They can bond with people descended from dragon lords, which include Targaryens, their bastards, anyone w/ a T ancestor, including the matrilineal line; So Baratheons, Martels etc. Plus all those Valaryen colonies in Essos. You got to know a bunch of the Volanti, for example, will have dragon lord blood, aka an ancestor who was a Targaryen or one of the greater dragon lord houses.

    @theM4R4T@theM4R4T8 жыл бұрын
    • He knew how dangerous they were, he knew exactly how dangerous they were. Tyrions way to get out of trouble is to talk and showcase his vulnerability, Tyrion’s way of approaching most things is to talk and relate and sympathize so it makes sense for him to do so even with dragons that cannot understand him. He’s approaching them very slowly, step by step while talking in a very low and quiet voice so that he isn’t threatening to them or look like he’s challenging them in any way. Rhaegal took his approach as a threat at first but it was when Tyrion lowered his head and began talking did Rhaegal calm down and just watch and listen. He also pulled the pin on the collar very quickly so that he didn’t disturb or spook the dragon, also showing that he was there to help and when Viserion noticed that Tyrion was there to help he lowered his head down and simply waited - which definitely terrified Tyrion cause Viserion moved a little quicker than anticipated. Then when the job was done, he made sure Rhaegal and Viserions backs were turned and they were walking away til he did so himself, and he got himself out of there as fast as his little legs could carry him.

Sure, the guy has had a rough life but damn, he's got so many stories to tell.

  • Anyone else think it sounds like the dragon is laughing after Tyrion says, "don't eat the help"? This scene was clearly designed to show that dragons are indeed very intelligent creatures, they clearly undersand what he's saying. Perhaps it was intentional that it sounded like laughter?

    @MrMatsudi@MrMatsudi8 жыл бұрын
    • Grimenstein that’s because the dragon understood him and he is laughing after that comment! Play it back over and over and you can actually hear the dragons ask him questions. • One of my favorite small details of this scene is the dragons drooling. I interpreted it this way. They’re starving, they’ve refused to eat since Dany left. They’re withering away in captivity. Tyrion is the first thing that has come into their dungeon in a while that they could eat. They’re literally drooling at the sight of him but have the intelligence to understand he is their friend, and it would not be wise to eat a friend. “Please don’t eat the help” and the dragon totally laughs.

  • This was one of the most touching scenes of GoT Season 6. When Tyrion was telling a story from his childhood, the dragons were listening. They could hear the ring of truth to what he was saying. If not, they simply could've swatted him like a fly from one end of the pyramid to the other. Then when he freed the first dragon, his action and words were congruent. The dragons now have a new bff. *

It really feels like Tyrion and Daemon are some of the only people who admired the dragons with reverance, and understood the dragons and saw them as individual beings, not some exotic pet to keep in chains and bound to a chamber.

