Is this the new middleweight sportsbike king? I take the bike out on the roads and autobahn to get a better first impression of this new 2024 middleweight sportsbike, but is it more sports-tourer than sportsbike?

  • 3 minutes in and this guy already told me more important things about the bike that 3 other "professional" reviewers couldn't in a whole video. All because you have balls to talk about what's bad and are not invited on the press launch where you only have to talk standard mellow positives about whichever the bike. Also, great sound recording. Still want this Daytona 660 so bad.. too bad no triumph dealerships in my country

    • I picked up my Daytona last Saturday. It’s a very solid bike. The engine is sounds great, the power delivery is great and the throttle response is great. The suspension is fine, adjustable would be better obviously but I don’t have any real complaints so far with the Showa SFBP forks it comes with. They’re fairly stiff and there isn’t a ton of dive under hard braking. This bike is easily one of the best choices in the category on par with the rs660 and cbr650r. Had a guy stop and jump out of his car to ask me about the bike last night while I was eating some food outside a local burger spot. It’s a real head turner.

      @justin2956@justin2956Ай бұрын
    • I echo that - the forks are great, and it stops really well. For me the engine is a real peach, I'd love to map it, and put a pipe on it, even though I appreciate that it's specifically intended to be 95hp exactly.

  • I've tested mine and I'm 100% sure Triumph is limiting the bike in many ways or has setup the gearing in such ways for the bike to be... friendlier and have better emisions as it's one of the selling points on their website I'm sure some changes in the mapping will give it quite a change, the fact that you can feel like its tamed in a way lets me know that the bike has some magic waiting to be uncovered by a flash to the ECU, or maybe we will see a 660RS with a different frame and commodities with the full potential of the engine since it's clear that it has way more to offer

  • The 95% throttle thing could be due to the bikes ECU still in bed in mode. Don't know if that's a thing on this bike, but we had a Ford Focus 1.6 Ecobeast that could barely reach it's required speed for some things we had to do with it. Once it reached 2000km, it was "unhooked" The mirror thing tbh is not a problem of the bike, but more with the preparation. I also had my fair share of unpleasant experiences with certain workshops I won't call out. Apart from the very narrow profile of the Daytona, I really like it. It's a shame, they didn't have the Quickshifter on the press bike, though.

    • @@btgmoto Like I said, some vehicles have stuff like this programmed on firmware level. Nothing a normal workshop can access. I really hope it's something of this sort and not a misaligned or faulty Throttle Position Sensor from factory. Or even worse: Faulty mapping. • Looking at how much you liked the VFR, but hated the brakes, I think what you need is a 2014 onwards VFR, with the same unlinked radial brake calipers as 600 / 1000RR of the time (albeit linked up to very rudimentary abs). You'd then end up with a reliable fun motorcycle you could put huge mileage on. They look the part too. I've got an 03 800 VTEC with delinked brakes, WP suspension, Staintune exhaust and Gilles Variobars. It's bloody brilliant.

    • They're kinda pricey, and on paper they don't look like a massive step up from the RC46. I'd love to be proven wrong, but who's gonna let me ride one?

      @btgmoto@btgmotoАй бұрын
    • @@btgmoto your right, they aren't a massive step up. But to me they address the main problem with the earlier models i.e can't brake to apex without it complaining and on track days the rear disc cooks. Also lost a few pounds. Evolution not revolution. If anyone could lend you one it would be brilliant to hear your views, you are saying what I've said for years. A lot of people seem to love the whole CBS thing, I reckon it's just a very primitive form of ABS.

      @shortblokeonabike@shortblokeonabikeАй бұрын
    • @@shortblokeonabikethat CBS thing saved me 3x from a bad road crashes. Each time someone cut me off either intersection or overtaking on a bad spot, and once wild animals crossed within braking distance. I had no time to grab my brake lever on the bar but I had time to hit the foot brake lever very quickly which gave me so much deceleration that I could just avoid the impact. So IMO it's a good thing on the road. Of course on a race track it's bad. But the whole bike isn't designed for the track anyway. It's a fat pig. So I bought 600 supersport with 50kg less weight, more power, and factory separated brakes. And it's awesome on track. Tons more fun than the VFR. But the VFR will always be a more comfy and torquey road bike to do distance on.
