    • @@TheVlad1616 yep that's Rick's problem alright. He knows what the smart play ought to be but he seems to let the situation and the thought of dropping a shot against a top player get the better of him. He then messes up the recovery shot and ends up with a double or a triple instead of dropping only 1 shot.

    • I am also. When he was in college, a week or so after winning the NCAA, but before winning the US am, he was at our course qualifying for the US Opnen. I walked into the bar to get a coke in the middle of my practice day (Sunday before the actual qualifying rounds) , and there was one guy there. Tiger was on the TV. This was the memorial the day after he shot an 85. I asked the guy how Tiger was doing, and he said "only hit 5 fairways, but 3 under". I looked at him and it took a moment, but I recognized him. I said "hey, you won the NCAA last week". "Yeah, I did" (sheepish grin) . I couldn't remember his name and he helped me. So he and I talked for 20-30 minutes...mostly about physics and math. He was a physics major, I was a chemistry major. I mentioned I loved quantum mechanices, but did badly on my diff eq. course. He had the opposite experience, did well in diff eq, but didn't do well in quantum. I asked him how he could hit is long irons as far as he did, because the shaft lenght was the same as his seven iron, and he couldn't get the same clubhead speed, due the the short shaft. I felt a bit foolish when he told the the obvious answer, he just increased the mass, so the mass x velocity (momentum) was higher for his higher irons. The difficulty he had was in figuring out how to distribute the excess mass. It was a fun conversation. Felt like talking to a long term friend about mutual interests. It's interesting to me to hear some criticize him, because they think he is just putting on airs when he talks about the science. NO. This guy has an engineering/science mindset, and the mind to pull it off. Those who criticize him don't know what it is like to dissect a problem into its component parts, like engineers and scientsts do, and approach a solution logically. He is the real deal. Bright, inquisitive mind.

  • I really enjoyed that challenge match. A tour Pro with 3 clubs is a great concept. Although the krank is a monster you hit all your clubs big distances so maybe a mid iron might have been better, say a 6 iron giving you some versatility off the fairway, the krank at 6° even in your hands is a no no. But obviously the 9 holes you played allowed you to carry the driver as part of the 3. I think Rick did well, albeit he is although a PGA pro he is at best a 4 handicapper although has to play off scratch.

  • Bryson, I admire you & appreciate the changes you've made to your swing and the game-changing results that you've brought to your tournament play. Rick, you're a good guy & you have improved your driver play, but your wedge play is shameful. You might as well have a garden trowel in your hands because all that will happen is that you'll dig a hole behind the ball. You're so bad that the following tip will work for you: stop looking at the back of the ball when you pitch or chip. Instead, look at the front edge of the ball. Don't question that advice; just try it.

  • Always been a Bryson fan and watched him grow as a golfer but now seeing him on a personal level and with my favourite Golf personality RS it's just awesome

  • We get to see the real person here and Bryson doesn't disappoint, great guy. Hope to see more of these, maybe playing by handicaps.

  • Bryson / Rick have great synergy and that equates to watchable content.

  • Rick hooks it. "I didn't quite get the cut there." Since Rick has no way of determining whether his drives are draws or cuts, that is a tremendous limitation on his game, because he will often end up having to get up and down from odd positions.
