  • When I was a kid growing up in Point. I use to go through the canal with a little 10 foot Glasspar with a 10 horse Johnson on the back. That was fun..... We are talking late 60's early 70's.

  • What's up dude nice content, I use to use the canal back in the late 70's early 80; s and it traitorous back then, I don't know if you're are aware but the Army corps of engineers back in the 60's placed huge boulders around the bridge, they thought it would calm the turbulence, but it did the complete opposite. as you can see. Alot of people have gotten hurt over years. good job

  • How is it possible that so many people seem to have no concept that water can be dangerous? They seem to be surprised when they cram their unsuitable boats into a steep wave and the people sitting in the bow area get wet. Have they no survival instincts? I think that I knew better than this when I was nine years old.

  • Can't believe the state police which has quadrupled in size and I'm sure the budget many more times then quadrupled don't do a damn thing. I'm not for over enforcing but when a 40 foot boat goes.through on plane?! C'mon y'all should be asking what your tax money is doing. Weak

  • My parents house is right above that gnarly spot in canal on cul de sac. It gets that way on outgoing tide because of a hole created when the old bridge was there. Majority of the canal is 15-20 feet but it drops to almost 50 instantly right there creating the standing wave. Many boats have trouble there and my dad seen many boats sink when the old wooden bridge was in place.

    • Hey, thanks for the info about the canal's depth. That's quite a story about the old bridge and the boats.

  • I'm a retired truck driver and it's a common saying that "there's always one in the bunch" (meaning that every day, there's at least one other driver out there that will inevitably do something stupid to cause, or almost cause, a wreck or some other accident). I've also got fifty plus years of hunting, fishing, and operating a boat. In the "water" arena, the "there's always one" statement is wholly underestimating things. Just pick one video of this ilk, and you can spot violation after violation in em...and, that's just by having a very limited knowledge of boating and maritime laws and regulations. C'mon people, please keep the pontoons (and all other small watercraft) in the flat-water areas of rivers, streams, and lakes. It's beyond common sense and negligent to pilot one out in the inlets, bays, and inter-coastal waters that get tidal surges, much less out on the big water. Use your brains a little bit before you're the cause of a friend, family member, or loved one's injuries and/or drowning. Also, people should take five minutes to read up on how to properly use their power trim/jackplate for adjusting the pitch and angle of their motors and out-drives. If Hooked on Phonics didn't work for ya, there's always vids on this platform. I know that I'm probably gonna get roasted by the "basement-trolls," but I care not. I have no ego to bruise. Apologies for all the ratchet-jawing if anybody made it this far.

  • Is there a license requirement to operate a boat there? Is there a rule about how close jet skis can get to motorboats?

    @paulhall7@paulhall710 ай бұрын
    • Just the normal general boating license nothing specific to the Canal. There are rules about jet skis getting too close to motorboats. Jet skis also aren’t allowed in the canal.

    • Any specific USCG testing or training or is that just if you are going to be a boat captain and charge for your services? Does the Coast Guard requirements only apply to operating in off coast boating? Thanks for enlightening an inquiring mind.

  • Even I could understand what the kid at the beginning was yelling: "SLOW DOWN!". He had a point, the bigger boat in front was creating a wake that endangers smaller boats going the other way.

    • Check out this video. We show some examples of why that boat was doing what he was doing 🚨 INSANE! Speed Demons on the Canal! Reckless Boaters Gone Wild in Point kzhead.info/sun/oZSBYbugfpaVpnk/bejne.html

      @CoastalBoating@CoastalBoating Жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, but if smaller boats go too slow in that, it can cause them to dip their nose. That is why the skipper ignored the inexperienced young mans command to "SLOW DOWN!". Cuz the skipper knows if he goes too slow, he is gonna scoop a boatfull of water.

  • Its illegal to ride on the swim platform? What about all the new boats without a transom

    @BlackMac525@BlackMac525 Жыл бұрын
    • Thats a good question! Here is what the New Jersey Law has to say. *13:82-1.13 Riders (a)* The operator of a vessel shall not allow any person to ride in any position that would endanger life or limb nor allow passengers or cargo in excess of the maximum capacity stated on the manufacturer’s or U.S. Coast Guard capacity label. 1. This prohibition includes, but is not limited to, any position where the person may be in danger of falling overboard. 2. This prohibition excludes all positions which may be necessary for the operation or safety of the vessel.

    • It reads to me then that captains that allow passengers to be tossed around in the bowriders could be charged interesting. I find no such wording in canadian marine law so far cheers

      @BlackMac525@BlackMac525 Жыл бұрын
    • The Captain is always responsible for the saftey of his/her passengers. Bow-riders fall into a interesting area. Its perfectly legal to ride in the bow of a bow-rider although not really smart in rough water. If an accident were to happen due to the captain's actions he could be charged.

    • The other issue with the swim platform is carbon monoxide poisoning

      @2010CaptainDave@2010CaptainDave Жыл бұрын
    • Then that would be an issue with other open transom boats? But it doesnt seam to happen. Probably because the under water exhaust prevents it
