#90 Copper Chimney, Half a Stairway, Autumn Storms, Chestnuts and Glühwein
The weather is disruptive this week with a mix of storms, heavy rain and autumn sunshine. I'm cutting and hammering stones for the stairway. Ollie and his sister Isabel are visiting for a few days and giving a hand. Johannes invites us for winter meal at his cabin.

Best part of Sundays is when Martin arrives. The music and scenery for me is spiritual 🙏. And Martins new piece of heaven is a joy every episode. What a marvel you’re creating. We all appreciate this experience you work so hard to share with us. God bless and stay healthy 🇨🇦
Totally agree ;-)
Couldn’t agree more and that’s coming from another Martin lol
I agree completely. I have never reset my week on Sunday mornings until now.
So true!
Somebody needs a new hobby...
The funnest moment was the chicken looking in the window!
they watch over him as well as he does them...
Adorable moment.
Zo nieuwsgierig!! 😉
I nearly spit my dinner out laughing so hard at that

The stairway is an absolute work of art. What a privilege to be able to watch this process!
It is ….. it is BEAUTIFUL
Yes , "work of art"!
Half finished only half to go. Sooooo much chipping!
Stunning!❤
The stone work on the stove is stunning, as are the stairs❤
We are all on the same page every Sunday Martijn brings people from all over the world together here on this channel sharing the same thoughts. No matter how the week went but on Sunday here we are. All happy and relaxed.
See you🇳🇴
❤ soo true!!! Grazie Martino IL tuo lavoro e bello , ciao a tutti 🤗❤❤❤
🇨🇦 very true. Very different construction from here. I am in construction, so the build has been very interesting to me.
@@ronteljeur He goes into extreme details too
Thank you for always including the chickens in your videos, Martijn!
And Red peering in the small window! Whither Martijn?
@@sawseen2798 Yes, I loved that little detail too.
...that was funny, I thought if that window had been open she would go inside:)@@sawseen2798
The chicken peering in the window was priceless. You don't need a dog or cat when you have your chickens!!😊
😁🤣?? Whats's going on with chickens ??
Thank you Martijn for all your weekly shares. I am also a fan of your chickens, they make me laugh every time. When they are taking sand baths for example...or following you wherever you go. Their tea-time talk chattering. Their joyful cackling when you arrive to the coop for feeding them. Or today: the red chicken looking through the little window to watch you inside the house. Just cuteness and beauty overload! 😃
Yes! And i was happy to see all 3 of them :))
It gets harder to find the right words. Awesome storytelling and photography. November, typically, is a month of cold rain and sleet. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey. Good to see Johannes. Get some rest, Martijn.
Those chickens really do love you, Martijn!! So adorable, peering in to inquire of your whereabouts LOL
Yes! Where is dad?
I think the chickens may think he is building them a new fancy hen house..😉🤭
Wonder if the chicken can even see into a window, the way their vision is I mean! Curious hens.
😅
The Return of Ollie! Good to see Martijn with his best helper back in the fold.
I had hopes you would not see snow for another week or maybe even 2. You are so close to being inside before Winter truly arrives. I sincerely appreciate that you share your story with the world. I am ashamed of the gluttonous life I have led. I desire nothing more than pure food, great friends, chickens and a view. You are truly the King of the World. Cheers.
This channel is exactly how the KZhead algorithm should be used by content uploaders. Always absolutely beautiful to watch every episode, and knowing that every time I hit that like button I'm contributing to helping someone achieve their dream. Hats off to you Martijn. You're doing a great job in more ways than one.
Richard, I’m pretty sure that watching all the ads (I turn down the volume and wander elsewhere) and watch it through to the end gives home a little bit of money, too.
@@boa1793 true. ads help to get some money in especially if you don't run product placements which Martijn rarely does. the worst viewers can do is start a video, watch a bit, then quit. the algorithm presumes the content is trash and will stop spreading, i.e. suggesting it to other like-minded viewers.
@@boa1793Martijn doesn't get any profit out of the ads. Google does. I have a paid Premium account. That way I doesn't get bothered by ads. And I need to have the account for my own channel. That too. :-))
@@7pdude I didn't know that, about the algorithm. I do watch Martijns ad breaks because its all I can do to help his channel. That and reminding people to press the 'like' button, which so many people forget to do. He gets so many views but very few people remember to press the button.
@@pegsbarton6353 in the end, it all boils down to max view time. youtube wants the users to stay as long as possible and to watch as many videos as possible because that brings in the most ads views which are nothing but revenue for youtube. so the algorithm is designed and constantly improved to learn what type of content each users likes best and then find videos with the same / similar content to suggest to the specific user. as a creator you can make sure that the title, hashtags and thumbnail represent what your video is about. don't try to cheat (e.g. title and actual content are not related) since there's a high chance viewers might be disappointed after watching a few minutes and leave. the algorithm then learns viewer expected to see xyz according to title / tags but only watched a small section so chances are the video had no value to the user. whenever the user likes / shares / comments / subscribes and watches the entire video the algorithm learns that it must be high quality content that should be suggested to like-minded users with the same interests.
These videos are an absolute pleasure to watch. No background music just the natural sound of what is happening. and especially not a single high five, yee haw, woo hoos or any other nonsense of that sort. I love it.
The background music is so well done, most of the time you don't even notice it when it is playing. Try reading while you just listen to the video. You'll hear the music more.
The music is subtle, but moving and profound... I used to use similar music to give people massage for healing both the body and soul. @@forthrightnight
@@forthrightnight This one was actually quite Beethoveny. Hints of Egmont when he opened the tent to reveal the slush outside.
No yee haw or woo hoo = no Americans. Always refreshing.
@@ronm3245 Bless them, often very nice hospitable and generous people if one may generalize. It's just the extra enthusiasm isn't always needed.
I love the contrast of the grass and copper chimney against the stone, looks super.
Me too. Was wondering about a coating on the copper to lock in the colour but then liked the patina on the downpipes from the gutter...
Yeah!Thats what the gypsies think in their pick up truck when they pass from the top!:5$/kilo!I think it would be better to cover it somehow with stone. It wont stay up there for long as it is..gypsies will do the math.100x5$=500$ in their pocket.
@@astikessymvaseis8858 you're a bit racist, aren't you.
@@astikessymvaseis8858I think if I heard him correctly Martijn mentioned in last weeks video that he was going to brick round the chimney.
It's all good, but I loved the chicken looking in the little window!
Even with all of the complications and blessings, this entire project you've shared with us is just beautiful. I thank you for bringing us along this journey with you.
Ahhhh Chestnuts and Gluhwein reminds me of family christmas, chilly days and snow. So nice to see Johannes and all of you around his kitchen table. I imagine alot of good conversations!!!.
I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning than with a new Martijn video! Thanks Martijn! 😄
And a hot cup of coffee!

