This time it is a simple tool, I tried to make a convenient marking gauge.
You can use "draw parallel lines from the edge of the work", "mark the same distance in multiple places", "measure the depth of the groove".
I will introduce "simple things that can be created without using tools" and "items freely made"

I think your perfectionism is the same as me. Watching your video is therapeutic. Happy that you demonstrated both versions of the tool.
It is not only a tool, it is also a beautiful art work created by a skilled Japanese artist. Thank you for sharing
I made a marking gauge with your design and it worked perfectly. Thank you for your so precise work and simple designs that work so well.
I really like the inspirational aspect and high aesthetic value of your work: brass handles, attentiveness to details, nice surfaces, and a relaxed, zen-like approach to woodworking.
The first one is a handyman tool, the second one is a work of art.
This reminds me of one of those fascinating watch repair videos. So much attention to detail and workmanship. Simply incredible.
I like how you demonstrate how something operates/works and then show how to build it.
I have no single idea about the tools you are using, but you know what, you are an artist. Looks so clean and high-quality.
Beautiful work. Watching you work reminds me of a skilled surgeon operating. You give me something to use to get better at making things.
This looks like the tool of choice for most tasks, the usual sliding square on this type of rulers too often gets in the way. I will make mine this week-end. Thank you!
I'm surprised he doesn't start the video showing us him planting the tree and nurturing it for about 35 years then cutting it down and milling it by hand. Once he gets perfectly straight lumber he makes these videos showing us his magnificent creations. I've never seen a cleaner woodworker. I swear these are how to videos for cleaning your workshop not building in your workshop. Thank you for the awesome videos!! I hope one day I'll be half as good as you. Hope you continue to share your work for years to come
He would have but balsa doesn't grow in Japan.
Sir, you have the hands of a doctor. Great job ... congratulations.
Thank you for this very useful little tool. In my opinion the first design is much more inspired than the second : no need for super expensive machines, much sober and perfectly doing the job : simplicity is always the end of the road ...
It's a pleasure watching you work. Thank you!
the first one is more beautiful than the second one, which is trying to be beautiful and 'inspirational'. simplicity and directness in problem-solving is beautiful. obsession is not. stay simple and direct to the problem, dont go mental, and everything will always turn out ok. the way you milled the slot with adhesive sandpaper on the ruler was excellent
Beautifully and skilfully done.
Thank you so much. I can not make the second version, because im not even close to what is needed for. But i will definitely try the first one.
Beautiful, the simple hand made version as well as the tool involved version.
I love the care and craftsmanship in your work.
2nd version was very well done. Simple and effective. Congrats!
Washington Dutra- you mean "simple"? 😁
The ones that do not like this are jealous of your milling machine and cute rod cutter
This guy is a magician. All his work is very impressive.
You are a master at work everyone tries to imitate you, but no one can duplicate you.
It is pure joy to see your work and so inspiring that I am going to use your designs. Every video I have seen of you give me and I guess many others so many details and no bullshit about anything other then what you do. Thanks for what you share with us.
Even of such a simple job you can make a beautiful design object. Bravo!
I liked the sanding idea .. very creative
Easy to make, indispensable in the shop and you can make as fancy or as simple as you want! Excellent video, just like all the others you have made. Congratulations on great workmanship and easy to follow instructions. Thanks.
The first one was all i would have needed but then you created a masterpiece. I never thought i would ever say this in woodworking but watching you is so ( Mesmerizing ) and enjoyable. Thank s for the video.
This build inspired me to make one, which I have now done with a few changes, works very well & I think I’ll make a smaller one with a 6inch ruler to keep the other one company. I looked through the comments on this & you don’t need anything other than basic tools to do the Superior one, trust me. My version doesn’t even require the locking internal plate, as long as the bolt is in the threaded insert straight and flatten/polish the bolt end it seats & locks the ruler fab, saves more too, thank you for sharing!👍
i want see it!
Glad to see this comment; I was wondering why he bothered with the plate at all. Additionally, what kind of glue, etc. would be needed?
i loved the sandpaper-ruler thinking instead of chiseling it out! Brilliant idea in general!! thanks JSK :)
Boli: warsztat, czystość, dostępność, a ja.......
