  • It's crazy that he broke his own record by 4 seconds and went out as fast as he did and survived the pianos. I would love to see what Marchand could go in a 400m free LCM, given that he hasn't swam the event long course in a long time. It could be something great, but not likely to approach the world and textile best times of 3:40.07 (Biedermann *supersuit) and 3:40.08 (Thorpe textile real world record). This is possibly due to over reliance on his underwaters as opposed to above water swimming in freestyle? His listed pb is "only" a 4:04.65, which is slower than his 400m IM LCM world record of 4:02.50. Clearly, he's way faster than that, especially with a 1:46.44 (1:44.89 relay split) in the 200m free LCM, and the world record in the 400m IM LCM (along with his yards times in freestyle).
