Arizona Ghostriders I made two or three different styles you probably have to search around to find the one that you like best but I enjoy wearing a shoulder holster holds my gun down better when I’m riding horses and when I’m hunting But my favorite holsters Crossdraw waste great for riding my Harley
@@r.french4415 Thanks for the info!
@@r.french4415 Agree-- I carry crossdraw as well. It's not as fast as 'strong side' carry, but I find it allows me good access to my firearm with either hand-- especially when driving
@@jmmartin7766 I know this is an old reply. Just wanted to say recently started carrying a cross draw holster. It conceals real good under just a t-shirt and allows as quick a draw for me as strong side. To me it's more advantageous to draw while sitting so it's good standing, too.
There is a show today in town I got me a speed leather holster by Ernie Hill
In my opinion, a shoulder holster is one of the coolest ways to hold a revolver.
Definitely is.
A shoulder holster is one of the coolest ways to hold any gun
Man, Tombstone was such an AWESOME movie. Val Kilmers best yet..
Nah. That was Heat.
I know it is a great movie. I have the movie I have the book I have the poster I have the script and for autographed pictures. ❤️
@@PalmettoNDN nah tombstone
That banana... Are you trying to tell us that you're ready for gorilla warfare?
HA! With my potasium canon!
Awesome video yet again! I found this channel via Red Dead 2, but have always loved western movies and the general history of the old west. I'm trying to convince my wife that we need to head out west with the kids, from Indiana and explore. Thanks for keeping the history of these times alive!
You're welcome! There's so much to see out west. Gotta go.
Shoulder holsters, everything I needed to know about something I didn’t know I needed to know, ya know? 😊 This show makes me want to time travel! So cool
You probably didn't need to know. But now you know. Ya know?
I know!!
You would be wanting to travel back to the present the moment you use some toilet paper that was not splinter-free.
Alvin Sanchez lol probably so
The outhouses alone would prevent me from going. I had an Uncle who did not put in modern plumping in his farm. Using the outhouse always freak me out. His well was large enough that if it was horizontal you could drive a bus through. I had nightmares I would fall in the large gaping hole.
"These shoulder holster rigs were awkward to draw from." So much so that it cost John Wesley Hardin his freedom. While on a train he was jumped by Texas Rangers, and in a last ditch effort to shoot his way out, tried to pull a gun from the shoulder holster inside his jacket but the gun got snagged on his suspenders.
Thanks Cindy!
I never knew it was a shoulder holster he was drawing from! Cool.
I take it he wasn't wearing a vest?
IIRC Hardin had his pistols in rig somewhat like the "Antibellam" vest in the vid. Surprised in his seat by deputies, he jumped up, shouting "Texas, by God!", and drew both guns, only to have them caught up in his suspenders... as he struggled, the sherrif reached over and cold-cocked him with his Colt. Hardin was then carried off, unconscious, to jail.
Shoulder rig that fits a banana clip...
It's a-peeling.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Groan! haha!
@@ArizonaGhostriders 😃😃
Gerry Adams lol
Good Lord! 😂
I actually prefer shoulder holsters. I would love to see the process of making one. Awesome history as always.
Thank you and that's cool you have a shoulder holster!
@Howie Felterbush If I make one (which I'm sure I will) there will be a lot of fitting. The one in the video is not really comfortable for me.
Can't wait for when you make yours. Your leather craft is good. :)
Thank you!
Santee, thanks for sharing this video, it was informative for me. I didn't know the shoulder holster was that prevalent back in the mid 1800's. I'm looking forward to watching more exciting/informative videos on the "Wild West". Thanks again. Stan
You're welcome!
I'm a big fan of shoulder rigs been wearing them for years
Awesome!
I've got that doc holiday shoulder rig from El Paso saddlery. I love it.
@james colvin Still making high quality gun leather to this day, I have three of their complete rigs. Expensive as all hell though
Got a rig there in the late 90s. Excellent quality.
I made one for a 1911 a while back I plan on doing a couple more soon! Thanks for the push Santee!
You're welcome!
photo-bombed by the Mrs !!! ha ha ha Fantastic !! … and I like how you are discreetly placing the AG logo inside the vids now.... I counted 2 this morning . Its like finding hidden "Mickeys" at Disneyland :-)
HA!
