    • I would never allow this type of thing with my kids ever. My brother was a animal man and had large snakes and I never trusted them he fed rats to them. Once my neighbour's snake escaped and I lived on the 3rd floor with my kids and it snuck into my other neighbour's window and was found in the kids room and the police had to be called but even though the snake was apparently tame the snake was wrapping itself around a sleeping childs leg and wouldn't let go .

  • This is an incredible example of the bond between a snake and its owners. Since the snakes were raised and handled regularly since birth, they’ve grown to be docile and laidback pets. You can tell that the daughter is very respectful and gentle with the snakes as well. The full interview of the father isn’t told in this short, so I suggest you look into it for yourself. He’s very responsible and experienced with snakes, and has worked to ensure the snakes were socialized properly and safe for his daughter to interact with. He’s kept the snakes for about 10 years now, and even has a KZhead channel where he shares videos of the snakes and his daughter.

In the full interview the dad explains that he would not allow his daughter or others near his snakes until they were fully socialized, sometimes handling them multiple times a day to ensure they would be comfortable with human touch and not view people as food. People are so quick to judge without actually doing any research.

    @epiczk0n141@epiczk0n1418 ай бұрын
    • It’s not to keep them from viewing people as food, no species of snake will *ever* see a human as food. I keep ball pythons and a species of large boa, the reason behind socializing them is because they are afraid of us, they think that we are going to eat them and so they become agitated and sometimes defensive being handled if they aren’t properly socialized from a young age. Those fearful behaviors can be corrected with more handling and socialization as adults too thankfully, they’re basically just big scaly dogs.

Kids are unpredictable and so are the animals. Difference is when a small animal bites a child vs a snake that can crush someone so small within seconds. What if she had touched something that smelled like snake food? I know some ball python owners got bitten because they touched leather etc.

Ie the child is always within supervision of her parents when playing with her pets. And maybe snakes can’t form complex emotions with others but it’s basic affection. And depending on the snake and their feeding response (in which the owners already made them bond to recognize that the other snakes know she’s NOT PREY) they will not have that response.

    • If it offers any consolation, the demeanor of the green anaconda in the Anaconda movie was extremely unrealistic. It was more of a monstrous portrayal of a green anaconda injected with ridiculously powerful steroids. A real green anaconda would be quite slow and sluggish in nature. They’re surprisingly shy and tolerant animals as well. Reportedly, they’re so docile that people are able to simply carry off wild green anacondas with little to no issues. Funnily enough, one of the directors who worked on the Anaconda movie thought that a green anaconda’s face was too “puppy-like” to be seen as scary. They changed the green anaconda’s face to resemble a viper’s face to make the snake appear more threatening in the movie.

Still would not take the chance personally, BUT hey, to each their own. Pretty sure the snake could quickly wrap around and crush the girl if it really wanted too, although I the snakes in these clips do seem pretty docile, which is probably why this is "ok" with the parents and has relatively low chance of provoking an incident. As a kid, I would have loved to have more contact with snakes. I don't trust them, but they're still pretty cool.

There are only about 2 yearly deaths from constrictor snakes worldwide, and 30-50 deaths from dogs in the US alone. But if the big pet snake in the video was replaced with a big dog instead, people would think that the video would be cute and love how gentle the dog was when sniffing and crawling around the girl. This isn’t dangerous if you’re a responsible owner. As long as the snake doesn’t have a history of biting defensively and the child is always supervised by an adult, it’s safe to let them interact.

I live in Ohio and somehow the factory down the road had one of these things up on top of one of their silos a few years back. It's cool to like snakes. I understand their purpose in nature. Though I'm not going to have one as a pet and especially one that big. My kids little I put my damn foot down..... We weren't bringing one of those things into our home. All it takes is one effing time of being off your guard. It's not a dog that can be trained. It most likely likes the warmth of her body. It's also probably sizing her up for that time it might just be hungry. That isn't a little snake. If you want a snake get a snake that doesn't get so big and isn't venomous. If you want a reptile... Get a lizard.... At least some of those have personalities. I'm so sick and tired of people talking about animals is if they're humans. I'm sick and tired of people thinking they can control the animal world and that animals have and understanding like humans do. Even household pets still have wild instinct within them. This is dumb on so many levels.

