🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

  • Sonny, LOVE your videos. My kids and I watch frequently and, as a result, my children are trying all sorts of new things such as century eggs, etc. That said, there is something I've noticed in your videos from time to time. There is a difference in loin and tenderloin. Backstrap is the loin and runs alongside the spine on the dorsal side of the body. Tenderloins are smaller and run along the inverse side of the ribs, inside the rib cage. T-Bones, pork chops, lamb chops, etc. are loin and filet mignon is tenderloin. Small detail but it means a huge difference in tenderness, price, location and quality of meat cuts.

  • Lol Avril is a Coloured. A mix of Asian, European and some local African. A good chunk from the population brought in by the VOC, as well as mostly those many thousands of freed slaves dumped in the Cape by the British Navy in the 19th century. There is no such historical organic culture/tribe called Khoisan. Khoe-san is 1) either a clumsy historic way-of-life abstraction i.e. pastoralism (Khwe) or hunter-gatherering/ foraging. (san) OR 2) An abstraction in the academic fields of linguistic regarding pattern language classification found in the desert of the Kalahari of Namibia/Botswana or the Northern Cape ( largely moribund like Latin in North Cape). Large sections of extant cultures like the Xhosa, Tswana/Sotho & Coloured populations share ancestry, but this weird habit over the last few years of substituting the abstract term khoisan because some mixed people of colour don't have a native culture, but are culturally colonial servant class culture-based & Afrikaans (Dutch)-speaking, is just daft. No culture in history defines themselves as an abstraction created by European colonists if they were actually an organic historical culture. Incidentally it is the evolved modern living culture in the former colonial native reserve of the Cape, I.e. XHOSA, that maintain millennia-old *organic* Khwe cultural practices like "Ingqithi".

Many times hunters are targeting the older and larger animals that are towards the end of their lifespan anyways (either that or cull hunting to remove unhealthy individuals from the population). • I love your show so much, I never miss an episode. But, at the same time it kills me. Why? You're doing something I have only been able to dream of for years and years. Not the hunting part, but traveling around the world, meeting other cultures and enjoying the different foods they eat and even getting to be a part of the process. I am trying my best, to live my dream through you haha. Thanks for these videos. No way I could afford to do it, but your videos give me the chance to at least see and hear it.

Khoe-san is 1) either a clumsy historic way-of-life description i.e. pastoralism (Khwe) or hunter-gatherering/ foraging.
