It is really cool to live in a pillager outpost in survival. You can make like each floor a type of room, kitchen, bedroom, enchanting, living room, anything. You can also build something on the roof.
Think I had the rarest base of all until my save corrupted, I lived in a beached shipwreck that crossed a biome border. Not only was it right next to it's own treasure chest, the biome swap caused the ship to be half jungle and half spruce, completely mismatched.

for the 8 years ive been playing minecraft... i never seem a jungle edge biome
I have only seen one (yet), and i found it after walking 1.9 mil blocks.
You probably have, it’s just that they are usually tiny as they are a border biome between the jungle and specific biomes. They have sparse trees and spaced out patches of leaves on the ground. Rarer than that is the modified jungle edge: that same biome but with mountainous terrain. You place a house in one of those, it’ll take most of the space. Best way to find one of those is through a seed finder.

I remember back when my cousin got Minecraft back in like 1.1, we made this massive floating diamond city right at height limit (it was as tacky as it sounds) and at the bottom was an extreme hills filled with pillars of cobblestone covered in lava. The 2 weirdest bases I've made were "suspended over lava pool" (in a shore biome or the smallest desert I've seen close to a bay) and all ice (made in peaceful on bedrock, 2 stories, bed had to be on non-ice blocks). That last was a house but not a base. (Takes a while when you don't have silk touch.)
My main municipality is in the snow biome, and I have set up a few railway networks that go to the sea via the villages that fall in between, each village having its own railway station. Not of much benefit, but I'm a railway fan you see.
