Real helpful! Looking forward to giving this technique a try. Looks much easier than lifting by the flank.

Or you can gently turn their head towards the tail as you did and place your other hand on their tail and roll into your body. I’ve never had to grab a leg and they usually roll into pretty gently

Also no need to lift the body weight. I don’t know if poll Marino’s are just more docile and that makes it easier. I learnt everything I know from my grandpa who farmed them for 74 years so maybe different times too

You try that technique on a Dorset ram 🐑 it might be easy on a quiet little lamb.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I actually can flip a Dorset ram using this method over any other technique. I've sheared sheep for years, second generation shearer, and that is the same way that my parents did it to save on their backs, and it works well for myself and everyone that I have taught this to. But I do agree, how we do things in Canada is very different from Australia and New Zealand.

Your so wrong Watch us aussie's do it we are the best in the world at it. And when shearing you don't rest the sheep straight on its spin the sheep will kick they are more comfy resting on there hip make a video of you shearing 100 sheep a day 5 days a weeks 52 weeks of the year your technique wont hold up lol. You yanks should be copying us Aussie's.

If you're an expert why are you watching videos aimed at beginners? If an inflated ego helped shear sheep then you would be a pro

Masterbanjoawesomepickingninjadude your assuming I’m a beginner because I’m watching a beginner video ? Only idiots assume.

Masterbanjoawesomepickingninjadude and mate, ego has nothing to do with it. There’s a right way and a wrong way to do things.

Masterbanjoawesomepickingninjadude if you had any idea champ, you wouldn’t be commenting. And simply out of interest I landed on this video, and chose to watch. To assume I’m a novice shearer would be incorrect. Go watch some competition shearing videos and see if I’m wrong.

@@jimjohnston4181 Learn to read. I asked why you are on a video for beginners if you are such an expert? Never said you are a beginner. I hope you flip sheep better than you can understand basic sentences. You say this technique is wrong, but if it works then why is it wrong? For small scale livestock owners this technique is more than suitable. I agree with you about resting the sheep on the hip not the spine, but you come across as seriously arrogant, and if I'm being honest, a bit insecure judging by how vehemently you are trying to convince me you know more than anyone else. I don't doubt you have experience, but most people are open to alternate ideas for alternate situations. If this video helps beginners then why bother coming on and flashing your cock about?
