Spider-Man the reign storyline is the most heart wrenching comic I ever read; despite all the trauma Peter endured, he is always there willing to get back up into heroics no matter what. This is a very good video and I really enjoyed it, thx again plot armor.
It does also have the infamous radioactive spidersperm that kills loved ones
Seemed like a Wannabe Return of the Dark Knight. Could've been handled better. Also I dont think it would be possible for Peter to lose that much mass as an old man considering how his powers work

spiderman reign was really a suprise for me it was hard seeing my favorite superhero so old and powerless but also inspiring that he came back to his old self even through all the hardships and trauma he went through
I love how the Hulk is shown as a true protector of Bruce as well as being his own person. "When you hurt Banner, I take it personal." I loved that seeing that line come from none other than the Jade Giant himself.

You forgot the mention that the actual end to Reign (I think it was in spider verse) was that Peter got his head smashed in with Mary-Janes gravestone.

The Marvel Max Punisher run from Garth Ennis was pretty dark. Maybe not so apocalyptic in scope, but human trafficking, disembowelment, immolation, and more were in just one brief arc...
Punisher Max is dark and fantastic. I'm not huge on comics, but I adore that one. Always fun to see Frank Castle go full Doomslayer on some people who really deserve it.
For the Netflix Punisher series they went pretty close to that one of the plots were drug dealing through veteran Corpses
Same with Punisher Marvel Knights, also by Garth Ennis. Knights was the precursor to Max if I am not mistaken. The wildest is the storyline of the child who his smothered by his obese mother. To survive he cannibalizes on her corpse until the police come and find him. He then develops a necro fetish and becomes a killer of homeless people and becomes this deranged junkie. After that storyline I was like wtf.

@@doginhat13 I remember hearing about that in real-life. Happened during 'Nam, at least according to the story. I never learned whether that was based on actual events or just an urban legend, but frankly, neither would surprise me, & true or false, that story still makes the rounds word-of-mouth to this day.
In my opinion, none of the stories you mention reaches the heights of tragicity and drama of the miniseries "Ruins" (1995) by Warren Ellis

I feel that the first story would have benefited better if their was no actual super bad guy. Maybe just a regular dude who was able to control NYC. The real villian was Peter's struggles and overcoming them.

I wonder if Disney+ will make an animated series about these dark stories and future ones cause we have seen Hulk and Iron man’s dark side now what about the others. Captain America, Hawkeye, Ant man and others should have storylines like these that show just how dark of a world some heros are pushed into.

I like the idea of magneto in the comics going through great lengths to make sure humanity survives in the comics. Fighting apocalypse alone, holding back the marvel zombies. The movies make him out to be a bad guy but dudes got some heart. And he's a total fucking goon.

Wait ... 12:55 i never saw that as Colossus willingly closing the door, i saw it as a desperate Colossus trying with all his might to keep it open and help his students, his mission was completed, he got his sister out, now he wanted to return for his team but he couldn't keep the door opened. Unless I'm missing something, there wasn't a line that implied that he closed the door, in fact he says that he has to push in order to keep it open.
The dialogue in the boxes implied he gave up. And although it’s been a while since I read AoA, it was heavily implied that he was not the noble hero of 616 at the time, and that he was fairly selfish.
@@madebycarter unless you can cite the dialogue itself it doesn't really do any good to the conversation cuz it's just conjecture. heavily implied has a subjective meaning - we know he's still selfless cuz he cares about keeping his sister safe, but *selfish* is a different thing entirely. he didnt do any of this for himself, he did it for his sister
@@MVCx_xB I was referring to the dialogue in the boxes in the video. But sure, I’ll dig up the issue from 1995 to cite it for you. Colossus in AoA was not the same kind spirit of 616. Iirc he was somewhat cruel and militant. And he was not selfless. He ran over kitty pride and killed her because he was so tunnel focused on his sister. 616 colossus wouldn’t have done that. He was blind with rage and only cared his sister, nothing else. Hardly the selfless hero you make him out to be.

Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears and Moon Knight: The Bottom, while not being time-hopping doom sandwiches filled with magic, really starve you for some light until the end of them.
Craig Kyle and Chris Yost are great X-Authors. While their X-Force run was great, if I had to pick one dark, deep, and truly thought provoking X-Men story it would have to be “God Loves, Man Kills”. That graphic novel is actually the origin of Rev. Stryker and his Purifiers that you cited in the X-Force run. It’s a must read for any X-Men fan!

I remember when Age of Apocalypse started, in Wolverine vol.2 90 a fight with Sabretooth Wolvie's got his fist under Creed's chin, pops two claws then as he pops the middle claw up into Creed's brain, reality shifts into AoA
This is one of the best comic-book YT videos I have ever seen. I've been reading/collecting since the 70s. I walked out of Tim Burton's Batman, at the theater, because I was into the deranged Killing Joke Joker. Jack Nicholson prancing around in that Batman 66 era costume and dancing to Prince, was like nails on a chalkboard. I am always looking for the dark storylines and characters. Thanks for this. I'm going to start digging into your other videos and def recommend your channel.

Bruce has d.i.d. i.e. dissociative identity disorder, formerly known as split personality disorder. Those personalities were created in those childhood traumas Bruce suffered. Gamma simply gave them physical forms.

I’m thinking of starting off books of Luke Cage volumes
dude you have to read X-Men: Red (2022) and Avengers X-Men Eternals: Judgment Day (2022). Both ongoing and they tie into each other. I won't spoil much but it takes place on Mars. the mutants (X-Men) started life on the planet and for that, a war is started. Its a story full of action that shows perspective of all 3 teams ( The Avengers, X-Men and Eternals). early into the story it looks like life on the entire planet is over.
Spider-Man Reign itself ended hopeful, so it's a shame that all the stupid Morlund crap pissed on it during the Spider-Verse stuff.

Punisher Hulk😮 they should have a Punisher Hulk with a skull 💀 but its his muscle that makes the skull his chest muscles are the eyes and His 8 pack will be the teeth and it will be a darker green so you can see the skull 💀