Doc will always be the best
I wear one most every day, didn't know they went back that far, thanks.
It's like you're reading my mind Santee! I'm going to try my hand at making my first shoulder rig too. Found some pretty good pics of Val Kilmer's rig and I might have to give it a go!
Go for it.
Send pictures too.
As a fellow leatherworker and a recent gun owner. (Own three now) I am fascinated by unique holster design! This is inspiring thanks Santee and the GR!
You're welcome!
Always been a fan of sholder holsters. Something about the elegance of them. For my Schofield I had one made by LondonJacks and was really impressed with the quality and comfort of it.
Cool!
@Stuckgrenadepin Yeah, the Victorian era was largely formal in that sense. Coats are great for conealing firearms.
That would definitely be fun to make.
Lotta strap leather...
Carrying a banana is useful for tripping your enemy and it’s nutritious as well.
It's an appeeling item.. :-)
As Yosemite Sam will tell you.
Perhaps you should defend against the holstered banana with a 16-ton weight on his head... kzhead.info/sun/Z66gkrOjg5aIlH0/bejne.html
A preacher I knew was also a fireman. When the police in his small town walked out, he was made a police man. One of his church members told him he should carry a banana because it would be easier to eat...I don't think she thought he was cut out to be a cop.
Hey Thanks Santee To See Dr Holiday makes Me Happy🤩🖐
I liked the ending with Mrs. Santee. I mean like we hope it was Mrs. Santee...
HA! Yes, it was.
A friend told me about this video. I am from Ocala Fl. And have lived here my entire 65 years. It was cool seeing your Six Gun Territory shirt. I practically lived there as a kid. I had neighbors who worked there and I got to meet many of the stars from the old western TV shows.
I lived in Cocoa Beach and went there frequently, too. It helped fuel my interest in the Old West. Miss that place!
You gotta love all the Hollywood movies where a pistol makes a guy fly 3,000 feet through the air like he was fired from a circus canon.
Yup
The end was so wholesome!
😀
Awwww...how sweet! That was a kewl ending.
Thank you!
I was waiting for Santee to duct tape the banana to the wagon behind him in the opening sequence! Love the old photo to new photo transition, Santee. I'm sure that it took some time to produce, but I appreciate it.
I've done it a few times before. It's called a "Luma Fade". Glad you like it.
It's always about tombstone with you! Thanks i really liked this one.
Not always, but so many who watch this channel believe it to be the quintessential western movie. So I put clips in for you all. You're welcome.
@@ArizonaGhostriders just kidding you i love that movie.
Being a Black Powder enthusiast i tend to lean toward The Outlaw Josie Wales as the quintessential cowboy movie. However Tombstone is its equal. Thanx for all the great content.
ARE YOU KIDDING?... I always learn something every time I watch. 👍
Good!
My absolute favorite carry position. Wear one every day.
Nice!
Love that historic specimen and the intricate details you covered on it!
Thanks. As you know, it's really fun to get an existing piece.
Kilmer's rig was a cross between a shoulder holster and a belly gun. Very cool, as befit his performance.
It was definitely a useful rig.
In less than 4 minutes what I know about Old West shoulder holsters has been quadrupled!
Great information as always. I wear a shoulder rig now for concealed carry. I love Doc's rig.
That great history lesson and not a single huckleberry reference? I'm dissapointed! Well Doc was there for a bit, so I guess that will have to do!
Feel like I do those references too much!
Great episode. I might have to look at this shoulder stuff. Cute model there at the end.
Thank you!
I think I remember reading that almost everything invented in the "wild wild west" was because of necessity. Very cool presentation of the product/tool they used in the West, as always great video.
They were very practical.
Hi Santee congrats on passing 46k that's incredible and very well deserved, these definitely looked more comfortable and less akward then waist ones..thanks mate
You're welcome, man!
@@ArizonaGhostriders 🙂
Hey Santee! Could you make a video about how people in the old west dealt with/recovered from illnesses and infections? I'm guessing it would've been awful without antibiotics. Thanks for all the videos you do! Absolutely love em!
I did one on diseases. Check it out.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Awesomesauce! Found it! "Epidemics in the old west"
Nothing like dueling bananas ! It reminds me of a movie I tink !
LOL!
