CHAD The Dance Of The Wodaabe 1 4 HD 720p
The Wodaabe clan, are the Nomads of the Sahel regions of CHAD. Once a year, after the rains, the Wodaabe celebrate in the Gerewol Festival, a courtship festival that is often referred to as a young mans beauty contest, where the girls can select the most beautiful young man, for a night of romance, or, a future husband. The young men dress up, adorned with jewellery, headdresses, and full make up, to exaggerate the whiteness of their eyes and teeth, and a dress to enhance their perfect physique and heigh. The Gerewol participants can sing and dance for 3 or more days, and nights, into the early hours of the morning, flirting, and competing, often looking like they're in a strange trance that is mesmerizing to the onlooker. .... These men are so different from what we know here in America👀 And the funny thing is, it seems like in almost every culture… Including birds and animals, the male is the one that is supposed to dress up for the woman🤔😉 As a little girl, I thought the big beautiful peacocks were surely the females strutting their stuff. But ultimately I learned that the colorful peacocks are the males strutting their stuff for the females😊Very cool 😎
You thought a creature with the word "cock" in it was a female?! 😂😂😂😂😂
Nature is very wise-Draws attention to the male in terms of protecting the females particularly when pregnant! 🦅☀️🦅🍃🦬🍃🦌🪶👵🏽👋🏾💚
These are the Biblical Chaldeans
Please don’t compare animals to human beings. God created each creation separately
@@baileypanama It is biology facts. It is not comparing Afrikan handsome men to animals. I found his comment very respectful and interesting because i am an ornithologist and what he said is true about birds. No offense intended. 🙏🖤🖤🖤
These men could all be models. Absolutely beautiful tribe!
Yeah
I always say this. Their cheekbone structure and their physiques are the greatest
Thought this was terrifying at first and super creepy but after a few minutes I was just hypnotized watching them
Thank you for your honesty, and reaction to these amazing people of Chad & their colorful ceremony, it is truly special - I am so happy when people see other cultures for the first time
I just see beauty, beauty & beauty, joy, togetherness, humour, hypnotic rhythms and chanting: magic Wodaabe culture! WOW!
Very unique bone structure of this tribe. Beautiful men.
Agree
That’s the Fulani tribe for you. I’m from Eritrea in east africa, and many of these Fulani I’ve noticed share a similar bone structure and phenotype with us. Maybe they could be VERY distant relatives😆 They also happen to share our love for cattle herding and being pastoralists too!
Love from Tanzania, i am a Masai tribe.hhese people might be the part of lost Maasai tribe!! There's alot of similarities here🤭🤭
No just maasai all Nilotic.
Borana,Oromo,Rendile,Ethiopian similarities
I've always thought these are some of the most beautiful and captivating men on the planet. They are sooo intriguing 🤩💯❤
Proving what is masculine is completely fluid and varies wildly from culture to culture and generation to generation. It is no one thing.
Wow, this had me smiling the whole time! I was mesmerized by their beauty and clothing. I love that these "real" men are chosen by the women. You know their healthy with their beautiful white teeth and clear eyes. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, they are such lovely people, & a joy to be with, especially seeing how beautiful and confident the women are. I made this video for my family & friends, to follow my travels, (from my iPhone), then decided to share, so it's lovely that it made you smile - I had so much fun, and laughter with them, an amazing culture I hope never goes away.
Tooth decay is not common in Africa.
@@WellnesspodcastTV I wonder what the use for their teeth
@@Afrocreolebombshell It a twig from a tree, that they chew and polish their teeth with.
@@WellnesspodcastTV But now they have so much sugar, sodas and candies, that they're having problems ... but these Wodaabe also constantly chew a stick from a particular tree, that cleans their teeth, and acts like dental floss too.
Totally hypnotic! Can't help thinking if 80's Boy George drew inspiration from this tribe.
There's a guy in a hat and I immediatly thought of Boy George!
He couldn't have! These are virile he-men, boy George is effeminate!
@@zahrajames5941 I'm referring to his look.
