Short tutorial how I mount tires just using hands and simple tools. Also how to stretch tires. Tires are Falken FK452 215/40r16 and wheels are custom made by me. Those are originally e30 stock bottlecaps (14x7") but I rebarreled them so the size is now 16x9,75".

  • I have done tires by hand back in the day I also found that a 15" tire is the easiest tire to do by hand 13" and 14" are hard to press the bead over the lip of the rim also 16" 17" also hard especially if you are trying to run low profile tires but very good video

    • a shitty tire shop will take 10 min. to mount a tire on a rim and aired up should take no more that 2 min with a tire changer machine. Hell i just bared on manually in my living room 4 17" truck tires in under 10 min. add another 3 min per tire and i had them all aired to 38psi.

    • So what's a directional tire? Explain.

      @moileung@moileung4 жыл бұрын
    • Directional tires have a tread pattern that is designed to rotate in one direction. These tires have lateral grooves that form a V shape. Also, a directional tire has an arrow on the sidewall pointing in the direction the tire should travel. This is to help ensure that the tires are mounted and rotated correctly and work as the manufacturer intended.

    • +jeff darnell Yo its fine as long as u put like 30 degrees of camber on that shiz

      @CaptainCocaine@CaptainCocaine8 жыл бұрын
    • +jeff darnell Thats not correct at all. The narrow wheels that everyone uses allows the tires to wiggle a flex a lot, heating the tire and shortening its life and giving sloppier handling. Having a wheel that is approximately an inch wider than the tore sections means that the tire can't wiggle and so it runs cooler and gives noticeably better handling and more stable performance in crosswinds because its not flexing back and forth. If you are racing the you can go with an even wider wheel. This has been well know for many decades but I suspect that OEM car manufacturers put on narrower wheels because they are cheaper. Every penny counts to them. I prefer wider wheels.

    • Charles Avery This person (ie; me), has also enjoyed the look of stretched tires, and did it for many years because you just cant turn down a free drift tire. But, BUT, since I experienced first hand a tire coming off the wheel, resulting in EXTENSIVE damage to my car, well, just take my word for it, its not gonna be worth it. Just for reference sake, the tire that popped of was a 205/40 on 17x8 wheel, so nothing crazy, but still enough to fuck you up!

  • tire mounting by hand is really easy I do it every day most of the ones I do are big rig tires which are way easier but more heavy. and I use a Bead sealer to stretch them which is less dangerous.