I can not explain why but the pause to eat the banana had me in stiches lol
LOL!
Happy Saturday. Another good video I see. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much for this video. It's very nice for friends in the East to know exactly how it was in the Wild Wild West. How they lived so only from your videos I learned. Thank you again Santee and Dirty Dan.
You're welcome!
really do enjoy and learn from your content ! keep up the good work
Thank you!
Thank you, Santee
You're very welcome
“I’m gonna need you to drop the banana sir”
"Now you got me for littering, too."
That's what she said.
This videos are the highlight of the week, I always wait for the upload. Can you make a video about gold mining/prospecting? What kind of gear and equipment they had? Thank you.
Yes, I can!
As always, a great way to wake up and start the day.
Had some time to binge watch! Awesomenessity.
I like that word, Pony!
You made me jealous getting that kiss!
Thanks, one of my favorite rigs to wear, have single and doubles, mostly for my 1911’s and 1873, 3” birds heads. ❤️👍🏼🤠
Cool!
Another great one! Loved the info, You rock Santee!
Thank you!
Great video y’all. Really enjoyed the extra added comedy.
Thank You!
Very neat. I absolutely loved The Doc Holiday played by Val Kilmer. Thank you for another fun and informative video. Diane.
You're welcome, Diane.
The SAA with the Arizona Ghostriders logo on the grips looked so awesome. Love it. I know it was just done with video processing, but real grips like that would rock. :D
Hmmm....not a bad idea!
I've always thought a shoulder rig would be great for anyway sitting while riding or driving. Great episode AND sealed with a kiss! Ha!
Yes! Thanks for the tanker pic
@@ArizonaGhostriders Glad to do it.
From what I've read, the crossdraw is the most convenient on horseback, but you are correct that the shoulder holster is the easiest to draw from seated in an automobile.
I look forward to your Videos every week.
Thank you!
OMG! Loving it! Thank You!
You're welcome!
Hi john my friend hope you are well another interesting video love the editing thanks for sharing some amazing guns so glad they sorted theses shoulder hosilters out they seemed very uncomfortable take care John another like 👍
Thank you!
Yayyy I waited all week for a new video!!! :)
yay!
Love that skeleton rig. Tres` practical!
Oui!
That was a mighty cute lady kissin' ya, Santee. She must like your shoulder holster. Great video. That skeleton shoulder holster makes me leary. The animation of it falling out of the holster would be enough for me to look for something more secure.
Thanks 👍 I think with shoulder holsters you just have to find the right fit for you.
Thanks for that. I would love to see ya record the manufacturing of such a rig.
Thinking seriously about it.
hi matey, dave here from England, love the vids & the info.i've learnt much more bout the old west...keep the vids coming Lads.....
Glad you like them!
Interesting. I have a h+r 32 top break just like that one. May have to break out the leather once again. Thanks for sharing!
Love these.... another great one
Thank you!
Man am I glad to have found this channel.
Thank you!
That's the holster style I have been trying to find! I cannot for the life of me find a holster set on the belly aside from old leatherworkers whose work is beyond my earnings.
Good luck! Maybe find someone who has one and make a pattern from it.
Ok the clip holster was a new one for me. Going have to do some more research into that one. Great content as always.
Thank you!
Awesome video! I can't wait to see the next one
Thank you!
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Love the Six Gun Territory shirt !!!!!!
Me too! That place had special meaning to me. Having the shirt Jim Pierce sent me is amazing.
I went there when I was 5 years old in 1978. I'm going to try to make it to the reunion weekend in February.
AWESOME ! Yes please do make a shoulder holster that would be cool to watch ! Loved that kiss at the end Santee :-)
Much appreciated, Bill.
Thank you, so much knowledge. thank you.
You are very welcome
Great video santee always having great content 😄
Thank you!
Informative and humorous.
Thank you!
Great as Ever !!!!!
Thank You!
Darn fine rig you got there compodre 🤠
Thank you!
Two reasons I watch this channel: one, I'm a history nut and like the content, and two, will Santee get to say his line, or will someone steal it? *dramatic music*
Heehe
Good looking new cast member there at the end, Santee! Keep up the ... good work ...
Thank you!
I've got 2 Galco shoulder holsters. Great to use when wearing a suit. Carry my SIG P-229. May have to get one for my Colt SAA.
