    • You should read "Kingdom Come" and "What's so Funny about Truth, Justice and the American Way?" (For the latter, you can substitute watching "Superman vs. the Elite" if you must). The former is basically "What if Injustice, but Superman doesn't wind up being the one to blow up Metropolis, and he actually sticks with his ideals rather than straight up unaliving the clown." It is far truer to Superman's character (at the time it was written anyways), and while Superman does stumble in a few places while returning, as he begins to think that harsher methods may be justified, he still never even approaches the level of Injustice Superman. The latter has a bunch of "anti-hero" types show up to try and take over Superman's job, and the conflicts between them escalate to them trying to kill Superman, and Superman...Superman shows you exactly how terrifying a Superman who's willing to kill is, and why you should *never* want such a thing. *Superman* should never have killed the Joker. *The legal system* should have. Let's be honest...if they get a jury trial with Gothamite jurors they're coming back with "Super-ginormo-guilty" verdict within 60 seconds of deliberation. That's not even touching on the fact that the GCPD *somehow* hasn't had Joker "shot resisting arrest" yet. Or the Arkham guards. Or most of the supercriminal inmates.

Seeing heroes like him & Superman fall so far is honestly terrifying to see. Like I sometimes get sleep paralysis right before I drift off & scary thoughts pop into my head, the other night I was thinking about Superman with the yellow ring going on a murder spree and annihilating a planet in Year 2. I had to shake my head around just so I could move again because when that paralysis happens, it makes my thoughts WAY scarier than they actually are & it starts to feel like reality even tho it’s just a comic.

  • What I love about the thumbnail(Joker death scene is Batman’s countenance. He’s not shocked by Superman killing the Joker because he’s now lost his job, nor the fact he loves the Joker(believe me Batman would want the Joker dead just as much as anyone would), he’s shocked because he has just watched Superman, the most powerful being on earth, brutually take a life, crossing a line that he will never come back from. But he also knew that Superman was dealing with his greif in an unhealthy way that would assure a global catastrophe in his part. Batman doesn’t care who Superman took the life of, he cares about Superman’s mental state. In Batman’s mind, he wasn’t thinking about grieving his nemesis(I know he was relieved that he wouldn’t need to worry about the Joker breaking out anymore), what was going through his mind is that he realized Superman had crossed a line that was going to have catastrophic consequences. And it sure did. Superman developed a taste for killing that turned him into a supervillain and mad dictator. The reason Batman doesn’t kill people is that he fears he’d never know when to stop killing. Thus he fears that if Justice League member killed, that member also wouldn’t know when to stop killing.Except they’d be more out of control. When he watched Superman cross that line, he was now thinking about watching his greatest fear get into motion through the body and broken mind of a kryptonian, which he knew was going to play out on a more catastrophic scale that he could unleash it on himself.

The best example is at 2:10:21, where he's gripping his cape like it's a safety blanket, but at other times it's as simple as him rubbing his face/head, avoiding eye contact, or replying with silence. Just goes to show how fragile his mental health became, and how unstable but powerful people can become extremely dangerous after experiencing severe trauma.

    • Yeah, the power scaling doesn't make sense sometimes. Aquaman manages to hurt one of the top Greek gods, Poseidon. He stands no chance against a serious Superman. Zeus wrecks Superman with ease (as he should). Although he is the most powerful Greek God, is he really that much more powerful than his brother?

      @justherald1117@justherald11172 жыл бұрын
    • I honestly enjoy the fact that they actually use power scaling here. Poseidon is eaten by a shark and brushes it off. Superman can't even touch Zeus or any of the others without attacking from behind like a coward. It's shown that The High Father can literally stop time. Meta humans are just big fish in a very small pond compared to the gods

    @bar7955@bar79552 жыл бұрын
    • He is a children cartoon character, thrown into a gritty timeline without loosing his goofy traits. I think it was Batman who said that Plastic Man has scarcely a weakness and were he not a goofball, he'd be very dangerous indeed. We've seen a glimpse of that in DCeased timeline, where he was infected by anti-life and wanted to only murder. That form of his was terrifying, a hellish demon, bloodred ocean of gaping maws, teeth and barbs.

Any ice powered hero or villain can stop him; likewise, any flame-based one as well. Then you go into other powers, like teleportation, acid spewers, any with mental/psionic powers... he's not really that hard to take out