Great respect and admiration for a highly skill master. He sure give me a great interest in DIY stuff the simple economical way. You are the source of my INSPIRATION. I AM a FAN. THANK YOU.
Já pego no lápis; imagine então eu traçando estas ferramentas do nada! Pura criatividade! Obrigado!
Very nice construction. Craftmanship at its finest!
You used lot's of advance machine to build this so it's not simple diy construction but your videos is full of techniques and informative .
One of the best channels out here. So grateful. Much love, and many blessings. Keep it going
The first design I see is more inspiring, it is completely handmade, while the second design was made by machines, but it is great work anyway. Thank you
Just because a machine is used, doesn't make it uninspiring.
clean as always. i am carpenter and live in tokyo so. following your work. i like it . nice job man
I might be wrong, but: are these hands the hands of a *man* ? Not sure..
@@GNU_Linux_for_good exacto. No son manos de carpintero. No los movimientos. Pero interesante.
@@alexfontaine2011 High Alex. Meanwhile I found out (and I'm darn sure) he's *male* . Look at his circular saw slide guide video: kzhead.info/sun/gJWxia-vbHiGYGg/bejne.html and jump to 02:06. But either way - these hands are pretty feminine. Apologies for not answering in Spanish. Best regards.
Parabéns, que trabalho lindo! Abraços do Brazil.
Excellent video and process. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. I now have 2 lesser versions.
Very clever design! I will use that for my next project. Thank you :)
Very nice! I like to use a combination square! It does all your tool does and more! I could use your design to make a practical depth gauge! Thank you.
Beautiful craftsmanship!
How ingenious! Amazing. Learn more everyday
Very nice, Tank you.
Perfect... I like your technique very much. You have excellent work. The most beautiful do-it-yourself exercises I have ever seen. Congratulations.
the way you make the groove @ 2:33 is a pretty good idea! Nice job
I've got a CNC at home, I'm going to make the 2nd one. Thanks for the inspiration!
I really love the second design. Fantastic work sir.
Simply awe inspiring. I love watching your videos.
Narzędzia i pomysły. Tego mogę pozazdrościć. Tools and ideas. I can envy that. 👍
Beautiful!! Not a tool, but a work of art
Great job, well done. i love all your ideas and jobs!
I learn a lot from you. Keep teaching the right way of doing things. Best regards,
Beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing.
The first gauge was great then you had to go and reach for perfection. Nice Jog
GREAT IDEA WITH THE SANDPAPER. I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT DOING THAT. THINK ILL BUILD ONE OR TWO OF THEM. THANKS FOR SHARING SUBSCRIBED ALSO.
Well I sure did get inspired by both ones :-D ..and your creativity. Thank you for sharing!
Wow that second one is a beautiful tool and is definitely inspiring as you have said
Very nice. The first one is easy to make for any one that wants to make one but the other one is more durable and beautifully designed and made. 👍
PERFECT JOB!!! The best I've ever seen. Congratulation for the amazing quality of yor job!!
How to make a lawn mower work bench
Good idea. Excellent project
wow.. amazing. very clever the way you used the sandpaper to make the ruler shape on the wood. the second one is god level :)
Guys, again I have found happiness by watching this video. I believe after I make what he just showed in the video, then my healing shall come.
Tank you, I did mine in a few minutes with your technique
The difference between the two versions is the difference in price you see in tools in the big box stores. Such as Milwaukee vs Black n Decker or Bosch vs Holt. He shows the DIYer it can be done. Then hey shows the the experts what they can achieve. Inspiring to both audiences
The guy is great and I couldn’t do what he does but the real difference between the two is the CNC machine more then any other tool comparisons. It allows for so much more detail and precision. I want a nice small one like that.
@@garyjohn1956 you got it. CNC makes significant difference in the 2nd version
Good effort simple techniques
Absolute artistry ! ...great job
A real work of art!
Skill at its finest..
dang, now I got to go out and buy a milling machine :), think I will just stick with the first version :) Great video as always
The first one inspired me...the second one was above my paygrade...WOW! I'm going to make the first one. Handy little thing...
The second (CNC made) unit looks great, but the first (hand made) model is more inspiring for me! That’s the one I’ll be making.
Why not just handmake the second one?
Beautiful piece! (the second one)
I am not skipping ads.. very informative step by step process. Please create a pocket hole jig DIY tutorial.
