There are very tough people in the U.S . Men women and even very young children . I myself thought I was pretty tough having been in the Marines many years ago . But anyone who could watch MTG on a interview on 60 minutes is much tougher then I ever was .

I agree with your point about the source of the demise of our nation, it is a malaise fed by ignorance. I grew up in the 1970s when, as a young person, I loved to read about history and politics. Later, in the 1980s, there was a lot written about the coming demise of the USA, about how the might always fall given enough time. The popular thinking looked to external forces, foreign powers or the failure of capitalist democracy. Sadly, the reality is mundane. It seems stupidity and a lack of curiosity among the people who don’t understand what a privilege it is to be born in this country.
