It's sad that in the beginning, almost every iPhone had a new design, and now the last 4 generations look almost the same

I don’t think it’s sad. It’s a strategic move that companies make to allow for things like more time to develop a refreshed design or completely new one, a more streamlined and less wasteful process, etc. I can see where you are coming from though.

I’ve had an iPhone 4s for exactly a decade when it was newly released and up until 2021 and let me tell you it held on.. even tho I had to change original battery at some point, but it served me well. Now I have an iphone SE 2020
I respect your dedication to keeping this up to date. While the iPhone 14 standard model is basically the iPhone 13S/X/c/whatever, the 14 Pro looks amazing and I do like how they have taken the notch needed for FaceID and turned it into the dynamic island. That is some clever use of a cutout and I can't wait to see this trickle down over the years to the price point I can afford

So many great memories with many of these iPhones! They went the distance for me. The best of the best were the 4, 4s, 6s, SE 1, and SE 2. SE 2 is my currently daily but all of them but the 4 I still use in some capacity to this day.

Its also a matter of what could they even change it to? These days people want as much of their phone to be useful, so its always a race to get the highest screen %. The best they can do is shave off some bezels here and there.

@@twhylerm Well, there's obviously going to be spec bumps each generation, for example A15 -> A16 and 12MP Main Camera -> 48MP, so not making another phone will leave them a generation behind the competition.

Bezels are too big still, especially considering Apple's new darker backgrounds with iOS 16. The Earth theme just screams at the big bezels when using the menu. But i understand Apple is probably waiting for 10 more years, until the structural rigidity for materials is strong enough to give almost bezel-less design
Had the 4s, 5, 6s plus, 7, XR, 11 pro, 12, and finally 13 mini. Overall favorite is the 13 mini and I plan to hang onto it as long as possible. I do miss the rounded design though.

My dad was still using my old 5C up until last year. When he brought it in to upgrade the kid working didn’t know what it was and couldn’t believe it was still working and he was still able to use it.

The 13 mini is my favorite since the original SE. I’m a huge fan of smaller phones, I had a 7 Plus and an 11 between my original SE and 13 mini and while they were great, I was always missing my small phones. So upset they didn’t do a 14 mini, maybe they’ll bring it back at some point but for now I’ll be using my 13 Mini until I can’t anymore like I did with my SE.
So sad there isnt a 14 mini because the 13 mini’s sales weren’t high 😢

I finally got my iPhone 14 pro max and I am so excited! I had the the iPhone 12 Pro Max so it’s definitely a huge difference in the screen display. And as far as playing games on the phone that require a lot of memory this phone is by far the best at it! 🖤

At first the iPhone was a revolutionary product, basically the same thing whit less or more storage, that was the main difference just like iPods. Now 15 years and 37 phones later you have 4 different models of one single generation (the one that fits on your palm, the one that makes your hand looks big, and two ridiculously big that can’t handle in one single hand), with 3 different storage possibilities. That’s a huge marketing success, and the next year they make you wish the new model despite its the same thing that you already own from the prev year
If you look it trough carefully you will notice the differences, and it does fit in one hand although it’s slow to use it that way

I bought my current iPhone (the XR) right when it came out in 2018. Still working perfectly except the battery is shot which isn’t surprising after 4 continuous years of use. I’m quite impressed with how well it’s held up. Anyone else?
I just switched to the 14 pro max from the XR. It's going to someone else in the family and I'm going to miss it. The XR is still pretty amazing. Dropped it 3 times from waist height on hard surface and still works fine but all were indoors. XR is probably one of the most durable smartphones out there. Battery is still at 82% and I've had it since start of 2019.

Honestly, I would have liked to see them maintain the notch design only to jump directly to an under-display camera once the tech got good enough for Apple. I personally don't like hole punch cameras but am excited to see the dynamic island and hope it would make the hole punch less visible.

And the 5.4-inch screen isn’t small at all. I’ve also got the iPad mini 6 256GB to go along with it and I couldn’t be more happy about this combination 😍

My very 1st iPhone was 5c in blue. It was a good one for a little bit over 3 years that I upgraded towards iPhone 8 in silver. I still have it as backup towards my SE 2 in white. Just in case something went wrong on the SE. My next iPhone will be iPhone 14 in purple. If the place ran out of that color that I will get the blue one.

Hello. I’m new here. And my history with iPhones have been a hit or miss, but I still like the brand. My sister and I shared an iPhone 4s. My first real iPhone was the 6s, following with the 8, then with the Xs, and now the 13.
My first iPhone was the 6s back in mid May of 2018. Until mid May of 2018, it was the iPhone 8 Plus. I still have both phones. I have my 6s for nostalgic reasons and for very sporadic uses. I still use my 8 Plus but I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 since early January of this year. Unfortunately, I won't be able to upgrade but I will stick with these devices.
The 2022 Realme GT Neo 3 straight from China $400 with latest Android 14 firmware and regular security updates. That's not all 😂 charges from 1% to 100% in under 50 min (overshot) with its 150w charging speed (not a fire hazard) 😭 Android forever 👑

Had an iPhone 6 for 5 years and got an 8+ at the beginning of the month as a hand me down phone, i dont rly care much about upgrading as long as you really take care of it just goes to show how long an item lasts.
The very first iPhone I had was the iPhone 8, and I was very happy, it did glitch many times with the button for home not being able to be pressed, then I now have the iPhone XR, where I don’t even need a button!!

I got an iPhone 6s in 2019. My phone died a few months back. The battery was the only issue. Other than that, it served all my purposes.

I have some thing about it: Apple really skimped on iPhone's anniversary this time around. Sure, iPhone 14 is basically Pro value in a vanilla bodies, with the Plus being the bigger one for good measure from there on out, while the Pro finally ditched the notch in favor of the cutout that Apple call the Dynamic Island! And all surprisingly refined and extended at that too (14 has 13 Pro as their power because A15 Bionic now has 5-core GPU; 14 Pro gets 48MP main camera; etc.)! But look at the names itself (not the Plus though, because that's to avoid confusion with the Pro Max which is the same size): iPhone 14, not 15! This year (2022) is iPhone's 15th anniversary (the original iPhone released in 2007). And here we are, seeing the releases of iPhone 14 in the "Far Out" event, dedicated to iPhone, Apple Watch (8, 2nd SE, Ultra) and AirPods (second-gen Pro). This was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the anniversary like iPhone 5 (first widescreen iPhone) and iPhone X (first full-screen iPhone, pronounced as 10 though), and yet Apple choose 14 as the number for this, relegating 15 one year late (2023 will see iPhone 15 and 15 Pro then, duh) when it's literally another milestone! And all of this without any explanation from Apple whatsoever! I've watched the whole event, and I only heard and seen the number 14 in its natural presentation, as if it's just another generational branding in this case. Whatever it is, Apple never explained why they decided to go with number 14 when it's time for the number 15. Why did Apple do that? I can't think of any anniversary acknowledgement from Apple this time around, other than the aforementioned Dynamic Island (on 14 Pro) and the return of the clownfish wallpaper (from OG in 2007) in iOS 16.
