  • Not sure if I commented here as yet. Watched this video few times already. It is such an emotional viewing. You have no idea how heartbreaking it is to watch...all that gray hair, old bodies, all of them seniors...life wasted inside cages, lifes stolen....but at long, long last some freedom in this absolutely stunning place with so many trees, grass, bushes....and loving care....no more pain, no more terror....Thank you...

    • Erock Stoenescu Thank you so much for your kind offer. Project Chimps is entirely privately funded by supporters like you. The great thing is that all of our supporters do what they can, from making monetary donations (projectchimps.org/support-us/donate/) or small gestures like buying a bag of mixed nuts for the chimps from our Amazon Wish List (ow.ly/g9kM30j4fSY). Just sharing our stories helps too!

  • Thank you so, so very much for providing them a sanctuary for them to live the rest of their lives. They have contributed to the well-being of us humans and now it's their time to live free, happy and healthy. I just wish "us" called "humans" didn't have to subject them to such all the prodding and poking just so "us" "humans" will benefit from their suffering. They're our closest kin I believe we share 99% of their make up and why we think for the sake of science we feel it's alright to do that to them. This is really upsetting me and I say science be damned and I ain't apologizing for my outburst. I hate what's been done to them. Praying for their good health and living free. God bless them!!

  • My earlier comment should have read Jim Cronin the founder of Monkey World. And UK not UJ. There was a long-running series on tv, which recorded the progress of the animals and keepers for many years, and this is still repeated on t.v. every week. I watch it over and over ! Jeremy Keeling, who began as friend and supporter with Jim in 1987 has given his life to caring for these lovely cheeky animals, and may have now retired. He had a wonderful way with them, and has been a rock for Alison, after Jim's untimely death in 2007. For bless you alk.

And all the amazing smells they're encountering for the first time - their senses must have been overwhelmed! (I don't mean that negatively, I just don't know another way to say it.) Amazingly intelligent creatures doing what comes naturally when up to this point in time in the lives, they were locked in cages, no enrichment, no being chimps, no living together as a troop. Heart breaking to think about but I try to focus on their lives now and tomorrow.

    • Can't we rejoice in their freedom without it becoming a condemnation of all mankind, after all, we are very capable creatures and it was human compassion that built the habitat in the first place. It's also been observed that chimps engage in warfare, tear monkeys apart and eat them alive and, on occasion, practice cannibalism. We are all products of nature and evolution and none of us have exactly earned our existence and yet, here we are, doing our best, learning, experiencing, eating, striving and loving and, hopefully, not judging.

  • Did anyone of them try the electric fence to see if it works?

    @christopherfranklin4760@christopherfranklin47605 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks for the question, Christopher. They don't really "test" the fence. One chimp may touch it if they try to climb and they receive a small shock. It doesn't injure them and is enough of a deterrent so that they usually don't touch it again. Most of the chimps observe another chimp and never touch it at all. Our staff has touched the fence so we know exactly what it feels like. It stings a little. The fences are a necessary security measure around the perimeter of the 6-acre outdoor habitat, which was originally built for gorillas, who don't climb like chimps do.

He wasn't supposed to go in between the 2 fences, but he did. And a chimp grabbed him and pulled him under the fence in front of a group of visitors. Chimps are wonderful, intelligent animals. • That's just meaningless semantics, a hug is a hug, no matter what stage of development you're on, besides, what are we to call it, a "chug" or a "hunzee" or an "embrace de chimp"? People are so hung up on definitions nowadays, in such performative and superficial ways...

  • Human did that to them! Instead of leaving them alone, human experimented on them for years and years then what ever time they have left the human KINDA set them free to still live in cages where if the human just would have left them alone they could have lived free in the wild with out cages and electric fences. So sad!! I personally with all PRIMATES would live free fron cages

  • *The only way to heaven is to ask the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, there is no other way to enter the kingdom of heaven* *John Chapter 10 Verse 9* *I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.* *John Chapter 3 Verse 15-18* *15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.* *16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.* *17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world; through him might be saved.* *18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.* *Ask for salvation now remember God does not send anyone to hell you do that yourself by not asking for salvation. Jesus died on the cross he took the sins of everyone, but if you don't ask for salvation then you have to pay the price for your sins and that means hell and hell is only a waiting place for the day of judgment and when you are in front of the white throne on the day of judgment you will go to the lake of fire and it's far worse than what hell can give you 1000's of times worse.* *Believe that Jesus is the son of God that God sent his only son to die on the cross for our sins, that he rose the third day and ascended into heaven. Know that you are a sinner. For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans Chapter 3 Verse 23).* *Ask with your heart speak with your lips do this in private* *Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have* *separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away* *from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me* *avoid sinning again.* *I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected* *from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become* *the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward.* *Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will* *for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.* *Many will call themselves a Christian but have never asked for salvation so are not born again* *Matthew Chapter 24 Verse 11 - 13* *11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.* *12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.* *13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.*
