The West Walker River is a major trout stream in the Eastern Sierras portion of California. On this day I was fishing the lower section which flows along side Hwy 395. There are a number of camp grounds and pull-outs along the highway and a lot of people fish it so it is well stocked throughout the season. They don't stock the Alpers variety anymore (as I incorrectly speculated) but I think they still put some big ones in. Some parts of the stream flow thru a turbulent canyon area but other sections are slower and easier to fish and wade.

Another great video ... thanks. Stocked streams are great places to build up your confidence or take young or beginner fly fishers to catch their first trout on a fly.
Excellent video. Nice to see you catch a bunch of fish.
They stopped planting Alpers in 2014....
Have they substituted Alpers with some other large trout?
How were you able to cross the section of rapids where you caught the 7? Looked uncrossable ! Enjoyed the video as usual, TIGHT LINES
@@chucklutter7399 From upstream it is calm, shallow and easily crossed.
I fish both the West and East branches the West is much better. A fire raged through that area about 4 years ago
