If you haven't hit the BELL next to the subscribe button could you please do so? If you could pick between these cameras, which one would you pick and why?
I chose the a7III because of the price and performance. Grabbed two Zeiss primes, 25mm and 85mm, because I don't go cheap on lenses. This trio covers 99.9% of anything I want to shoot.
If I HAD to switch to Sony I guess I'd get the A7III. It's certainly the best bang for the buck with the A9 focus system and the great high ISO performance. Still, I would miss my 500 f/4 if I made the switch. They (Sony) also don't have anything that can match my Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6. Especially for the price of that lens. What we need is 100% functional Nikon lens to Sony body adaptor or, even better, a Nikon mirrorless full frame that's as good as these Sony's with an adaptor INCLUDED in the box and ready for a sniff test.
Yep, a fast prime super-tele is a huge gaping hole in the lens line-up. It's the missing 0.1% of my setup, and the one slated for release will be out of my financial reach.
Why should I click the BELL? I scan my Subscriptions every day or so for new videos.
Jared Polin Fro!! I bout your DSLR video guide like 3 years ago. I JUST started watching it. And my man, I’m SO glad I invested those years ago. Your bonus content on KZhead was worth price of entry. Thank you Jared 🙏🏼 I’ve got your other guides to, and revisiting your content reminds me that YOU are my photography teacher.
The best camera is the one you don't have!
thats exactly how i feel after watching this video
You have that quote backwards
The best camera is the one I can't afford!
Haha
@lostintimeline who carries a smartphone in this day and age. We're all walking around with Canon 1Dxii hanging around our neck
When I was growing up, my father and I had a deep bond over our love for photography and geeking out about cameras. Whenever I would return home after having flown the nest he would show me all the cameras, lenses and accessories he had bought (usually on eBay) that he'd fixed up and planned to one day sell. He would always reference your videos and would often say, with great joy and all sorts of hand gestures that so-and-so camera or lens was favoured by "Fro Knows Photos". He died two years ago and I have since inherited all of his cameras - mainly DSLRS and a few vintage film cameras. I've been shooting with his Nikon d800 a lot since then but just somehow just today stumbled across the A7III as a means to capture some better video for my channel. In my search for information on the camera, I found your channel again. When you said 'Fro Knows Photos" at the beginning of this video I was instantly taken back to many happy memories of my father and it brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. He was so fond of your channel Jared and not only has this video helped me decide that I am going to make the move to mirrorless but in a totally unplanned move you've made me feel very close to my father whom I miss very much. Thank you ♥
That is truly touching. I am not Jared polin but i am sure your dad is in heaven taking pics of the landscape over there
I’ma tell my kids that this was Bob Ross
Haha
Hahaha!! Yes!
It’s official after so many reviews of this camera I’m going after the A7iii 🤙🏼
Same! I cannot buy the 7RIII hahaha
Sold A7iii (had to sell combo with batis 85/1.8), now going for A7Riii. Still have Ziess 24/1.8 to go with my new riii
Best value at full price. I paid the same for both. Of course it was a year later for the A7RIII, after the A7RIV came out.
I prefer my a7riii because as a wildlife photographer I like to be able to crop a lot without loosing too much quality !
A7Riii = landscape and/or large prints. A7iii = literally everything including video, minus massive prints. A9 = sports. /thread.
Ben, you can get massive prints with an a7 III. I've gotten massive prints from D2h which is 4 megapixels. Basically all will make massive prints if shot properly. We have an a9 file 40x60 on the wall right now as we speak.
Jared Polin Pro Tip: 42mp is still more resolution than 24mp.
Jared Polin I was hoping to see a response regarding "large prints" couldn't have said it better myself lol
As someone who currently shoots with the Nikon D850, I can say that 40+ mp is overkill most of the time. The best use I have for it is having the freedom to crop in on wildlife or sports subjects that have been shot at extreme zooms. It gives you more reach in a pinch. But it also is much more sensitive to camera movements, and even with good stabilized lenses I have to crank up the shutter speed more than I'm used to. So I'm leaning more towards the A7iii as a replacement for my 24mp D750, and then only because I need something that will shoot better video.
