I understand the excited kids. My son and his friends love the different drive modes in my IX - not only the ambient lighting changes but the iconic sounds too😊
When I first saw the iX photos online, I thought what the hell have BMW done with the styling!! But having since seen quite a few of them on the roads, bizarrely I've got to really like the looks!! Can't explains it!

As name suggests, this is actually evolution of things BMW have been doing since last century (like their 1st production European turbo was preview of things to come).
Good video Joe. As a pom living in Australia I'm liking the UK/Aus dual review. I'd go for a X5 M60i over this, just as quick and save a wad of dosh.

Just realized they replaced the classic BMW Roundel center caps that have been a staple since... I dunno, forever with ridiculous black... coffee can lids(?) that say B M W on them. Wow. So groundbreaking. Nothing says heritage like throwing it away in every way possible.

100%. And the market agrees - this has been an instant sales flop. Not a good look when dealers have to advertise $20K off an all new halo car in the first month of launch.

Insane is paying Porsche premium for shared VW corporate MLB Evo platform, if you don't like this wait for BMW's highest output engine hybrid V8 in neu M5.
I chose Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid two months ago over that. The downside is the electric range, which is fine I guess. 7.2 kW charging is very inferior for a 25.7 kWh battery. Cayenne TSE has a lot of base equipment, including carbon ceramics, and you can find a well specced one with literally all of the options. I wouldn't pay BMW a Porsche price for basically getting an X5M hybrid. Probably, the suspension is also configured harsh, too, though I haven't tested.

Great video as always Joe. I think this car was a great idea, but flawed execution. The ride would be a deal breaker for me. Also the interior is lovely, but without a pan roof, it looks rather oppressive to me, especially in the back. Also I know there is the Red version with nuts power, but I think spending the sort of money this costs and for it not to be as fast as an X5M is also a big miss unfortunately.
I sat in one the other day, it is enormous much bigger than my X5M. Just as big as my Transit 350😂

Nice review Joe. I can’t help but think we should not be producing cars that weigh 3 tonnes! It’s ridiculous. Even two tonnes is way too heavy.
X5MC has steel suspension, which led me to buy a Cayenne instead. Does XM have an air suspension? With this much weight, the steel suspension would be either wobbly or too sturdy.
How much can it tow?

They sell their Bespoke Rolls for million$, when Karmann coachbuilt E9 was new to North America, it listed for more than Corvette, SL or E-Type, with less horsepower, 4 cyl. 2002 priced opposite V8 pony cars. Nothing has changed.

Happy New Year Joe. I only watched some of this video because it was on your channel and I like your thoughts on these vehicles. My thoughts. It’s one of the ugliest design BMW have come up with. And that’s saying something. The hybrid part is a waste and sounds like not necessary. Added cost and weight for very little gain. The looks alone mean I’d never buy one. The electric motor means a definite no. No wonder many car review channels have this as the worse vehicle of 2023.

BMW should pay Joe some money for getting his feedback before they present a car. He probably knows better what the market wants compared to the CEO and product managers at BMW. He is living it whereas those fellas @BMW are there often cause of another reason.... Money or as we say in Germany.... Moneten
BMW management are into 2nd generation of family that saved the co. & they have been expanding it longer than Joe has been alive.
Board is into 2nd generation of families that saved BMW from being plowed under in favour of Daimler truck factory, they have been expanding the co. longer than Joe has been alive & doubled volume this century on Spartanburg X crossovers in segments they didn't compete in last 1. Co. that trolls love to hate just announced record #s. Again.
From a corporate standpoint you cannot argue with this XM or what you describe. BMW's changing automotive portfolio seems to leave many purported BMW lovers wanting. For whatever reason. But doubling volume over the first quarter of a century guarantees nothing for the next 25 years. Personally, I think BMW is threading the needle beautifully with the solid EV offerings built on shared platforms. The XM is a niche vehicle derived from a show car and in that context, not really intended as mainstream, pulls it off quite well.
In hindsight, this could have been Alpina’s first car, rather than an M car.
Only one word can describe this car and it is…..UGLY 😂 Great effort again Joe 👌 Happy New Year 🥳

This car is an off day for BMW. M3 Touring and M2 are excellent. New 5 series is also pretty good as well (if a little too large) But this is a total miss from BMW. Ugly, expensive and just compromised.
Styling is Subjective, not objective.

It was BMW who salvaged Range Rover 20 years ago (along with MINI & Rolls), now they power Indian Tata SUV with BMW V8.

Another polarising BMW. I don’t hate this but I would never buy one, what happened to the BMW’s that used to be desirable?
It’s amazing how stuck in old ways the masses are. This car needs you think outside the box which most cannot do. Who wants to drive an X5,6 or 7 and add to the number of soccer moms on the road! This is a car for visionaries and trendsetters. I don’t know why so many people are hung up about the stacked exhaust. It’s not new and has been seen in the Bugatti Chiron, Lexus IS F, Ferrari California. This car isn’t perfect and the air suspension is the biggest miss. The Label is far more refined especially how the petrol/electric engines interact with each other. As the owner of the Label in the USA, I get multiple positive comments every week and outside of reviewers and online reviews, the reaction is extremely positive. To all the die hard M fans out there, get used to M cars with more weight as this platform is headed to the new M5 and I bet other M cars in the future.
