Hope you enjoyed this video! This is usually everything I do when starting a new build and I hope it helps, especially with some of those secret chests!
Also, apologies for my voice, I don't do well vocally when a new year dawns lol. Also hope 2023 goes well for all my viewers and ONLY my viewers, let the rest burn... :)

  • Wow this video really blew up! Just wanted to say I’ve been getting a lot of comments about why I didn’t do this exploit or that exploit, and the reason why is because newcomers and those looking for a refresher do not care about exploits and just want to play the game normally. I am also someone that dislikes exploits and intentionally did not put any in the video. Just wanted to say this because I’ve been getting comments for the past 5 months about it which bothered me because I felt many people missed the point of the video.

I wasn't able to deep dive into skyrim when it came out but I just got a steam deck and it makes it so much easier to play in small chunks at a time whenever. I just needed an overview/quick start/tips from the veterans so I could get into the game quicker :) lmao plenty of knowledge about macho man randy savage dragons though

  • My tips: 1. At around level 5-10 take a stable ride to Markarth, then do the Molag Bal quest (find the haunted house) to get the Mace of Molag Bal. This mace is a very effective starter weapon and looks cool. 2. Any level: recommended for lowlevels Go to Farengar Secret-fire and get the spell tome for Soul Trap. Then, find an animal like a fox or even a mudcrab and spam soul trap. Wait an hour if your magicka is depleted. Repeat until you are level 100 in Conjuration. Then go to Winterhold and speak to Phinis. He will give you a quest where you need to summon a daedra to collect a sigil stone. Use a bow and arrow to kill the daedra if not. Then get the sigil stone and bring it to Phinis. He will return it and what you can do is go to the Midden (far left from the entrance, looks like a trapdoor) and then find the Atronach forge. Search up a guide for this as you will need certain ingredients. Once you have the ingredients put them in the Offering Box and pull the pulley. If you've done it correctly, a daedric weapon or armorpiece will spawn. Unless you have done Daedra heart + Greater soul gem + Iron sword, then you will instead get a random weapon or armor with a random enchantment. Save before doing the random recipe just in case you get anything unwanted. 3. Common knowledge: don't get too cocky and go to a giant or a dragon at a lowlevel. I beg you. Unless you have a strong bow and arrow or Fireball do not even attempt it. You absolutely will be demolished.

  • Noob here. I’m about 25 hours in, and restarted 3 times because I kept a poor diet in survival mode. This game is amazing. Here’s my best move so far: My current file, I ended up near a saints bandit camp that they’re wearing all gold. I tried to beat them a few times and had no chance. There were some nearby giants, so I aggroed the bandits and baited them to the giants. The giants aren’t in my party but they cleared those bandits for me, and let me save the bug.

    • one of my favorite things about skyrim is that it gives you an opportunity to explore your creative side. one of my favorite things i discovered while still pretty new to skyrim is that using the fury/frenzy spell on someone in a group like bandit camps and forts and such, everyone else in the group will just dogpile on them and destroy them, and you can simply remain hidden in the bushes, casting the spell on one at a time and enjoying the chaos. it's also a good way to get Nazeem killed by guards so you don't get a bounty for murder, which is probably the best benefit of all

  • As a weirdo who never really played Skyrim until the Anniversary edition, I really appreciate you mentioning Golden Hills Plantation and the Tundra Homestead. All the added housing is pretty great (especially because I think they all were made by one of the best modders in the Bethesda modding world, Elianora) but those two are especially good. My warrior Nord, Njordmann the Nord Man, operates out of the one in the mountains between Markarth and Falkreath, which is basically Jorrvaskr turned 90 degrees. This is a great guide! I haven't done much exploring of the immediate area between Helgen and Riverwood. Njordy might do some extra poking around next time I play, particularly to find that bandit camp with the treasure map.

Golden Hills plantation is a game breaker in that I NEED it fully upgraded with the most expensive mushrooms dirt can grow right from the start. Not far down that road there will be ambushed Kajits with a skill book and a little further on North side of the road (under a ledge with icicles) another skill book. There are only low level enemies up to the Alchemist shack. Grab a few Scaly mushrooms while you're there. Both skill books will be gone once you go to Riverwood.

  • just a note on smithing the gold, its worth noting that smithing, enchanting, and alchemy all level based on the value of the product, so making jewelry with gems will be better than without, meaning depending on the gems you have it might be better to make silver rather than gold to mix with the more common gems, furthermore, if you only have gold, its better to make gold rings than gold necklaces because it makes two rings, and together theyre worth more than the necklaces

For those folk who eant early exploits I would say, if you haven’t played before just relax into it and don’t push yourself too hard. Skyrim is an individual experience not a competitive one. Once you become familiar enough with the game and things become familiar and grindy, then consider using the exploits to speed things up.

