Ilya Ponomarev - ‘Elites’ in Russia Fight Over Positions, Resources, Wealth, Status and to Survive

2024 ж. 20 Мам.

Ilya Ponomarev is a Russian-Ukrainian politician who was a member of the Russian State Duma from 2007 to 2016. After the 2022 Russian invasion, Ponomarev joined Ukraine's Territorial Defence Forces, and categorically denounced the invasion. While a member of the Russian State Duma, he was the only deputy not to vote in favour of the Russian gay propaganda law and to vote against Russia's annexation of Crimea in March 2014. In 2015, while in the US, Ponomarev was formally charged in Russia with embezzlement, which he called politically motivated. In 2016, he was impeached for not performing his duties, and he went into exile in Ukraine, where he obtained Ukrainian citizenship in 2019. Ilya Ponomarev has endorsed acts of sabotage and arson in Russia and claims to be a spokesman with insurgent Russian forces (National Republican Army) fighting on the side of Ukraine.

  • I have a tremendous amount of respect for Ilya Ponomarev. He has risked & continues risk much for his principles. I believe that, just as with Bill Browder, his continued conflict with Putin's regime puts him in very great danger.

    @lynnfern2116@lynnfern211623 күн бұрын
    • yes, they r in danger from Ru hit-squads or such, but would be less so IF the West showed more intent, force presentation, posturing etc, as well as meaningful firepower to Ukr to make a true dent in RU capacities, which means hitting their military infra INSIDE RU. Ru is very simple as a small total system of tiny group of elites who are in real charge, ie Putin and the handful of ppl he trusts. They only understand simple frameworks of force for force. Very effing simple to figure out and we must present/show force! As many of us said in the run up to the invasion, Russia should not have been allowed to invade, we should have shown force to try to prevent them from invading on any large scale. I am a Biden supporter bigtime, BUT he should NEVER have mentioned the response potentials of the US/West like he did, at all, bcuz he gave impression US would not intervene in any meaningful way, and he implied that the only thing NOT going to happen was US boots on ground, but that if Ru invaded in a large scale way (LIKE THEY DID WHICH SURPRISED SOOO MANY PPL!) then US response might be far more major than anyone imagined, was his tone ,to me. Yet what happened? We did little after the invasion which was massive and comprehensive! [first 2-3 months the West did almost nothing, was possibly not even able to that fast, and Ukr was able, ALONE, to fend off massive russian attacks on Kiev, etc, in one of the most historic defences in the history of war!) ....... First land war in Europe since the horrific WW2. We need to get damn sober and clear about what this threat really is. These are ppl stuck in the past, they have only succeeded as a large country bcuz they were the last colonial enterprise-country, and they are barbaric, and that is a fact. It was seen in common businessmen's behavior in the '90's after the dissolution of USSR, when businessmen would simply murder the parter or associate when in disputes. The only way to deal with a country like RU is by force. No brainer of all time. So i say to you all, time to get clear ,time to sober up in the ways that matter, and tell your gvt rep's that we must rapidly prepare for the various arms of working against this Ru homicidal hyper-aggression, and i think that includes protecting the remaining intact infrastructure of Ukraine, which only in the past few weeks was finally getting really harmed in ways that take 10 years to repair an electricity production plant!! Ru is acting in ways to maim Ukr bcuz it knows it will have a lot of trouble taking the big cities, ie Kiev, Odesa and Kharkiv. Ru wants to make Ukr a failed state so that it is not an example to the Ru population of a free nation that Ru was unable to steal or harm, and a free successful joyful ppl, as opposed to the miserable attitudes that Muscovy has had for over 100 years, plus plus.

    • 6:13 meanwhile, Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation continues to tarnish Ponomarenko's image and exact revenge on him for supporting the Russian Freedom Legion, releasing pseudo-exposing videos about Ponomarenko on their channel. It disgusts me to observe how the West tries to turn Navalny, a nationalist, into a Nelson Mandela, and his wife, who on the day the aid for Ukraine package was approved, wrote on her Instagram, "I'm not in the mood for joy today." The Russian opposition dislikes Ukraine, which is why they also dislike Ponomarev. However, the West fails to recognize this, much like its inability or unwillingness to see through obvious Hamas propaganda.

Contrary to that gentleman I didn't take advantage of Russia to exploit their people and steal their resources like many US and other western "business people " did following the fall of the Soviet Union. When Russia was at their most weak point with a US puppet drunk President, people like Mr Browder went there and made their fortune, the exact same thing they plan to do in Ukraine, leaving the local slavic population worse than at the times of the Soviet Union. Putin ended all that free for all for these kind of Western parasites and since then Mr. BB is butthurt massively. He couldn't care less about the people of Russia or Ukraine. • I equate Ukraine's struggle to the American Revolution. We would not have won the war against England without the help of France. Viva Ukraine! They will win because they are fighting for their country and their freedom !

    • I guess it's difficult to draw conclusions from historical examples. Ukraine has been fighting for its independence multiple times in the 20th century as well as multiple times in the 21st century. Freedom will prevail only if we collectively help to make it so. Slava Ukraini!

    • There is no similarity in between this Muscovite-Ukrainian war and the American revolution. Ukraine is one of the oldest European countries, twice older than Muscovy that actually evolved from some medieval Ukrainian colony.

  • Yes, I definitely like this man, we should be helping his group more so that they may start laying the foundations (again!) for free amd democratic institutions in Russia, If at first you do not succeed, try and try again, afterall, who succeeds if they give up after failing at something multiple times?

An official said , it is their fault too, they should have done themselves something in advance . Just how. And what is that to send 14 year old children to military factories ? So it is visible people in russia dont mean anything to putin to their government. But russia wants its historical lands , why ? If great russia cant help , govern , itself - they need other Lands to rule ? Great 🤦‍♀️ @@nolaserv
