She celebrated blackness and her sisters, black sisters in the industry and outside of it, she also shouted out her wife and their child finishing with “happy pride”. This is so genuinely made and also so important. This speech is just so beautiful. What a moment. And she is such a great artist in everything she does. She deserves every award and tribute

  • About 14 years ago I had just had my daughter and I worked at LAX as a TSA agent. I worked in Terminal 4 and lane 1 always had celebrities in it with their airport escorts. I was moving bins and working with my head down. I finally looked up and a woman in a hoodie/sweatpants was smiling at me. I smiled back and continued working then so did a double take after realizing that it was Queen Latifah. No escort or entourage. She looked like a regular person but beautiful even dressed in her hoodie and sweats.

  • I love this moment. I cried with her and during the performances. I've been a fan of her since I was very young. I sat on her lap when I was 6 years old and she was so loving. She talked to me about school and told me I could be whatever I wanted to be. What a positive, proud, beautiful woman to look up to!! She's definitely a Queen and this was wayyyy overdue. I'm so proud of her. The very 1st woman besides my mom that I looked up to. CONGRATULATIONS QUEEN!!
