Also for anyone else who lost their lives on this bridge. I wonder if a more modern bridge could be designed to keep the main supports more out of harms way.

So grateful to be alive, hopefully with their loved ones. Six people didn't get to go home. Six families had their worlds shattered and forever changed. And it all happened in the blink of an eye. We should all be grateful for the ones in our lives and the simple joys each day brings because it can all be gone in a moment.

      @robsan52@robsan52Ай бұрын
    • I'm sure no one forgot. Keep in mind that they had at MOST five minutes warning (and I don't think they had that long). The bridge was over a mile long, so going 60MPH, it would take a minute and a half to get all the way across if you don't stop or slow down for anything. Had they been able to contact the workers (and they may have...we don't know), they still wouldn't have had enough time to get out of there. Just the time it takes to jump in a vehicle (if you had one nearby), start it, and drive away would have been more time than they had, even in the best of circumstances.

    • Well, I would imagine they will end up paying some of, if not all of the expenses. However, the investigation and court schedules could take months to years to complete. The bridge needs to be fixed now, not later. So the federal government needs to step in to get it started asap. Once the investigation is complete, any money the company owes can then be paid back to the federal government.

  • People wondering why the ships company is not paying for the repairs. Could be 2 reasons. First, the ship was piloted by a local and was not part of the crew. It's like a valet driver taking control of your car and he crashed into a building. Hard for it to be your responsibility. Secondly, that ship would be insured. That will take months or years to sort out with investigations and legal paperwork. The bridge needs instant repairs and can't wait that long. It needs immediate repairs considering the economic stakes as well as commute in the area.

    • It's possible that the construction road crews had vehicles & were in them trying to escape in the work trucks & construction vehicles they had. But unfortunately these journalists today are morons who don't provide any valid info. Good questions for a reporter to ask the Maryland Dept of Trans. is "how many work vehicles were assigned to the bridge?" "How long did it take bridge authorities to notify the workers from when they got the distress call?" Etc, etc. Nah we get some d bags & bubble headed broads more concerned with how good their hair looks for the camera. The only questions they asking is to the camera man "how's my face look in this lighting"-- TV reporter's make high 6 figs. Driving lambos & Ferraris to work. I know this because I did construction work at a major news station in a Phila & were working in the employee parking garage. All the casters were driving Porche GT's, Lambos & Ferraris. They all so fake too. I asked the one very popular news caster about his rare 40th anniversary edition lambo which is like 1 of 50 cars in the world & he didn't even look at me while saying "It's alot better than your POS" Then they go on camera & smile all chummy like they your friends. I know other people who worked at other stations & they say the same thing. All snobs. All incompetent. All round bad people who only care about collecting that paycheck. So wether it local or national or cable TV news. They all aholes driving rare exotic sport cars laughing all the way to the bank.