@@nicksmpsn6546 I know
Wow. I once saw a picture of a man dressed up like this in a National Geographic when I was about 12 yrs old. I had since forgotten that picture until I saw this on KZhead and this is exactly what I saw in the National Geographic magazine all those years ago. I thought the men were beautiful back then and I still do. The only thing that threw me aback was the widening of their eyes….like they were in a trance-like state, however it does make sense why they are widening their eyes so as to showcase them to their possible future wives. This is truly fascinating. Just wow. 🤩👌🏻☺️
At least they are trying to impress their future wives... Imagine being sold by your father to an old man without you having a say...
I remember this!
@@dhdowlad Did you hit the wall 🧱
I did, too. Nice to see these beautiful people again. ❤️
These men are beautiful & so are the women. To think that my ancestors could be from this tribe is just amazing. What a beautiful culture
Amazing - and such a strange cultural shock to Westerners to see men arraying themselves and making suggestive movements. Which, of course, in nature is the way it's done. Look at all the fabulously beautiful birds who dance and sing and build wonderful nests, to win their females.
Amazing? Are you kidding? Go to any western dance club on any weekend and watch the men do precisely the same thing: getting arrayed in their most ostentatious clothing, moving suggestively - all to attract women.
Have a closer look to the Tahitian culture This will really impress you.
Well I guess if we look around the world we're all not that different from each other! singing and dancing to attract the other sex!
@@monizdm That’s funny. But the females of the human species are still more beautiful than the male. In other species, it’s the male who is colorful and tries hard to impress. I guess we’re the only dummies.
@@genxx2724 .... Lol!... Have you given much thought to why bodybuilding is so important to human males, or keeping up with latest trends in haircuts, or clothing styles etc. ... things like owning flashy cars etc.? Human males just do it differently in different cultures. Western cultures are geared more towards consumerism
Talk of "party all night long" and all this to attract the ladies! All the single ladies! All roads are leading here😂😂😂
They’re all so beautiful! It would be difficult to choose just one guy!!
yep. 😂😂🤣🤣
A que te referís.?
ROBERTA....YOU AIN'T LYING.... BUUUT THEY ARE FOR THE NEEDY AND NOT THE GREEDY!!!😳😍😉💘 💘 💘
👀 slow down there
I agree ☝️
This is so beautiful I wish I could experience a moment like this in person❤
I am so enticed this is the way courting should be❤️
These boys are so pretty
They are all really handsome!!! What a beautiful culture.
So hypnotizing! Nothing like we have here in America. I could watch them dance and listen to them sing and jangle jewelry for hours!
One good thing about Technology is that it allows African - Americans to be connected to our Continent and Culture that has been stripped from us for many Decades if not Centuries. A Tribal Culture that is Deep, Uncanny, Mysterious, Rich, and Strong. I believe that every African - American should and must visit the Motherland... Much Love.❤️🖤💯🔥🇦🇪🇦🇫
if you really connect to their culture then your ancestry is Fulani
So true!
@@topnotch676 The Fulani is the most beautiful tribe in Africa IMO..
I totally agree, I so wish that I could bring African-American's to Africa, to show them around and experience these rich cultures, and the warmth they would receive from various tribes here - some may have very little, but they open their homes and welcome you in. It's so beautiful.
The term "African-American" has only been in use since 1988. The so-called "black" American is Indigenous to The Americas and not Africa. (Read 1828 Definition of American).
They could be called as the "Maasai" of the Sahel!!! A so unique subtribe of the Fulani!!! They are the jewels of Niger and Chad!!!
Long ago, I was lucky to travel there to see this beautiful spectacle.
Yes, they're related. The Woodabe, Maasai, Samburu and the Somali.. they're the same people, genetically and culturally, with minor differences here and there.
Except Maasai are part of the Lou Nilotic ethinic group...as I am
Hey I’m from Eritrea and I agree with you, these Fulani look very similar to us. Very tall and slender bodies. More gracile facial features. They also happen to be cattle herders and pastoralists, which is very common in East Africa. Tribes like Dinka, maasai, tutsi, ankole, somali, beja, afar, and many more.