  • Before you leave the cave you can level up several times. You get behind whoever your following and sneak attack them, you keep doing it. You have to keep an eye on their health and wait ever now and to then for them to heal. You level up mostly in sneak but also whatever weapon class you're using. You can realistically level up until you're tired of it. But of course the higher you go the longer it takes. I usually go to level 9 or so you get there fairly quick

  • When you get your first lock picks, unlock all of the cells in the torture room and the hallway that follows. Sometimes you can level up you lock picking just once before you pick up your first bow. The torturer's hood (which you can only get if you run w Ralof, since with Hadvar he heals too quickly) is also bugged so that it levels up with you. It is a light piece of armor that is always 1 armor rating above the best current piece available to your level. Aside from the first bandit camp mentioned in the video, when the road out of Helgen's cave bends to the right, go left over the hill and find another bandit camp set up under a cliff edge by the bees nest. Three archer bandits will show up after you loot their chest but they also have some good meat and alchemy ingredients too. Very useful if playing survival but can also be a challenge. After that, I usually head for the bandit camp mentioned in the video then the Shrine of Talos. Unless you are using the Unofficial Patch, the thief stone does NOT cover Bow skills. There is a bug that put Bow under the Warrior stone. So you either want to choose Mage or Warrior, unless you want to level up sneak and lock picking/ pickpocket earlier but it will put you at a disadvantage in combat as you level. That potion of lock picking after leaving Bleak Falls Barrow is usually a random low level skill potion. I have also picked up a potion of invisibility there before instead. Interesting that Kaj highwayman was wearing the torturer's hood for you. I have never seen that before.

  • My way to save time after you leave Riverwood is if the items are not crafting/leveling related don't pick it up unless it's worth 100 gold per 1 pound of weight. Ingredients for potions are your real source of money. Put a couple of points in stronger potions and experiment with ingredients to find the most valuable recipes and you will have more gold than you can spend right away. Always buy iron ore from everyone all the time. That way when you get the transmute ore spell you will be able to make lots of gold ore for blacksmith power leveling.

  • 10:40 A much better way to use the Transmuted Ore is to make both Silver and Gold Ingots based on what gemstones you've managed to acquire (mining regularly produces them as a byproduct. Use the gems to make various kinds of jeweled rings and necklaces (which are worth more gold, and thus give more smithing xp) and sell them off for lots of money. (Note that to make Silver Ingots you need 2 Silver Ores and the spell *prefers* to convert Silver Ore to Gold Ore over converting Iron Ore to Silver Ore, so you need to drop/put away Silver Ore before casting it again so you can convert more Iron Ore to Silver Ore and actually make Silver Ingots).

  • The first time I played this game I beat it with sword and shield on expert. It was fun but this time around I'm doing a full on destruction/alteration magr on adept who doesn't use weapons or armor (only robes). I'm having way more fun this time around. I used to think adept was too easy, but it's not. The higher difficulties (expert and onward) don't really make the game more challenging. I mean.. they do. But for the wrong reasons. On adept there's a lot of room to experiment with your build and you dont have to worry about doing the maximum amount of damage all the time. You can play the game.. like a role playing game. You can do.. what you want. On higher difficulties I'd probably need to use a full set of the best light armor I could get, plus some flesh spell, plus enchantments on my armor that decrease destruction cost. It gets out of hand rather fast. (The default difficulty the developers intended is the most fun way to play the game? Imagine that. Seems so obvious in hindsight)

    • Well I'm doing a conjuration build now with a bound sword playing on master difficulty and for that build I think master difficulty is quite fun. The viability of different builds in this game seems to vary wildly. (Conjuration feels like turning the difficulty slider down, it's actually crazy)

    • I’ve played on harder difficulties a few times but I found that I have more fun trying to seek out tough enemies on adept opposed to just making all weak enemies tougher.

  • This will be my 2nd ish play through. I started Skyrim after my buddy had begged me to play for years. I have a save at his house but as we’ve grown up we don’t get to see eachother as much. I didn’t want to download it at home because it had become his and I thing. We’re the only nerds in the group who still love Skyrim. We’d get together and play for hours taking turns defeating enemies and laughing about how much I pickpocketed and seeing those stats. I really miss it and now that Im downloading it today I wanted to get a refresher on the beginning of the game. What felt kinda sad to make a new save has turned into excitement after watching this video. Thank you bringing back the Skyrim spark.

From level 7 onwards, these items will become steel quality. The unoficial patch however changes this in that iron and steel variants will spawn randomly whenever the cell resets.

  • The thing with Goldenhills Plantation is that it's possible to acquire the farm, set up the farm in a specific way, do a few "sleep & harvest" repeats, and you'd have enough ingredients to power-level Alchemy to 100, granting a ridiculous amount of valuable options to sell... all in less than 90 minutes of play.
