Ah! Thanks for the shout out!! Excited to see more from this feature. I think it's a great way to think about how different recent releases are in conversation with one another and trendbuilding for the season is always a treat.
Thank you so much for the shout out! ❤ I didn't talk enough about the dynamics in my review but totally agree that Kingfisher is supurb with ber character interactions. And haha yeah I loved it 😂
I'm even more excited about The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles now! 😆 Just sounds like the type of cozy read I'm in the mood for.
I love this set up for Recent Releases. It was fun! Vlogs are fun, but I enjoy this format too. What Feasts the Night sounds awesome.
I’m probably not going to read either of these. But I do like the style of the video and the information was great.
I finished the imposition of unnecessary obstacles. And i loved. I hope there will be more
I just started The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles. I liked the first one pretty well so I'm looking forward to the next installment.
I’m excited for the Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles, but like the first I’ll be waiting to get it on sale with birthday coupons. I love this style of a deeper dive on reviews for fewer books per video - it works well from a info management/digestion pov to me 💀
We shall just see if other people like it haha I really like how this one turned out but might try for 3-4 books in the next one!
Really love this new format for the new releases round-up! I am currently rereading What Moves the Dead (gosh, I'd forgotten so much lol), and I am excited to read What Feasts at night asap after this. Loved hearing your thoughts on these novellas!
Thanks for the mention!!!
I dnf’d “A Mimicking of Known Successes” because of the writing style. I wasn’t in the mood for something paced that slowly and written so densely. Especially for a mystery novella. I don’t know if I’ll ever circle back to it.
I love your voice...very soothing for some reason! 💀 ☠ 💀💙👍💙
I get this a lot lol thank you!
I like the format. It's good.
I definitely have What Feasts at Night on my TBR because I loved the first book. I'll keep in mind that it's not as gothic so I am not disappointed. I've seen several reviews now on the Malka Older series, so maybe I'll add that one to read at some point.
Hello!🙂 Amazing video for sure! i should defiantly check out Malka Older, I do love that sort of stuff but don't delve into them as much as I would like. Also the covers for What Feasts at Night is so much better then the ones we have here! Thank you for the tag/shout out I appreciate it, mighty kind of you!
For once the US cover wins! (its a rarity haha) Excited to watch more of your videos and this project helped me find your channel!
@LiteratureScienceAlliance for once 😆 I still find it odd our books are different sizes too. I can't wait to see more of your kids, and I think it's a fantastic idea tbh.
I do like the use of language in Imposition, but I can see how it wouldn't work for everyone!
Have you read-or do you plan to read-Those Beyond the Wall by Micaiah Johnson? I loved it.
Did you know about “alebrijes” by Donna Barba Higuera ? author of The Last Cuentista
Nope but I did go put a hold on it!
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance 😂
I didn't understand, apart from success and request from the publisher, why What Feasts at Night was in the same series. The first book was very based in science and the mycologist and exploring the natural world, so this one being so rooted so wholly in folklore felt discordant for me. What was the mycologist even doing in this story apart from being there because we remember her from book one? I still liked the book for what it was, but I would have liked it more if it wasn't connected to the first book.
Read Kingfisher’s (good, just not as good as first one) and about to start the Malka one 😊
I truly am in the minority of thinking they are both just as good as each other lol
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance I did like how she described trauma as a place not a time. That was really good. I guess the ‘ghost’ element is what I liked a bit less.

I think I need to make peace with the thought that some authors were a "one hit wonder" for me. I adored "What Moves The Ded" but could not connect in the same way with T. Kingfisher's other works that I tried. Same with Sanderson. "The Emperor's Soul" is my favorite novella of all times, but his other works don't click with me.

💀🪐 I read What Feasts at Night and liked it, but was disappointed in the type of horror it was. Definitely agree it was good but not as good as What Moves the Dead. I am waiting to get the ebook for The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles from my library. Adri’s review convinced me to check out book 2.
Adri's review really made me appreciate the sequel even more. I had not noticed the parallels between the interpersonal drama and meta drama until they brought it up
I just read both of these (perfect timing on my part for once!) and I think I rated both right around 4 stars. Neither are new favorites but I really enjoyed them nonetheless. In What Feasts At Night I thought the exploration of the attitude of the main character towards superstitions of their home country and how ready they were to dismiss them was very interesting. There was a sort of assumption of patriotic pride that was in actuality wrapped around a core of condescension and ready dismissal for the lived experiences of those from their country in evidence. 🦋 💀 🪐
What feasts at night really captured the reluctant return of a local super well, didn't even noticed how that played into their rebellion against accepting local superstition but you are so right
