  • I like having Waldo in the lineup. Especially against righties. This Yankee team is great. It's like someone different becomes the hero each day. That's important for success because it can't always be the same guy or guys every day or you won't win as many game that way.

  • You can't block the base that far out in front of the bag. Regardless if old rules or new rules. Soto should've been called safe. If that's the case, I can set up about a foot in front of the bag with my leg out there to block any runner while I'm receiving the ball. And the ball NOT in my glove yet.

  • If Trevino had run out of the box on that fly to right field, he would have made it to second no problem. But you can see him walking slowly out of the box. Back when I played I'd always bust it out of the box until I was thrown out, because you never knew for SURE that the other side would catch the ball or successfully throw you out. Even at the major league level. Trevino should know this. Our manager would have benched him for that. Fortunately, we didn't need an extra run to win. Just hoping we pick up the second win as well. And hopefully by a somewhat more lopsided score so we don't need to ask our closer to pitch both games.

    • Even though a bad throw, that was one of his many patented bone headed plays. Not knowing the situation. Runners on 3rd and 2nd. Any bad throw plates 2. He should've tossed to Volpe instead of making it a difficult turn. Or set proper for an accurate throw, even if runner safe at least only one run scores. He's been known as a talented player, clutch at times but a true low baseball IQ type player. Much like the catcher Sanchez.

  • Boone always ends up with stress innings for the bullpen. He refuses to bunt in obvious situations and put pressure on the other team's defense. Almost cost us but again more inning than needed on the pen so early in the year.

    @jamesw5353@jamesw5353Ай бұрын
    • @jamesw5353 I agree with you, although, to be fair, teams don't seem to work on the bunt these days. Back when I played, every player on the team would put in at least half an hour of bunt work at every practice, even the power hitters on the team. We became experts at the suicide squeeze, trading a run for an out. Nowdays, you ask a major league player to bunt, it usually goes foul, or goes right back to the pitcher, and you wind up with at the very best and wasted strike, often a lead runner thrown out, or a double play.

      @Karthos1000@Karthos1000Ай бұрын
    • @@Karthos1000 And with most 1-6 hitters having power it makes sense. But when you have 7-9 all hitting around .200 with low power you move runners over. While you're right a lot of teams don't practice bunting which means a lot of teams don't practice defense vs the bunt either.

      @jamesw5353@jamesw5353Ай бұрын
    • @@jamesw5353 I doubt there are teams that don't practice defense against the bunt, since it also works for defense against soft ground balls and such. I think power hitters should also be willing to drop down a bunt now and then. But I am enjoying this game! No bunts needed right now.!
