OUR VICTORIAN TERRACED HOUSE: Rooms we haven't shared before

OUR VICTORIAN TERRACED HOUSE: Rooms we haven't shared before// Hello, We have received so many questions from you that you would love to see more of our house. So here it is: We are sharing some rooms that you haven't seen before and our next project. We love our Victorian terraced house as it's the perfect size for us. Hope you like it. Have a lovely weekend. Kirsten & Joerg x
ONE MORE THING: People keep asking about wanting to see our house from outside and more (the exact location, whether the house is end or mid terrace, where we park the car etc.): It's all well but please also understand that we still want to be private people and we think we share a fair amount of our life on the web as it is but not all. Hope you understand and respect our privacy as well. Thanks!

  • Both you&the previous owners of the house have done a perfect job! Let's be honest,- typical Vistorian houses for middle class have often been too cold&dark for modern taste. Victorians often used dark-green, dark-brown and dark-red colors for decorating, partly due to 19-century fashion, and also because particals of soot&ash, which were the result of burning the coal in their fireplaces, were quickly covering all surfaces; even with intense everyday cleaning light walls&furniture would have no chance to keep their color. I think, that extra windows, installed by previous owners, and beautiful pastel colors, which you have chosen so wisely, make this house look both pretty & "moderatly modern", but at the same time increase it's old-fashion charm.

  • Your home is beautiful! My husband and I live in an old German farmhouse, and believe me it’s a work in progress! There’s so much needing done and to be quite honest we haven’t changed very much as I call it a quirky house. You can open a doorway and inside you’ll find three more doors, however we’re hoping to sell our home this year and in Germany people who buy are really only interested in heating, windows and a safe and watertight roof. When homes are sold in the UK, they are presented to buyers, it’s not like that here, considering most people take their kitchens with them and all you see are four bare walls. Anyway, I just love watching your videos, enjoy your beautiful home, from the Wee Scot in Germany 😊

I live in the U.S. (New Jersey) and I don't get to travel abroad anywhere near as much as I would like to, so I absolutely love vicariously getting around with the two of you! This is my first time ever "Posting" a Comment, so it took some time for me to figure out how it's done, but I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to directly "Thank You" both, for making the time and the effort to share "life" as candidly, warmly & beautifully as you do! • Here is the Midwest USA, we call those windows in the ceiling "skylight" windows. One of the problems with skylights are that sometimes the seal gets old and they leak when it rains hard. If you have a tiny room next to a bedroom, they could be called a "dressing room" or "walk-in closet." All your clothing gets stored in the walk-in room in cupboards or hang from closet rods. My aunt lived in an older home that had a dressing room leading off her master bedroom and the on-suite opened into the dressing room. There was a separate on-suite for their boys next to their on-suite, but they were not connected (except for the plumbing inside the walls.) Do you have a cellar or what we call a basement under your ground floor for storage?

  • I think your home is so adorable, compliments you two:) I love victorian structures, they have so much character. I really enjoy and appreciate when you both bring us into your personal sphere (but realize that privacy still has to be a factor when online) which helps us get to know you all the better. A great video, thank you for posting it!

  • Hello Kirsten and Joerg, I discovered your videos yesterday and I was instantly aware of how special the two of you are! You both have such adorable and endearing personalities that I just don't want your videos to end! I am enjoying them all. Your home is wonderful and so are you! There are a lot of similarities in my family from loving everything William Morris and Laura Ashley to pottery/porcelain interests, all things English, choosing wine by the labels and more!! :o) I have German and English heritage and would not be surprised if you are a relative! I'm just a few years older than Joerg and live in the U.S. Best wishes for happy and healthy days ahead and thank you for sharing your life with us! :o)

  • Lovely place, beautiful and homely. You've actually inspired me to rouse myself from the recent slump I've been in, and do a bit sprucing up in my own house. I've only ever lived in Victorian terraced properties, either houses or flats, and I wouldn't live in anything else but they are always a work in progress! Enjoy the journey to getting it exactly how you want.

    • Thanks so much! Yes, once we stared looking for a house in the UK, we came to the conclusion that the new houses here weren't for us and that a Victorian terrace would be the perfect choice.

  • So much character. I think it`s far nicer to live in a property for a while and work your way through each room as your feel for the place and understanding of your needs develop, too many rush and do everything immediately and then end up making costly mistakes and regretting choices. Thanks for the tour XX

  • Absolutely LOVE your beautiful house, the ambience, the colours you have chosen, the way you have decorated & modernised for comfortable living whilst maintaining it's Victorian authenticity. I live in Sydney - many areas here (ie Paddington) have Victorian terraces & yours would be a fine example of how to renovate many of them. Congratulations.

    • Thanks so much! Yes, so true, Joerg lived in Sydney for a while as a small boy. We were quite lucky to find it like this, it has been modernised before we bought it so we can put our finishing touches to it.

  • I love the colors in your home. I wish I could do that but unfortunately I live in an apt. And we are not allowed to decorate. So I include my colors by using accessories. But I really do love the thin, long style of your house too.😘🎅🎅🎅🤶🤶🤶

  • Most of the novels I read take place in the UK and very often the characters in the novels live in a terrace house thus making me curious to see the interior of such houses. My wish came true as I followed you on the wonderful tour of your amazing terrace house. It's like a little piece of Paradise as far as I'm concerned. I love your taste in decorating. I'm so happy to have found your channel and I look at it every day because I have a lot of catching up to do. Your walks inspire me to go for nature walks and I have started to do that just around the neighborhood thus discovering my surroundings. I love when you and your husband cook and bake. I find it so relaxing. I am a very anxious person and I find that I am so much more relaxed since I have started watching your channel. Take care. Sending much love to you and your husband.

  • Thank you for sharing your home with us. It is lovely. There are so many lovely touches. I like that the dishwasher in your utility room preserves the older fashioned look of your kitchen. I’m a Scottish great grandmother living in Australia so I always enjoyed the areas where there were the oldest terrace homes in Sydney near The Rocks and in Paddington. They reminded me of the areas where my grandparents lived in Scotland.

  • Originally when those kind of houses were built, all the children would have slept in o ne room and the very tiny ‘bedroom’ was known as a box room and used mainly for storage. It was only a few decades ago that people started referring to them as bedrooms estate agents could then sell what was really a two bedroomed house as a ‘three’ bedroomed house.

I love your uniqueness from both of you. My daughter lives in a Victorian cottage..but she has a big garden;she loves it. Have you any open fires or log burner Kirsten ? Joerg has good taste in paint colour..I like it too. Small bedrooms are called the box room.

  • I think your home is very cozy....I like the fact that you are making thoughtful decisions and not just rushing in and changing everything at once. I love your little laundry room...having the dishwasher in there is genius. I live in Alabama in the US and two years ago we downsized to a 2000 square foot home on one level. Like you were were looking for something that fit our needs. I am finally in the process of changing some of the paint colors. Thank you for always telling us paint colors. I love that! BTW, I had mentioned that my husband's family is German...our last name is Grimm...very German:) When I tell people it is Grimm like Grimm's fairly tales, young people look very perplexed. They only know Disney.