It is all coming back. All the beauty in us humans. Unfathomably amazing.
Amazing footage of such beautiful people
So much beauty. The singing and dance seem like an invocation of sorts. I would love to know more about what is taking place spiritually during this ritual.
Why can't you appreciate.
@@nicolajames5037 I don’t understand your comment.
They came to try get lucky by getting a gal to like them, mostly its for single young men who are ready for marriage..so they are showcasing what they got,( like rolling the eye, showing their white teeth, costume etc)...when a gal like one of the guys, then he's lucky...and as you can see, when a gal gets closer, the guys increase the performance to get chosen😄😄
@@lisalisa-qy1mt The increase of performance is my favorite part. I love how they love, admire and absolutely need their women. I wish the rest of the world's men were as respectful and worked as hard for their future wives and mothers of their children as these Real Men do.
It's a fertility festival. The Wodaabe live in an environment that is very harsh. Their culture values fertility and healthy births over marital status. In the Geerewol festival, young women (even married women who have not yet become pregnant) may select from the young male competitors, and have relations with him in hopes of getting pregnant. Two lineages of the Wodaabe people people participate in the Geerewol, young women often choose men from the other tribe as their partners for the event. This seems a very simple and effective means of keeping their genetic pool richly diversified, and dealing with some fertility issues that married couples might have.
Beautiful culture and that hand clap rhythm will be stuck in my head forever. Just amazing.
The costumes are stunning!! What a gift that we are able to see this.
They remind me of beautiful male birds displaying their plumage to attract a female.
This is stunning, thank you for creating and sharing this video.
you wonder where this started and what made such an impression on people to keep this going all this time
Very interesting! I love how their teeth are white and that the are enjoying the dance.
It must be very hard for the young ladies to ... make a choice, for they are all quite attractive. Although a plaid fedora does draw attention. ;) The images are beautiful, thank you for sharing.
These people are stunningly beautiful!
Ever since I was a child I have loved culture & still I find such beauty here! Amazingly wonderful if people just take the time to realize there is more to life then just what we think or what we think we know! Namaste 👰🙏
We have beautiful culture ❤Africa ❤
Fascinating a beautiful culture. Thanks for posting.
incredible culture, so much respect for womans choice, amazing
Stunningly beautiful men. 💝💝💝💝 I too like good teeth and clear eyes... Its basic health indication 😎

Amazing melody, chanting,costumes.
And they all have such beautiful teeth!
Hard to choose. They are all adorable!
Many decades ago while travelling in The Sahel I caught a bush taxi with a group of these guys.

Remember reading about this years ago in a head book. Fascinating.
Gorgeous young men... It would definitely be hard to choose
How refreshing ☺️
Such beautiful people.
I wonder if they still have strength left for the task at hand so to speak - after 3 days and nights lol. Breathtaking though
They are stunning and beautiful
This is so fascinating!!
Woooow! It's incredible! They are so beautiful, like girls)) And your photography is amazing!! Thank you very much!!
Thank you, I made the videos for my family & friends, to keep up with my travel experiences, so I was reluctant to share at first ... so thank you for enjoying it, as these Wodaabe were so lovely and fun to be with, it's their special life.
Nice photography and video…well done!
Lot of love from India .... beautiful culture
I love the absence of Christian fear of homosexuality construed as something bad going on here. These men get to have a connection most men around the world can't have for fears of looking "gay". That's horrible.
Absolutely beautiful.
fascinating and amazing!
Beautiful culture and people.
So interesting. These men show such beauty.
Wow, fascinating 👍
thank You for the Video........
The Most Beautiful Men i have ever seen, what a hard time their women must have had making a choice.

Whao! Very interesting ❤
I absolutely want to see a reality TV show where each month they go to a different city and makeover a group of single young men and get them to show off with this spirit. Maybe they cooperate with a local club doing a singles-only night.
Awesome stuff
Some of these people were featured on the back cover of a Santana album.
Fantastic 🌏🌏🌏
I love learning about other people's culture....

I'm Curious what they to give them to fall into a trance
Love my continent. ❤