  • For those who feel horrified by this… I just have a single question: how would you feel about this same little girl doing these same things with two Labrador retrievers? Or any dog/s over 40 pounds? I was attacked by a Labrador retriever as a child. He was a large, powerful animal, fully capable of killing 4-year-old me (though I do not believe that was his intent-he was nonetheless growling and agitated, and aggressive towards the nearby adults who intervened). No one even questioned whether a 4-year-old girl should be interacting with said dog or not. In years to come, after the fact… no one questioned it, either. I’ve known of many, many families that left children younger than this alone with dogs of every kind, and treated anyone who questioned the safety of the situation like an overprotective, helicopter-parenting lunatic. Dogs take many human lives each year in the U.S. alone, including the lives of many children. In a lot of cases, these dogs were trusted, family pets, who were raised alongside the children they later injured/killed. I don’t hate dogs-I love them, in fact! I have a dog now, and also later had one as a child, who I loved dearly (and yes, he was a large dog). Still, the fact remains that dogs are not inherently “safe”. No animal is 100% tame and clear-headed; they can be startled, scared, or confused, and terrible accidents can happen. My parents supervised my time with dogs, just as this girl’s parents are supervising her time with these snakes. They explicitly stated that she is NOT, under any circumstances, to be with them without adults present and watching. That’s a lot more than I can say for all the parents who will proudly tell you that: “OUR dog is so sweet-he would NEVER, EVER hurt my child, or anyone! We know we can trust him!” No… you can’t. Don’t ever take for granted that a large, carnivorous animal, divided from its wild ancestors by a relatively narrow span of time, is some harmless stuffed toy. Because the statistics show… that this girl is a lot safer with these pythons (KEYWORDS: under the SUPERVISION of her parents!) than a child left alone with the family’s Labrador. (As an aside… I feel like the term “cold-blooded” is being grossly misused and misunderstood… “Cold-blooded” literally describes an animal that is ectothermic, meaning they must regulate their own body temperature by moving between warmer and cooler places. It does not mean “psychopathic”, despite how the term has come to be used as *a figure of speech*. Reptiles are thinking, reasoning creatures. Whether or not ANY of our pets “love” us, in the sense that we think of the word, is hotly debated in science (though I personally believe that they DO, perhaps minus the complexities and nuances humans tack on to the concept of “love”). Reptiles can ABSOLUTELY recognize and trust individual humans, and behave accordingly. Animals with elaborate social structures and behaviors can actually be MORE unpredictable/difficult to read, precisely BECAUSE of all the mechanics associated with maintaining that social order (hierarchy, dominance, body language, etc.). There are also social reptile species and non-social mammal species. The notion that reptiles are primitive, stupid, and unfeeling is… well… primitive, stupid, and unfeeling. They are no more dangerous than mammals with similar physical ability to harm or kill humans.)

  • Great rules. No unsupervised time with the snakes and no feeding them until she is an adult. They look healthy and happy. Beautiful creatures. Because they are snakes many people assume the worst. Any pet could hurt someone. They look like they have been part of the family for a long time. There is probably a separate place for the two and they are not out roaming 24/7. Like it was stated no unsupervised time. They have raised the snakes. They know their characteristics and how to properly handle and care for them,if not they wouldn't be as they are in the video. Is there a site dedicated to your family? Watching the snakes grow along with your daughter. How to properly take care of them. Do's and don'ts My daughter is 16 and wants to become a snake owner. She has been watching a lot of posts. Trying to learn and decide what kind she would like to get. Thanks for sharing

    • Recommend kingsnakes, milksnakes, cornsnakes, western hognose snakes. Many agree that boas and pythons are boring (nocturnal slow species) and grow to be very large. Also they poop large lol

    • We got my grandson a ball python. I swore there would never be a snake in my house but when it comes to grandchildren it’s a whole new thing. My gs is 11 and his sister just turned 7. She loves that snake and asks all the time to hold him. He has never struck at any of us…ever! They do learn things and they have likes and dislikes. When our boy is in his hide if he hears my voice he pokes his head out like “what’s it going to be today?”. We have lizards but I’d never had a snake so first time for me. Imho a ball python is awesome for a first snake. Good luck!! :)

  • I can tell majority of these people don’t own snakes, to clarify, I have multiple snakes of my own, An eastern Hognose, a southern ringneck, a false water cobra, and a 3 1/2 year old reticulated python, as shown in this video, thae snakes can adapt bonds, infact my false water cobra loves me more than it loves my girlfriend, snakes are not gonna eat the child as the the child is more of an object to that snake than prey, the snake is big yes, but not nearly large enough to eat the child, not to mention, if your pet snake bites you, it’s almost always your fault, yes they are animals, but so are dogs, and cats, infact so much so, if!snakes were at the same ownership ratio as dogs, dogs would still surpass snake fatalities by around 660%, (non venomous) you just have to research before you get a snake, a snake requires much more preparations than dogs or cats.

  • To everyone saying the snakes are going to eat her, stop. These are domesticated animals, probably born in captivity and raised by humans their entire lives. They are not approaching the girl the way they would approach a prey animal. The snakes are relaxed, stretched out, and calmly sniffing her with their tongues. That's not a predatory posture. Reptiles have slow metabolisms, so they don't get hungry nearly as often as mammals do. They also recognize the people who take care of them. Take it from a reptile owner. Snakes aren't monsters. They're just long, scaley dogs.

    • Same applies with Tarantulas. Some people even keep Crocs/Alligators/Caymans as 'pets'! They are even more unpredictable and deadly than either snakes or tarantulas. These people just have to be different - for the sake of it, and extremely weird too The rest of us prefer to not own a pet that could either kill and/or eat you. What is wrong with these people??! Just get a friggin cat or dog fgs. Honestly, they will get more out of a cat or dog every day of the week than they would a snake or spider. Another thing, and this is absolutely crucial. You can tell if a dog or cat is in a bad mood or has the hump with you. You cannot tell if a snake or a spider is in a bad mood. And if the latter two are, it could potentially be the end of you.

    • @@Ashleybaby818 And I don't understand all the people that think they know about snakes. It would not take a second if you're not stupid. Snakes are far more predictable than dogs. I once had a dog that almost ripped my junk off. Why? Because I was carrying groceries. But a snake would give you every warning in the world before it bites. They hiss, coil, get in a striking position, then bite if you did not step away after all of these signs. And the snake in this video was not going to do that. The only exception to this is if you were stupid and did not wash your hands after handling food. But that would be your own fault.
