  • He's a naturally funny guy. His constant denial of every impression's accuracy is just part of his schtik. It's like, I remember when the movie "Galaxy Quest" came out, he mentioned that he recognized every character as a Star Trek reference, except for the Tim Allen part. He was like, "for the life of me, I don't know who he's supposed to be. What are they doing with this?"

  • I saw Shatner at a sci fi convention. The audience was on the verge of rioting because the electricity went out, but the charismatic Shatner ran to the center of the stage and yelled orders at everyone, which they obeyed to the letter just as happened on Star Trek. It became so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. He is a natural leader in real life.

  • The Kirk character was a believable threat, in all situations. Like the character Jim West. He wasn't some muscle bound behemoth, he was a credibly build for a wrestler. The action was always gritty and realistic which helped ground the fantastical situations of the show. People tease over his cadence but fail to notice the subtle fact that the alien beings he's interacting with, don't speak English as a first language. Shatner was a true actor, and played the role of Kirk like few men could.

  • I once took theater classes in highschool and to help fight my nervousness I always channeled Captain Kirk into my performances, and it would always make everyone laugh, helping loosen up the mood a bit allowing me to endure, continue and learn more. 👍

  • Gotta tell you, Mr Shatner, sir - they do you well. As a matter of fact I loved Chris Pine as you - superb - that whole cast did the whole crew of the original series so spectacularly!!!!! ❤️💕❤️💕❤️

  • I just realized, Shatner is one of my few personal childhood hero’s that wasn’t doing something horrible. Thanks for that man.

    • I agree! I can't tell if the comments on this video are real or not, or if people really don't get that it's tongue-in-cheek. The line where he's like "I don't like Belushi as me but [this thin handsome guy] does it really well." haha!

  • Comedian Freddy Lewis used to do a wonderful impression of Captain Kirk during his residency at The Holy City Zoo back in '82. If you closed your eyes, you'd swear that you were on the deck of The Enterprise listening to Kirk threaten to intern Sulu ...again. Man, I miss Freddy Lewis.
