary eclipses of Arrakis 🌑.

  • Masterpiece is probably the most over used term in our society today. These films are mediocre at best. Denis gets the story wrong. I'm convinced he didn't read the books. The cast is terrible for the most part. Even with the good actors they got in under utilized roles. Zendaya and Chalamet are especially bad. Neither feel like they fit this universe and have zero chemistry. The film is shot well and has impressive visuals, but ultimately feels drab, lifeless, and less vibrant than Lynch's version. Yeah, a "masterpiece"? Definitely not.
