ANDREW HAMILTON - THE STORY (SHROOMS / PRISON / COMEDIAN)

2023 ж. 22 Шіл.
894 290 Рет қаралды

Andrew Hamilton grew up in the far north shore of Sydney. He had a good upbringing, but found himself convicted for selling a large commercial quantity of magic mushrooms, LSD and the supply of MDMA.
A self proclaimed 'Mushroom King', Andrew sold shrooms for over a decade before getting arrested.
After doing time in prison, Andrew has found a passion in stand up comedy and is travelling around Australia making people laugh.
The power of laughter which he experienced in a maximum security prison was the light-bulb moment that took Andrew from the cell to the stages.

  • Thanks for sharing an amazing personal story. I've been through something similar and like you, it was the love from friends that really made a world of difference. Friends from my younger days I haven't heard from in years called to check in on me regularly and share stories of why they believe in me. Eventually I found my purpose in life too. I work with vulnerable populations, a fair number of them being drug users or struggle with mental health or trauma. I have realized that providing them with unconditional love and never judging or being disappointed in them has really helped empower them to do better and move towards a more positive life. I'm so glad you have that in your life too. Keep it up, a lot of people are really proud of you. Hugs

  • coming from knowing u from YeahMad i 100% thought this was a comedy skit parody of similar sort of videos of people with a rough/criminal past talking about their experiences. Kinda shocked that its real, but very much appreciate that Andrew is willing to talk about this sort of stuff, i think it can really put into perspective for a lot of ppl, whether or not they have similar problems, its just really helpful to listen about how ppl can overcome stuff like this. I think a lot of us can appreciate how lucky we are, but also sympathise with the sort of feelings you describe and realise how we can’t let that sink us into oblivion and need to just move on the best we can and avoid letting those sort of addictions escalate.

  • So glad after all the episodes of joy I've gotten from watching him on Yeahmad to get the actual story they're always referring to. Love Hammo and am looking forward to where he's going next!! Additionally, I'm excited to see in the coming years how mushrooms and other psychedelics will be turned to for therapeutic purposes and taken off lists of illicit substances. His experience of them being spiritual and healing is so true.

  • One of the most honest and down to earth interviews you'll watch, watching Andrew on yeahmad you'd never say that's the life he once lived even with the piss taking and the odd comment from the other guys you'd still never know it was as bad as it was for him 100% worth watching

  • This is so awesome, the tone and content is on point. This showcases a level of self realisation, which doesn’t include any victimisation or delusion. Just accepting what you did, what resulted and how you reacted, Respect.

  • Very Inspirational @andrewhamiltoncomedy. It's a rare talent to sum up the crazy ups and downs in your life and put it in such a simplistic way. The best part is how you accepted reality and owned your mistakes, you are always looking out to find the positives. Lots of love and wishes for your career and as a stand up comedian

  • Love your story mate. I followed practically the exact same road about 55 years ago. The vacation at the crossbar inn ended the drug era. I didn't drank until my early 40s. Was always party hardy and up for a good laugh but had fallen down a few times Too many so I put the booze away. Spent much time agonizing over what I would do when I quit drinking. To my amazement it was the beginning of my life at age 42. Don't need that stuff. None of it. The humor still is there and shall be till the day I die. Love your comedy. Keep up the good work.

I am so proud of you! ❤ Ive been in an constant battle with the world past years, and honestly nothing has given me such amount of faith for my future like your words just did. • Man, Andrew, I am SO happy that I watched this video. It was so far above and beyond anything I expected, and I expected a lot. I'm a huge fan of Yeah Mad and you're one of my favorites on there. I was totally captivated by your story. It's one that I completely relate to. You are a quintessential testament to the Wisdom of the Low Path. I found myself on that path as well. My story is similar to yours, but I was small-time, didn't get busted, and I haven't found any iota of success as far as a job and money is concerned. I wish you much success, and look forward to having a good laugh at the next Yeah Mad episode. I freakin' love you guys. Such great chemistry between you all. Not easy to pick the funniest moment or bit, but my vote is on you vs Matt in Dad Jokes. I still laugh the whole way through that entire segment. Awesome. Keep going, Andrew, me myself and what seems like a whole lot of other people are going to enjoy witnessing you maintaining your ascension and supporting you and your success in comedy. Thank you for sharing your story. It's awesome that there's no need to tell you not to be ashamed of your past. It has contributed the most to the reason you should be proud of who you are. I believe you already know that. Well, I'm sure I'll comment again on something hilarious you do, so until then, do what you do and keep living.