And what is ¨Large prints¨ ? i'm thinking of going to the a7iii from my a7rii, is 50x70 a big print? thats what my largest print are. Are they still going to look good with 24mp?
Purchased the A7III based on price and the want of going full frame. Features were a HUGE bonus for me. 👊🏻
No matter how long the video has, Jared always gives me clarity and relevant information. THANK YOU. From Argentina
This was a great run down the line of the Sony full frame cameras Jared. Thank you for doing this and keeping it objective. I particularly enjoyed your real world reviews of the Sony a9 and a7R III.
Love your detailed videos man! Can't get enough of them!
I got the A7III on Christmas 2018... FREAKEN AMAZIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I can always count on you for these really useful comparisons, Thank You!
I really like the side by side spec comparison that you provide in your videos. Excellent job.
The wind tunnel test was the best and most important part of the video.
I'd definitely go with the a7III for my shooting purposes. I do a lot of night shooting and could benefit from that ISO capability. Thanks for the review Jared!
Thanks for the awesome and informative video! I just wish there was an overall check list at the end that shows all the info you just gave us in one visual. It would show off all the pros and cons to each camera without having to re-watch the video multiple times..
Thank you sir. Saved a lot of time to browse through other videos out there.
Very helpful comparative review and informative! Thank you so much Jared!
What a great and detailed break down. Very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you Jared for making this great one ❤
Great work as always. Super informative
Thank you so much for this review
ive been using the a7riii for pretty much anything since i got it. Events, baseball games, portraits. It just kills it every time and still really clean at 12800 iso
really? thats good
How’s taking videos on it?
would you please tell me about ISO performance and if there is noise also how about the large files is it easy to edit
@@Awkventurer for video go a7iii
what about concert? it's good ios? then what about lens?
Yeah Fro you are the man :) great review as usual
@jaredpolin hey Jared. Thanks for all the great content as I have been watching your videos for some time now. I recently purchased another of your guides. Although I am an Nikon user I still watch these videos to keep an eye on options available
Thank you for all your tips and information I’m new to your channel been catching up on your videos you take time to really explain helps make the right decision. I’ve always been an I ha always been a Nikon guy but really enjoying those Sony so I think I’m gonna make the move thank you again for all your help sending positive energy🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼🎥
This was soooo helpful Jared! Thanks. Im going wit A7iii upgrading. To full frame on budget.
Thanks for a great review ! just about made up my mind for the A7r3. I shoot at comic-cons exclusively. sharpness is a critical factor for me.I need to find out more about the flash system, but this review was incredibly helpful
great video. i just got the a7III due to its all round capabilities. having great video and photo capabilities in one package is a winner for me. it eliminates the need for an A7SII for video and an A7RII for photo.
Props to u 👍🙏🏻👏thanks for doing this great comparison. Was wondering between Iii and riii is there a time limit shooting video?
everything I wanted to know in one vid! amazing as always, where the hell was the sniff test?
Thanks for the great comparison, Jared ! Thinking of upgrading from my 3.5 year old Sony A7II and looking at A7III and A7RIII, mainly as a travel camera and for landscapes, night street photography.
Great video, just what I was looking for
proud owner of an a7r3 here
This video is gonna be fire!,! I’m hyped
I reaaaaally appreciate the informaations u really helped me thanks a lot
Awesome review/comparison. Thanks!
job well done here for the review.....jared your a great help as always in helping us to decide which camera to buy. salamat from the philippines!
This was very helpful thankful
Great rundown. I’m picking up an a7iii soon. Very excited to give it a run around the parks of Chicago.
As always............another informative session. Keep it up..........
All good stuff Jared, I noticed when looking further into these cameras that the a7 iii for instance has a maximum aperture of 3.5 is this the same through all the models ?
