Cadeaux at the Chateau: A VINTAGE SHIRT FOR SELMAR!

This time we move to the Marquis' Apartment for the gift opening, as I'm trying to show you different glimpses of the chateau each week. We open incredibly thoughtful gifts, from buttercup porcelain via greenlandic wrist warmers, to a very special shirt for Selmar!
In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month.
I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖
If you would like to see more of our life at the chateau, please go to our main 'Chateau Diaries' channel:

  • That was a beautiful moment when Stephanie told Selmar how much she appreciated the fact that he always looked out for her ... and Selmar’s response. May Lalande always be graced with your kind and caring presence, Selmar. Stephanie, thank you for my card which arrived a few days ago. It made us very happy! And that was a beautiful parcel that Selmar received. It was selected with care! The shirt is so beautiful, too. It suits your personality .... and the little tango without music was heartwarming. Thank you, all at Lalande. Ha ha ha! I laughed so hard when Philippe said, “you should drink from that (hedgehog) mug when you’re feeling prickly”. Don’t we all ... ?

  • Musk ox wool (the inner wool) is called qiviut in the US. It’s incredibly warm and as soft as silk. It has to be hand combed from the musk oxen so it’s relatively rare. The wrist warmers are not only beautiful and beautifully crafted but truly generous gifts.

      @karlasmit7535@karlasmit75353 жыл бұрын
    • My mother knitted those for Stephanie! It is indeed quite rare, and when we visited Greenland together years ago, we ended gathering a lot of it (since the oxen rub against bushes and rocks, you can pick it off of that in nature). This yarn is not made from that gathered bunch though, but the yarn is SO wonderfully soft, and warm. Really quite incomparable. My mother was so excited to see Stephanie open them, and even spotting her wearing them outside in another video last week!

It is true how Selmar is like the overseer and tries to make sure all is running nicely/ Stephanie we know its the 'lady of the house or Queen of this Chateau, ' but he is there when things get a bit crazy, and helps to bring things back into the norm. I think it is Stephanies birthday every day! * I thought she was born around my birthday Sept. 22nd and wished her Happy Birthday, and she was so gracious and went right along with me* Lovely gifts received!! So many talented viewers. I think they search high and love finding just the right gift for all of the family at La Lande! Which is a nice thing. Do miss mommy and Scotsman( Gerald) I know they will all be back. ( love watching Diesal receiving gifts he loves it so much! Sees everyone else opening them and just waits and hopes. His little bed was so nice.) Such a perfect shirt, Selmar! They did their homework to even have a bull on it your astrological sign. Realy perfect !!!

It is truly medicine for my soul☺️ And the Hedge Hugs mug “ for when you’re feeling prickly” (as Philip so humorously put it)-are any of you every truly prickly? • Hello dear Lalanders, the pig is on the Christmas cup is a Nordic tradition. Pigs are a symbol of good luck for the new year. In German it’s a “Gluecksschwein” = lucky pig. When something risky works out well they say: “Ich habe Schwein gehabt” = I got lucky. A Christmas tradition is a molded pink marzipan pig. Mandy knows and can tell you more about it. All the best and thank you for another great vlog! Birgitt

  • Maybe the circles of lace could be used in framing two prints you want to link? Or tie backs for one window room?

  • Musk ox wool is also known as qiviut. It’s really soft, warm, and VERY expensive!

    • Wish we could post a pic of a musk ox...I saw one walking along side a road in Alaska by a You tuber traveling ...It was unreal, like looking at a prehistoric creature. The fur or coat is from it's spine to the ground, hangs like a very thick , heavy curtain. It swayed as it walked...amazing.

    • @@aleta5873 I live in Alaska which is how I’m familiar with them. They’re really cool animals and are more closely related to goats than oxen. There’s a musk ox farm not far from me that I love visiting!

    • @@nebula402 Wow! They look like they'd be scary. They're huge. Goat not oxen...Thanks for the information. I live in a suburb of LA (all my life). Wow Alaska. That's some country up there. Take care this winter.
