All NEW Mercedes-AMG A45 2024 - Visual REVIEW, exterior & interior

If you want the ultimate hot hatch, look no further than the Mercedes-AMG A45 S. This hyper hatch takes performance to ludicrous levels with a 416-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that launches the A45 S from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. That's supercar acceleration from a compact hatchback package.
The A45's performance is indeed its biggest party piece. Mash the accelerator and this AMG missile fires forward with brutal force thanks to prodigious torque and lightning-quick gearchanges from the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The whiplash-inducing acceleration is accompanied by racy pops and crackles from the exhaust that only add to the visceral thrill.
But the A45 S is more than just a straight-line warrior. With 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and AMG's latest chassis tuning, this hot hatch can carry immense speeds through corners. The steering is direct and nicely weighted, body motions are expertly controlled, and the grip levels are tenacious. Dial up the adjustable suspension and powertrain settings to their sportiest modes and the A45 S dances through twisties with incredible agility and poise.
Though it excels at going fast, the A45 S doesn't beat you up over poor roads like some rivals. Leave it in Comfort mode and the ride is impressively supple for such a focused performance machine. The well-insulated cabin also makes it easy to live with in daily driving situations where a rowdy, rock-hard suspension would quickly get old.
Speaking of the cabin, the A45 S gets all the racy AMG trimmings like aggressively bolstered sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and an available performance data recorder. The familiar Mercedes infotainment system is a bit fussy to control at times, but it does have slick graphics and menus for deeper vehicle settings and data monitoring. Overall material quality is excellent.
Practical aspects haven't been forgotten either. There's plenty of space for four adults, and the 35.7 cubic foot trunk is fairly generous for the class and can easily swallow a weekend's worth of luggage.
The biggest demerit for the Mercedes-AMG A45 S is its price. With an MSRP starting at over $63,000, it costs as much as some entry-level luxury performance cars. But hey, you're getting hyper-level thrills in a humble hatchback package. For those who can afford it and want the ultimate hot hatch, the A45 S delivers in spades.
