Well, they didn't take it out. Sega Genesis has sound limitations, thus allowing errors to occur. Just like how the press start button from sonic 1 isnt visible due to a unknown mess up.

Funny thing about that flourish. I first played this game through the PC Collection in the mid 2000s. Eventually when I got around to playing the Mega Drive original some time after, and the Final Boss track didn't include it, I legit thought I had imagined it.

It doesn't contain a piece of Stranger in Moscow. It's just a similar chord progression that appears in many songs. This was also featured in Generations 3D and the composition is credited as "SEGA"

The sonic 3 credits theme was composed by Brad buxer. He made that theme and later presented it to michael Jackson in a piano arrangement. That's how stranger in Moscow was born.

Well, they didn't take it out. Sega Genesis has sound limitations, thus allowing errors to occur. Just like how the press start button from sonic 1 isnt visible due to a unknown mess up.
As someone who grew up with the PC version I was always a bit disappointed that the original didn't have the flourish before the loop. It's really cool to finally hear it!

Funny thing about that flourish. I first played this game through the PC Collection in the mid 2000s. Eventually when I got around to playing the Mega Drive original some time after, and the Final Boss track didn't include it, I legit thought I had imagined it.
Despite Stealth saying Jun Senoue would do "FM Makeovers" of the tracks featured in this series, there's enough evidence pointing to the Origins versions being Mega Drive recordings of an even earlier build, probably from October 93. There’s Big Arms, then there’s Final Death Egg Superhuge Arms with Master Laser and (clearly not ripped from SMAS+SMW) fireball sneeze.
I think you should just title this "Final Boss" as that's what everyone's most familiar with, not to mention there are multiple Final Bosses in the game aside from Big Arms, though that's when the game is Sonic 3 *& Knuckles* or just Sonic & Knuckles.

@@corpsemachine6949 True/Secret Final Boss, you mean. It was called such because that was the boss it was used for in Generations. They did the same thing with every other boss like the Death Egg Robot; they didn't call it "Sonic 2 Final Boss" or anything.
Final bosses are found in doomsday zone, or the knuckles version of doomsday zone.
I hate when people title a soundtrack video after not the official name, if you're going to upload a soundtrack video, you have to name a soundtrack title after it's official title imo

Hey guys, you remember when this prototype was found that people thought the PC sountrack was the original and that the final Genesis tracks were the ones made by MJ? Then how the fuck does this track (which contains a part from Stranger in Moscow/the Credits theme from S3) exist?
It doesn't contain a piece of Stranger in Moscow. It's just a similar chord progression that appears in many songs. This was also featured in Generations 3D and the composition is credited as "SEGA"

@Imperfect Cell yes it is just the final boss theme, and I don’t think it was planned for it to play during the big arms fight before the game was split in 2
It's the first instance the song is used, and is how Sonic Generations refers to this theme on the OST. The final boss theme is used in the doomsday zone.

Michael was in the project since the beginning. The evidence is this song that contains parts from Strange in Moscol.
This song has no influence from Michael Jackson. It has been remixed multiple times after the game's release and it was made by SEGA only.

The sonic 3 credits theme was composed by Brad buxer. He made that theme and later presented it to michael Jackson in a piano arrangement. That's how stranger in Moscow was born.
