Probably because a baby is (usually) upside down during a pregnancy and can feel the heartbeat by their bottoms.

My brother got so used to patting his daughter to sleep that he started doing it while he was sleeping. He told me he still wakes up patting the bed every now and then and his daughter is 25 years old now :)

This is me but with my cat or dogs. I notice this when they snuggle me, I would pat them and sometimes wake up to still patting them or patting myself or a pillow when they decided to move around through our sleep lol.

Its funny cause the older you get the less difficult things like this become. I only have 1 daughter, when she was little I remember how hard I thought things were. Well I have 2 Grandbabies now and I see and take care of them every day while my daughter goes to school. I feel now that it's easier to take care of those 2 than it was her when I was younger. @@hanginon1293 my mom said she’s not taking care of any more babies. She did her job raising me and I should raise my own kids. Meanwhile she forgets that her mother in law, my grandmother, helped her so much with me so she and daddy could go to work. They never would have made it without her help. I always wished my mother would have helped. But she divorced dad, he then died of brain cancer and she remarried and moved all the way across the country with her new hubby. He became her whole life, I have not seen her in about 10 yrs. She refuses to visit, and we can’t because we are running a business and renovating and can’t get a day off at all. We would however loved her help at least once. But no, she’s not ever coming here. Her perfect excuse now is “covid prevents me”. I cry when I read stories of grandmas who help raise their grandchildren. It’s how it should me. The Circe of life, only broken by selfish ppl. Sadly.