    • +hentesgyik95 The books imply that Aerys Targaryen used his status as king to claim first bedding rights to Tywin Lannisters wife. Some have speculated that if true, Aerys may have kept up a secret relationship with Joanna for years, which eventually led to Tyrion’s birth. There is enough source material explored in the books and the show to have a "Tyrion Targaryeon" reveal make sense. ‘Game of Thrones’ 101: Explaining The Tyrion Targaryen Fan Theory Jeremy Fuster The Wrap May 2, 2016 ‘Game of Thrones’ 101: Explaining The Tyrion Targaryen Fan Theory More Tyrion Lannister has done a lot of spectacular things over the course of “Game of Thrones.” On a show where death is the only constant, he has managed to elude the Grim Reaper more times than anyone can count. He has used his wit and intellect to work his way into several seats of power. Oh, and he slapped Joffrey. That was fun. On last night’s episode, Tyrion added another remarkable feat to his list, and it is one that has rekindled one of the most popular fan theories surrounding the series. With Daenerys Targaryen missing after flying off with her dragon at the end of last season, Tyrion has been chosen to run Meereen in her place. In his first move as acting governor, Tyrion made a bold suggestion: Daenerys still had two other dragons chained in the dungeons, and Tyrion decided that he would go down and free them. As some unfortunate souls have learned over the course of the series, dragons are quick to flame-broil and devour anyone who looks at them funny. Even Daenerys can’t really tame them. She can only show them where to fly and maybe they’ll listen to her. But as it turns out, Tyrion’s silver tongue is much more powerful than anyone first thought. With a few jokes and a little chit-chat, Tyrion managed to get the dragons to trust him and let him unchain them without snapping. He even told them a story about how he wanted a dragon as a birthday gift when he was a kid, and they seemed to be listening to him. Daenerys is the only one up to this point that has been able to calm the dragons the way Tyrion has, making Sunday’s episode the biggest piece of evidence for some fans that believe Tyrion is not a full-blooded Lannister. According to the theory, Tyrion’s father is not Tywin Lannister. It’s Aerys Targaryen. Some believe that on the wedding night of Tywin and Joanna Lannister, the power-drunk Aerys used his status as king to claim first bedding rights to Joanna. Through either seduction or blackmail, he kept up a secret relationship with Joanna for years, which eventually led to Tyrion’s birth. As fans know, Joanna died giving birth to Tyrion. Tywin always hated the Imp for bringing about the death of the only person in Westeros he ever truly loved, but that hatred might have been doubled if he knew who Tyrion’s father really was. Or so the theory goes. Also Read: New Fast And Furious Era of 'Game of Thrones' Sure Is Fun, Isn't It? (Commentary) But while Tywin would make sure that Tyrion would never be his heir, he raised him instead of letting him die like most people in Westeros would do with dwarf children. Fans who believe in the theory think that Tywin did this either to preserve the honor of his house or because he could never bring himself to kill Joanna’s child, regardless of the circumstances. The theory would also explain the motives behind Tywin’s words and actions. The affair with Joanna would have been enough to get Tywin to join the Baratheon rebellion, and it would give deeper meaning to his final declaration to Tyrion that he was never his son - just before Tyrion killed him. The Tyrion Targaryen theory also ties in to the prophecy of the three-headed dragon that Daenerys hears in the House of the Undying... then again George has made a point of saying that there are multiple ways for prophecies to come true, and they aren't always the most literal or the most flashy. Prophecy is a Fickle Bitch.

There *was* a time when Tywin was away and Joanna and Aerys were in the same vicinity. Then some time later she birthed Tyrion. Of course there's plenty of other evidence, such as Tyrion falling into tainted water and never getting ill (Valyrian's are immune to some diseases/illnesses), he dreamed of dragons a lot and was obsessed with fire. GOT was supposed to have a second Dance of Dragons between Daenerys and the rightful heir Aegon. I'd imagine Tyrion would claim the third dragon and partake in the dance.

  • I think this is my favourite scene of the whole series so far. Just perfect. I knew Tyrion coming into contact with the dragons for the first time would be cool, but I didn't expect it to be quite so beautiful. Dinklage deserves another Emmy for this scene alone!

  • That's why Danaerys needs Tyrion. He is way smarter than she. Locking up the dragons was stupid decision making; all her decisions come out of pure emotion cause she doesnt think with her head, but with her heart. He locked them up just because they follower their nature and kill a kid. There's more than one side to every conflict, situation or problem and if she wants to rule shes gonna have to choose a lot between the lesser of two evils. Like Tywin said, the best quality of a king is wisdom; just doing thing because you think is "good" without thinking about it can end up biting in the ass long term

    • +danielle burton Right? What a dumb ass comment the OP posted. As if Dany was raised on Westerosi politics and ACTUALLY experienced war, shitty ass men, and people to rule over. This is her first try, and even Tyrion had the council (especially Vary's and his little birds), the city guard, etc. Pffft, some people are quick to judge and make nonsensical comments.

    • Dany did the right thing. She was trying to stabilize Mereen and to have her dragons going around killing the very people she was trying to rule over would have been stupid. They would all have turned against her. Not to mention it would have been hypocritical and morally wrong.

  • Even though I know George says that dragons are not THAT intelligent, not as smart as people anyway, I like to imagine that they’re smart enough that whilst Tyrion is talking they’re just thinking “dude, cut the crap and take these chains off”

    • This. I hate how the show only gives Drogon any kind of meaning in the story while Rhaegal and Viserion are just forgotten about. I didn't even genuinely know their names until I read the books and it's not like I wasn't paying attention. Sure, Viserion get killed and resurrected and Jon rides Rhaegal before he dies but that's it. Such a shame, because Rhaegal is my favourite of the three (Team Jon on the throne for life.)