Breathtaking!
Thank you for providing some peace in our lives Martijn. Congratulations on your accomplishments. Your posts are a pleasure to watch.
The house of Johannes looks so cozy. I like it very much.
I would love to see Johannes celebrating Mass in his Chapel.
The camera shot at night with the moon shining through the clouds was beautiful. It may sound weird but living in Australia where it's flat the clouds are high, but the clouds look low being high on the mountains there. Just beautiful.
I thought the same thing, how beautiful with the clouds, lights from kitchen and tent. I saw what I think was a planet, wondered if it was Jupiter?
@martijn you should sell these kind of photos :-)
It was spectacular !
Looks quite familiar to me up here in our part of Australia in the Blue Mountains, yet so very different. You’re so right about the clouds, though we call them ‘fog’. 👍
I laughed a lot when the hen checked on your work through the window "goodgoodgood"..."nononono" (he forgot the perch)😂
I so admire Martjin’s determination. All the rain would have had me in the tent sitting in front of the fire with a book!
Not if your scene included winter soon and your heat is not finished to stay warm. 😂
Me as well, Gail. I abhor getting wet so I'm a fair weather worker if we are outdoors.
I love how your chickens a re calling you to let them out of their coop. Animals are really fantastic. Also I have to say I love the way you are telling us your story, it has an archaic kind of telling stories. Have a great week and please keep save.
Oh Martijn, those stairs are coming out beautiful. I can't wait until you can be warm and cozy with a nice fire in the cabin.
Remarkable how close you are now to THE major milestone in your renovations, keep up the good work. Thank you for the relaxation every Sunday, it always makes me feel good
I love seeing what bits get completed each week, and I adore seeing the chickens 😊. It’s so cute the way they look for you. When that one chicken was looking through the window when you were working on the stairs, that was so sweet ❤. Take care and stay dry!
Martijin deserves an Oscar for this series. Script, direction, camera work, everything is perfect.
72 people first second its up. This is the best series mon you tube
Your night scenes are so magical. I look 👀 forward to Sunday’s to see how much you have progressed. Can’t wait to see you move in. Doing a fantastic job.
Morning , Martijn, your chickens really love you, they must know where you are at any time, so one was looking through the window and when she find you , she was satisfied,so cute !! Great work this week, the stairs will look beautiful, and the copper chimney is amazing 👍🏼👍🏼🤩🤩🙋♀️🇨🇱
I think when Martijn lights the fire for the first time, we will all be celebrating. It will mark a huge milestone and turning point. A fire makes a house a home.
Your craftsmanship is amazing. It’s truly going to be spectacular when you finish these houses.
What craftsmanship? Its been two years in the tent already!!Its because he doesn't know and waits from other people to help that he is going to have a house one day!!A pro would have finish in two months max!

