I’m only in my 30’s but fell in love with my first dog Buddy who happened to be a 10 year old 110lb black lab and fell head over heels in love! I only had him 18 months but immediately decided I wanted to foster or adopt another senior. And Lady came into my life. 12 year old Pitt mix. I got 2 1/2 years with her thankfully. It’s such a beautiful thing. I can’t wait to meet my next senior love!

You are so right. I adopted a senior dog six years ago and those six years have been the best years of my 71 years on this planet. I'm not exaggerating. She's 17 years old, acts like she's 8, and makes me laugh all day every day. What a blessing she has been. She's way better than anti-depressants.

Yes! I exclusively adopt senior dogs. Have done 2 so far. My latest is deaf and has an enlarged heart. I wish I could do a pitty, but I have to do smaller dogs. What a beautiful story!

Well, thank you for that, but honestly I think there's a lot of us out there who do this. And the only hard part is that you only have them for a short time.
a lot of people are not willing to be as physically active as they should be to own young dogs, and some of them also are not willing to make an effort to train a dog, but still insist on getting puppies. more people should adopt old dogs, they would be a better fit for many.
@@Ass_of_Amalek we do it because my mom is 89 and it's good companionship for her. But I am still active and walk our dogs twice a day.

I just love it when a plan comes together. This lovely senior soul has hit the jackpot and I couldn’t be happier. I have three senior dogs at this time, and every moment is a gift of pure love and delight. Way to go, JR, may you have many, many days of joy and good health with your forever family.💕🐾🐾
JR deserved a family as nice and special as that, and any dog that is a senior, a pittie, and handicapped do, too. ☺
These people are truly ANGELS on Earth! Most folks only want a young animal with no defects. (And they do need homes too.) But choosing an older one that has health problems is granting them the life that everyone deserves. And, in return, they give us more love than almost any human could.
Giving an old shelter dog a golden basket at the end of its life is so rewarding. My ex-wife and I adopted a senior dog, found on the street, totally neglected, full of tumors, at age 14, in January 2022. We had to put him down two weeks ago, but my god, what a blessing he was in my life. Total dedication, filled with love and joy, he gave to us for almost 1,5 years. I recommend everyone adopt these beautiful creatures at the end of their lives. They might live 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year, but it doesn't matter. They go to the rainbow, knowing they're special to someone. Dogs are amazing.
They're only senior in age....many of them are puppies in heart filled with gratitude.

I was crying so hard whole watching this video. JR is just like my boy Donut, an elderly, sickly pit bull who languished away in the shelter for a year before I adopted him. They told us he only had a month to live, but he ended up giving us 10 before we had to put him to sleep last October. Watching this reminded me just how much I loved him and I'm so happy that JR could find a loving home like Donut did. God bless you all for giving him the loving home he deserved.

Ahhh My Gosh!!! I cried like a baby watching this. God bless this Angel for finding a home for him. I am so glad Baby found a home. I raised two dogs into their senior years and they were loved to the very end. It was very heartbreaking to say goodbye. But that didn't stop me from getting another dog to make part of the family and spoil rotten.

My beloved Buddy was at the East Valley LA shelter. I stepped up and got him as a foster when he was 4 months old and riddled with general demodex. I got him just in time and I failed as a foster (by choice). My Buddy was my soul companion for almost 14 years!❤

Of late, I have been noticing special animals like JR by just looking at their eyes. I can't explain what it is but it can be overwhelming looking into their eyes for me. Especially the ones the owners broke their hearts by leaving them to suffer.

Max ❤️✨️ was my sisters fur baby. She reacued him from people who beat him. He was a big dog that looked like a pit bull (we were never sure) but had to wear a muzzle around other dogs. He was afraid. In his last years he began to not only accept other dogs, but learn to love them. He had a lot of love ❤️ I couldn't have a bad day around him, thank you Max 😇 you will always be our angel, along with my baby Jack ❤️

It's not so much us adopters, but the people behind the scenes that deserve all the accolades. They scour the shelters and see what we don't. When we make contact, they somehow find a way to make everyone's dreams come true, and pass our best friends to us, and hope it works out. I honestly don't understand how they do what they do. I'm just extremely grateful, each time I look at my "babies", that rescuers do what they do, so I have the happiness I've been gifted.

My girlfriend’s senior pittie just passed. It was gut wrenching. She was the sweetest dog. But there are so many good memories, and lots of photos, and videos, but Roxie will be dearly missed.
Senior dogs are awesome. They have so much love to give in a very short time. I adopted a 14 year old Westie from the shelter. He was loved and cared for in my home. He didn’t have to pass away in a shelter. We had him for two years and three months. He passed away in his loving home. 🌈

Senior dogs can give so much love. I had one, she was blind and deef . He lived for four mouth. He taught me how to care for dogs. Which I use today