Just ordered the sony A7M3 , after a long time with Canon, i try something new , thanks for the rev :)
Just ordered mine thanks Jared!!
I've just picked up the A7R III today and took it out for a test spin. The main selling point for me is the 42 megapixel sensor with no aa filter, the pixel shift and the price point.
I have been thinking of getting the a7iii for a while and this video has just convinced me to get it 😁
Great information Jered thank you. I am looking to get the A7iii for my wife as she is a beginner. Thank you
Fanfriggintastic video, as always!! I chose the Riii to compliment my Rii. Love the resolution!! I also love the extra quick settings feature on the dial. Most used feature on my Rii and having one more is going to make getting an important shot much easier when having to switch to a custom set up 💪🏽😍😭📸
Thanks bro... I will definitely go with A7iii
Awesome review Jared. Thanks.
Thank you always great one
Amazing review! Many thanks! I’m going with the iii for two reasons: price and low ISO.
Jared, love your videos! Very useful information. I watched another video of a guy saying sensor dust is a major issue on the a7iv, and claimed he had to clean the sensor before every shoot. Is this true? What insight can you provide on this?
Super helpful - - thank you so much!!!
Thanks Jared, very fair. I switched from Canon (after 40 years) and went to Sony in January 2017 and have never looked back. No camera system is perfect. I find my A7RIII (upgraded from A7RII) and my A7III perform splendidly for both my professional and personal use. Adding an A9 would be super. And don't forget the great IBIS and great Eye-AF of each. Cheers
Great review. Covered all the points of interest and related them to specific photographic needs/situations. Excellent unbiased comparisons to other manufactures as well. So now I'm totally confused. As an old timer, we learned to always by the latest and greatest in technology because it's going to be outdated as you walk out the door. Presently I'm a Canon guy but have no allegiance to the product both emotionally and economically. As of this date I'm waiting to see if Canon will come out with something that blows any of these Sonys away. It's clear Nikon has failed completely with the introduction of the Z mirror-less cameras. Thanks FRO BRO!
You forgot the sniff test!! I would go for the Sony A7III for every reason.
Very good review...details for what I need. Thank you.
Thanks for the review. A7iii. I have been trying to make up my mind for a while now. Now I know it’s is the A7iii for the low light capabilities
Finally i found good Chanel, which can show me clear difference between the cameras... Thank you so much And sorry for bad english
Love your videos, keep up the great work! Proud R owner.
Dude your reviews are the best.
Thanks great video, what shampoo are you using :)
Great video it helped me to decide which camera i am getting. As a landscape photographer a7Riii seems best options and is perfect cause I print most of my pictures, plus I do not shut in low light environment so limitations ISO does not affect me. Again, great video everything well explained
Went for the A7iii I've been happy with the built quality and overall ease of use. Now to upgrade to a better lense preferably the Sony 24-105mm.
Beautifully explained !!
A7III owner and I love it! A7IV and A9II are out now and I’m not jumping to upgrade anytime soon
I got the A7RIII with 24-70 GM lens, took it to a trip to Japan and wow, I couldn't be more happier with my results.
amazing review. Thanks
This is very useful! Thank you
I love your channel, can you make a review a7iii vs A7sii? Cheers
Went with the a7iii and do not regret it. I just have to adjust the brightness of the screen to reflect the way it captures the images (have been a bit dark on some, flash is ok).
Great informative video thanks
amazing review, I'm a starter photographer and you answer all my questions and concerns. definitely going with the a 7iii thanks!
Hi Jared, lately it seems like you've been creating a lot of Sony based content since the launch of the A7iii, I am curious if you would experiment with using Sony for your own photography projects in the near or far future? Thank you!
I choose A7iii and invest Best Lenses.. Cheaper price and for video purposes I might prefer this one... thumbs up for this review
Great Stuff, Thanks Jared :)
Hi Jared! Great video! It would be nice to have a video about lenses for Sony cameras! What’s the status right now about best lenses for these cameras? (Considering also 3rd party lenses). Many thanks! Ciao!