The stairs are beautiful! Every shot around your cabin with the trees in the background is magnificent, such a gorgeous time of the year.
This stove and staircase is a work of art, some of your best rock laying to date.
I so admire you and your talents you share with us. Thank you for that. I really appreciate that you don't put music in your videos, I love just hearing the rain, or your footsteps, or the chickens, it's so peaceful to me. It was especially cute when the chicken was watching you through the window. They are used to being with you when they're out of their pen. This home is absolutely stunning, and I love watching as you progress. Hope you have a great day, you've made mine a good one, as always.

Yes! I am a farm woman, 85 years old, and miss chickens so much. Love to hear them "talk". Thank You! Love all the rest, too!
And the chickens squawk loudly, “Wake up Martijn and let us out of here!” Priceless!!
My Sunday is now complete!

Thank you Martijn! Seeing the seasons change is beautiful, it looks like you will close to ready by the time winter sets in. It's great to see the chickens again, that one peering in through the window was adorable. Be well!
The chickens have been a great addition to the homestead. They follow Martin around like puppies. They know the routine, and once Martin let's them out in the morning, they head straight for the kitchen. There that clever to know were to get some easy food 😂. The chicken look in the window for Martic was brilliant. Also, am I the only one who can not wait for Martin to light the stove.
J'ai hâte aussi. Je me posais beaucoup de questions sur le devenir des panneaux en carton. Et il nous a bien informé. 😂😊
I always watch your videos on your Italian property; I think this one with the night view is one of the most beautiful one I've seen yet, Thank you for that.
I’m 70 and this interestingly is part of what inspires me to keep persevering as I work on our 4 acres in west central Florida.
I've never known such vocal hens. Mine only do alarm calls and egg laid calls. Lovely to hear them. Martin should speak more to them.😊
Yes, I love the sound of them talking! I hope Martin will soon provide heat and protection when the severe snow, ice and bitter cold arrive. I don't know how he does it all.
@@LancashirelassCan. the chickens huddled together for warmth but only being 3 the middle one will be the luckiest. I put a layer of straw down so they can huddle down in that. I also make paths with sawdust so they can get out for a little while.

The night skies, the city lights, the autumn leaves, the mountain views are all amazing. And the cabin is beautiful. But what makes me smile every week are those chickens. 😊
First! ? 🙂 Like the gutters, the copper chimney is so gorgeous, unspeakably beautiful against the stone! Like the weather over the village in the valley, it's heart-stopping. Lovely to see the excellent Ollie back at the homestead. SOOOO looking forward to seeing the masonry stove fired up! This cabin is truly a jewel-box.
I remember the first episodes of you buying the place and meeting the religious neighbor
Unbelievable how much work you put into rebuilding and restoring your place! You are admirable and Super!
20:15 this moment here really shows me how much care and attention you've put into your cottage, how tidy you've made it that even the pile of rocks look like they're not just thrown about, the grass, the organised chopped wood, the guttering, the pavement, the roof of lose! I've watched over 80 of these 97 videos and I will keep watching. It makes me feel like small permanent improvements in my own house can help me crawl out of anxiety and depression. There will always be things to do, but by continuing to do the activities where the reward of their efforts last for years it can seem like the mountain is just that little bit smaller.
That transition from the tent to the house is sure going to be nice. No more flapping in the wind when you are trying to get to sleep, a heat source that will maybe burn all night without getting up to fill it. You`re getting closer!!!
Masterfully done. The original builders and occupants would be so happy to see what you’ve done to it. Many generations will be blessed by what you’re doing Martin..
Your chickens are really quite talkative! They are a marvelous addition to your saga. Thanks again for a lovely Sunday visit with you and your friends.
I’m In the Pyrenees mountains Spain and snow is also beginning to fall. It’s gotten colder. The cows will be indoors soon for the winter and I hope you have a warm place for the chickens. Living in the mountains we are never certain of the weather conditions so keeping the animals safe and warm is always a paramount concern. Luv your videos. 👍🤗😘
The last mile, and you will be inside the house, nice and warm!! Carry on this week!!

Dumb question, Martijn, will the chickens be warm enough in their coop when the weather gets really cold? They certainly were raising a ruckus that one morning! They are so attached to you; never far away from the outdoor kitchen when you're there! Don't know what I like best, the sound of the chickens or the sound of the rain!
