We've most definitely lost something in the past 35 or so years. We had the best of all worlds during the 50s through the 80's.
Yea and its just heartbreaking that the love of America and the love between its citizens has been taken over by the Democrat liberal haters and cheaters and just plain scum! These are evil people and these are desperate times!
Thankfully so much of the good stuff ended up on tape.
30's and 40's as well, with Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Richard Rogders.

This was my late husbands favourite song and singer.. my husband used to often sing this to me. We were together for 28 years when he died in my arms of a heart-attack. Now there was a man of integrity and ethics. I was blessed to have him in my life.

Perry has always been a favorite from Cannonsberg to Sands Point on Long Island.
I think what is missing in today’s music is the innocence and sincerity of days gone by
Sadly things have changed so much since Como's time. It's all gone sour due to choices people make. One cannot produce sweetness out of sour. Even marriages don't last that long. With the world upside down, and this one gender world we are rushing into, not to mention racial hatreds and compensations , loss of morals, ethic and integrity, plus with zero respect for authority, I think it's time for Jesus to come and take out this evil.

My Mom used to listen to Perry Como every Christmas. Though my parents are both long gone to their reward in heaven, listening to this voice brings me back to my childhood and the joy that his voice brought to my Mom❤️

This is what we call a "masterclass" today. Superb musical talent vocally, and legendary accompanying guitar by a "studio musician". No over-the -top tricks needed, but Chet threw a couple in there and made them fit perfectly. Perry Como or Frank Sinatra - man !...their fans argued who was better for years !
I love the way you put "studio musician" in quotes. I wonder how many people, hearing this, think that Atkins was actually a studio musician. He was one of the best.

A voice from the clouds. A tinkling guitar in answer from a dusty street. All come together to make music so sweet. The electric impulses fizzes and pops in the air. Like magic touches your hair. Lifts it as would an unseen hand. Your heart and senses soar as if shot from a rubber band. Mr.C and Mr A's names are written in time,on your heart and in the desert sand.

In the 1970's I had a terrible crush on Perry Como. I thought he was so handsome and had a marvelous voice. Also loved the fact that he only married once and stayed married to the same woman until she died in 1998. He was devestated by her death. And he never had any scandal attached to his name.

I sang this song for my wife on our wedding day 10-01-2010. Thanks Perry for singing this song for us and this song was the first English song I learned when I started to love singing English songs. RIP Perry Como, your songs will last a life time.

I'm so grateful to have been born when I was and to have grown up with these musical legends. Growing older is not for the faint of heart but listening to this reminds me I wouldn't want to be a part of any other generation. Chet was also the producer for both this song but also the accompanying album of the same name; one of his last productions at RCA. He also produced another successful single for PC (Seattle) slightly earlier.
It's the perfect collaboration of talent. Never over sung or played, just what's best for the song, no egos. Don't make em like this anymore.

I had several Perry Como albums. At Wilson College in 1970-'74 (all women then), I played those vinyl albums and I played Barbra Streisand's Stoney End album( At the Forum). I would face the speakers out my window mid campus, and crank up the volume. Haha. Both brilliant vocalists.

Dear Chet Atkins wonderful guitar player. I am 69, and Dad bought XMAS With Chet Atkins in the 70s, the album. That album was played every XMAS until dad died in 1999. We couldn't play anymore, dad wasn't there. AND, Well Perry Como was so good looking and yes a great singer! Great talents, thanks for clip!