Cool!
Lived in globe Arizona back in the 80s I made one for myself and all my friends wanted one I ended up making about 10 of them pretty handy and very comfortable to wear
I have to make one and see.
Nice one, informative and entertaining.
Thank you!
Great info. I'm actually really surprised that you have not made a shoulder holster yet. I'm looking forward to that video for sure.
I really don't find them comfortable. But it's good to have, so I'll make one.
Hey man great video keep it up!
Thank you!
This was actually pretty cool and awesome to learn about thank you for making this video and I've definitely just subscribe to learn more
Glad to hear it.
Can you make a video about women's fashion in the old west? Love your channel, there isn't another on KZhead like it. Very informative and to the point!
Thank you and I will. In the meantime, I did an interview with Odessa Red, who sheds some light on the subject.
@@ArizonaGhostriders nice one, thanks!
Great video Santee loved it 👍😎🤠🐎🥃🍻👊🤠 That was a great subject 👍🤠 How many guns did Clint Eastwood Carry in the movie The Out Law Josey Wales ?🤔 I'll have to watch it again 🐎🤠 I like the new 🙊🙉 you added to the show in the beginning 😂🤣 🤠 LATTER PARD 🤠 🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅
Like....3 right?
I would say Rick O'Connell's Double shoulder holster rig is my favorite Shoulder Holster design.
Cool. Don't know it, but will look it up
@@ArizonaGhostriders if it helps, the character is played by Brendan Fraser in The Mummy (1999)
Another great item boys.As a matter of interest.Ben Thompson was from Yorkshire,England,as i recall, and his brother Billy was also a gunfighter.
Yes on both accounts. Billy got into a heap of trouble and Ben always had to get him out of it. Ben Thompson and another gunman, John Kingfisher, were ambushed in a theater.
Several people below commented about making their own rig. Yes do it. I started 11 years ago watching a few youtube vids. The very first one was a 19th century cartridge belt and drop loop holster and was lovely. Of course now they are art. Leather is very forgiving, and at least mine are always beautiful. Hint: Springfield Leather from good ol Springfield MO. has good vids here. I get all my stuff from them. Tandy does vids to. Also I didn't buy any tools to do my first pieces. I hand sew so a machine isn't req and the results are better. I used the tools I had.
Thanks! Springfield does do some good vids.
Really liked the historical side of this, Thx for the vid, An Oh Btw, the ending cracked me up, She literally stole your show, lol.
Yep!
Casa Grande Arizona in the house
Welcome!
She stole the show, Santee😆
She does.
Informative topic. Now do I need one for my costume? Yes.
LOL!
Great video SANTEE SMASHED THE THUMBS UP
Thank you!
Well, Santee, at least you got a kiss out of someone stealing your tagline this time, though a kiss from her is probably better than Dan or Batjac, lol. As a kid, I always wanted the Miami Classic rig worn by Don Johnson in Miami Vice, to go along with a suit in the style he wore as Crockett that I got for Christmas one year. I even had knock offs of the Raybans and a toy Bren 10 that I could have put in it, but never got it. It cost too much to get a leather shoulder rig for a cap gun, lol.
LOL!!!
What a crazy wild show it was! Until Miami Vice premiered I never saw a TV series like that. Something in the Air tonight by Phil Collins. "Mr Real Estate" played by G. Gordon Liddy. The smugglers Blues by Glen Fry of The Eagles. Lives In the Balance by Jackson Brown. Elvis the alligator (another dinosaur). Don Johnson carried that shoulder rig over to the Nash Bridges series.
@@stevenlein4772 "I Don't Care Anymore" by Phil Collins was also on the show's soundtrack. He and Fry also appeared as characters on the show, as well as contributing to the soundtrack.
@@stevenlein4772 And a funny story - I was so taken by Miami Vice that I bought my first keyboard (FM synth) - I play piano, it was/is a Yamaha DX-7 - the sound of the 80's LoL - And ummm I still have that board and it STILL sits on the board stand, and I still record with it! And it is as solid as when I bought it all those years ago! ....The Mr. Real Estate episode gave me cold shivers knowing who Liddy really was - he was just playing himself- pure pure evil. Can you feel it... com'n in the air tonight??? Oh Lord.....
Thank you
You're welcome!
