    • You can hear the door make contact with the stopper but clearly it didn't stop, also when Riggs leaves the door is set closed. So that and the fact that most of the "Iconic moments" of movies often are accidents. I wouldn't be surprised it the door swinging past the jamb was unscripted but like you said, represents the helpless frustration of Murtaugh.

    • I went to a house it was for sale I’m an oil heat tech needed a sign off they sent me Halfway through I could tell something was wrong Not with the house but the owner His wife and child died in a car accident and he had lost everything I talked with him for about an hour We cried together I made absolutely sure everything I did was beyond questionable When I got back to the office I told them, we are not charging this man He’s been through enough and I respectfully refuse to turn in paperwork My boss said, that sounds fair, no charge

  • This has to be one of Mel Gibson's finest performances. He has this character down to a T in this scene for being a victim as we find out later of post traumatic stress disorder due to his wife being killed when he as we find out was the intended target. The look in the eyes when Danny Glover has given him the gun says it all.

  • I know it’s an action comedy, but the original movie (and some of the sequels to a lesser extent) really drew on the theme of trauma-induced mental health issues amongst cops. And this was also at a time when nobody was really talking about that. My older brother has been a cop for close to 35 years now, so I really appreciate that the film didn’t handle these issues in an exploitative or dismissive way.
