The wildest part about this for me, gymnastics nerd, is that there was a gymnast named Kim Kelly who did a routine that was, well, infamously awful. And so when I saw Jim Jelly in the title I thought it was an inexplicably and impressively deep cut.
I tried looking into her out of curiosity but I couldn't find much information. What made her awful? All I found about her is that is seems like, besides a history of injuries, at one point she qualified for the olympics but was then not chosen to participate.

I think the reason we all like monster factory is just because it's reminiscent of having a friend over and goofing off on a game you have. It's not the monster they create, but the goofs and friendly feelings it gives us.

jIM has a very sort of fatalist approach this whole gymnastery thing. Not a lot of agency displayed in his technique, he kind of keeps his limbs out and primed for gymnastics to just happen on them
I'd say his approach is more one of organized chaos, having no expectations, yet being prepared for anything that can happen