Thinking of the A7 III for astrophotography. Good idea?
Hey Jared awesome video like everytime. Can you help me to select a camera model for professional fashion indoor/outdoor and product photography. I wanna make a kit. Need your suggestion. Thanks.
Great Review as always - I really like the information you provide in your reviews!!!! BTW: in 14 years of shooting DSLR cameras, I have never mistakenly shifted the mode dial so a mode dial lock is a non-event for me. I wish to heck that cameras had a dioptric adjustment knob lock because I tend to mistakenly shift that knob frequently and always need to ensure that it is correctly adjusted at the beginning of a shoot...
The A7ii is the one that I would choose based on the price and focusing system. However, I have seen Sony Refurb A7Riii cameras very close to the price of a new A7iii...
Fantastic comparison Mr. Jared
great video,i trying to figure out my next camera the Sony a7iii looks the best and cant beat thee price thanks,
A7III master race checking in
I just ordered mine. What lenses do you recommend for video and photography?
I'm not an expert man, it's my first Full-frame, upgraded from the a6000. I shoot landscapes/cityscapes so I'm waiting on the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 which is coming out the end of this month. The Zeiss 55mm seems amazing but doesn't suit my needs.
Waiting for mine to come in the mail. Looking forward to doing some Astrophotography and video with it.
What lens did you use for astro on it?
Roozbeh I ordered in a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8.
Hey Jared I have a question. I'm shooting portraits with canon t5i for about 3 years. Should I upgrade it to the new camera? And if your answer is yes, wich camera should I get?
I'm about to put 10k towards a A7 III. There's a few reasons why I chose that body to modify and by the time I'm done it will be a cinema camera. For video the A7 III, for photography the A7R III.
once the A7Siii is out, you'll be changing your mind about using your A7III for videos.
@@dangermanv6133 Lol
Havent watched a fro video for a long time....still see Jared hasnt changed his shirt....great vid BTW
Great review I'm just getting started and researched the A7iii for myself, the only draw back is no no flip out screen. I'll be doing a lot of self video & vlogging and that makes it just a bit more challenging. Any suggestions for a fix or comparison with a flip screen? Or is it that big of deal?
no big deal go for it best camera for video
Great review and vidéo But still really don't know which one would be best to use for Wildlife with my Canon long lens ??? I ha a Canon 1D x that is getting to balky and heavy so I looking for a alternative without losing image details and quality ???
The best comparison
I shoot with the a7iii, I get great images with prime lenses and meets all my portrait photography needs, and probably the easiest to get the images I’m looking for with little to no editing.
Nice video and I've learned a lot about it. But I have something not clear, what's the best batteries live for video and for witch camera is best for professional video? Please help. Thanks
What if you downscale a 42MP image from A7R III into 24MP produced by A7 III. I think the noise is almost the same. Furthermore, there are software options that will reduce the noise better on higher resolution. With A7R III you receive the versatility to crop more and reuse your APS-C lenses and good enough quality (resolution). Also these days A7R III seems to be much cheaper than before.
Fro knows!!! A7R iii FTW. Im in love , I want one so bad. Saving currently. Btw just picked up your 11 day class. Stoked to see how much I improve
Great review!
I bought a7III weeks ago and love it. I am former Canon and Nikon user so this camera is very dufferent. Now I want to build video setup so bought 55 f1.8 24-105 f4 G, gimbal crane plus, external monitor and cage.
Hi Jared, I do night cityscapes, general landscape, product, and some studio videos. Which camera is the best? Mirrorless, or I don’t mind DSLR. Many many thanks.
Which one should I buy? The sports action camera? The high resolution? Or the budget model? The answer is really in the question
Is the Sony A7R II worth it over a 5D mk III? Unfortunately I can't afford the A7 III with lenses on top. I shoot real estate and products professionally but would like to branch out into landscapes too.
