  • People have mentioned how good the story is but I also wanna point out how Steve's past is much longer and lasts a couple of months (because the seasons changed) while Alex's past was about a week long. It's a nice idea to show how Steve was introduced at the start of Minecraft and that's why he's had more time to master redstone contraptions and traps. Alex is relatively new to the game so she's more focused on advanced combat which was introduced later on in the game. I feel like it's a very nice touch.

    • late reply I know but I want to say based on how many times they changed I want to say at the bare minimal shown in the video it possibly could have been 8months to a single year shown and that's not even including how many days, weeks, or even months were skipped for all we know each season show except for spring could have been a year possibly longer

  • 4:48 This one shot just proves how lonely and delusional Steve has really become. He's nearing his breaking point. He had just lost the only thing that made him happy: a friend. He seems really hopeless and depressed, and he's undergoing a downward spiral that's slowly driven him insane the moment he realized his loneliness. Everything seems lost for him, that is until he finds Alex. At 5:17, Steve looks devastated and in complete awe once he realizes he isn't alone. Once he tears up, he's undergoing such joy and relief and true happiness that he's found someone to keep him company. Steve's insanity never really goes away after this however, as he can still be seen pulling off tortuous and unbelievable pranks on Alex in future chronological episodes. But it seems like Steve does have a soft spot for Alex, not just because she's the only thing keeping him slightly sane, but also because they are both in a world where danger is around every corner. Steve may be delusional, but he could be empathetic deep down, and the main reason it's not usually seen is because months upon months of loneliness and sadness can really change a man's mind.

  • This reminds me of that one video I watched a while back. Steve is in some technicality a god. He has immense knowledge and is capable of making items out of thousands of recipes and is a mastermind when it comes to complex contraptions, while also having the ability to shape the very earth however he wants to. But the underlying thing about having that power and knowledge is not being able to share and experience it with anyone. I remember a quote that stuck with me from that video: "Complete power, in exchange for complete loneliness" It's a quote that really makes you think how lonely singleplayer Minecraft can be. I also like this channel's depiction of what kind of characters these two are. Steve is more focused on automation and contraptions, while Alex is willing to put more muscle into it rather than brains (I don't mean that in a way that she's stupid, but in a way that it shows their dynamic and how well they work together. Steve is the brains, and Alex is the brawn). Also sorry if some parts sound weirdly worded, english isn't my first language lol

  • Even if he went into insanity, this is so touching to watch because half of what he does to Alex now all makes sense. Yes, he's a prankster with a lack of realization as to where the extent should go, but he was under so much isolation prior that he basically forgot that part of life. And he doesn't outright kill Alex for the most part, minus an explosion here and there, but mostly it's fun and games from the sense of someone who essentially lost their way

XD It's a great Dramedy tied up into a bow when you realize Steve went nuts from loneliness and now expresses friendship in pranks because nobody ever taught him right from wrong. Ironically his 'training regimen' does make Alex less trash at surviving just because of the sheer bullshit she has to survive just living around Steve too. They are great Yin and Yang.

That isolation and feeling of lonliness can really break you... When Steve found Alex, you can tell he felt like he was no longer alone. He was actually feeling joy in knowing someone sentient was in the world, and he tended to her to get her back on her feet. I hope a romance subplot starts real soon, and we see them really connect.

I also think Alex and Steve are two puzzle pieces of one whole. Since Alex was suffering from more or less being attacked and physically tortured by mobs and the environment while Steve from isolation and mental torture because of that. Wonderful mix and not making them exactly the same with their past. You are indeed a genius.

  • I can only imagine the shock, disbelief, but more importantly, the joy and happiness Steve must've been feeling when he first saw Alex. For the first time in who knows how long. He finally found another person in what was basically a barren world. Last video made me think that a part of the reason Steve picked on her was because he was training her to survive the harsh world of Minecraft. And while I still believe that's likely part of the reason. Now, I see he does it because he just desperately wants someone to interact with him. This was a great video and story telling. Can't wait to see where the next video takes us with these two.

I am sure we've been told this enough to get tired of hearing it, but humans are social creatures- we thrive on interaction with eachother, with friends, or family. When we're alone, truly alone, no-one for leagues across? our minds are INCREDIBLY fragile. In Isolation, You start trying to cope by keeping busy, you start counting days, you start searching for others, you try to make friends yourself- Questions begin to cloud your thoughts, as YOU are the only person you can talk to, and you start wondering 'can I keep going like this?'. Eventually, you begin to break down. Finding Alex was like finding a light at the end of the tunnel- 'I am not Alone'. That would be enough to keep you going.

  • This thought was percolating in my mind for the past few days, and now i share it here, and if a korean youtuber takes the idea and runs with it, i’d be honored he’d think it a good idea. My take on the legendary boogeyman of minecraft- Herobrine. Imagine this: Everything that happens in Steve’s past happens as it should, except for one detail that changes everything: he doesn’t hear Alex. Whether he missed her cries (and ends up with her sadly dying to spiders), or she never spawned into minecraft, steve slowly goes insane and moves up in targets of his pranks in a twisted sense of possessiveness (from Mobs and monsters, to Villagers). Then, on ONE BAD DAY (Villagers attempt to chase him away that, to his view, is a betrayal; or A Raid happens and kills the villagers) Steve, Snaps. Herobrine: rages. End result of Rampage? Either the minecraft world as a wasteland, or destroyed. By Broken means or Divine Intervention, Herobrine is sent to a new minecraft world with nothing but the Netherite sword that failed to be despawned with his sheer force of will, and his body unstablized to where this world cannot even see him, making him a ghost. From there, he would have gone even more insane as he was unable to get acknowledgement; except for the only two people who can see and interact with him: Steve and Alex. Herobrine: eyes blank with no pupils. Ragged clothes except for the Eminent shadowed sword that seems to be like it was made in hell. His personality is more of a tri-polar depressed troll. If he isn’t despondent and wandering aimlessly, he is pranking Alex and Steve… rather cruelly if the missing house or walls are any indication. Should something over Steve or Alex’s heads hurt them badly… that rage manifests as lightning as he annihilates anyone who would try to take Alex and Steve from him. At least, they are my thought on possible herobrine addition.

But playing with others is a purpose in it of itself. Doing things together, even with one other person, can prevent insanity as more possibilities for activities and encounters become possible, and achieving something actually means something when you have someone to show it to. Steve couldn't ask for a happier life now that he has Alex with him. And the two can now spend their days in Minecraft together, building, crafting, fighting, and all around having fun together.

  • Love how this is pretty much singleplayer, set in a world made for you to suceed in and nothing else.. hey that kinda sounds like an anime.. "Born in a World to Suceed in Alone." I guess it would be a gamer themed Anime, where the MC is killed early and taken out of pity to a new world where he is destined to surpass all of the dangers in. But since he was the only one who was killed, he was basically left in an empty feeling world full of empty minded hollow NPCs. At some point you see him Will Smithing with the NPCs, allowing the crazy to get to his head a bit and treat them like people to a crazed degree. Though you as the viewer begin to notice that the NPCs are slowly acting more and more human, which would be odd since they are made to be souless. Later on it gets to a point where the MC realizes that human nature was placed within the NPCs by what had to be another person "SOMEONE LIKE... ME?!" he would say, and he goes on this big quest to find this other human in the vast empty feeling world. Getting to later parts the MC learns that the villages had indeed gained a human level of intelligence and nature, the original hero that did so though had been gone from that specific village that the human ways eventually died out until re-sparked by the new hero who would be going through his journey and helping with figuring out ways for the NPCs to stay human-like for good even when they are gone. Skipping a bit to the end, the MC was wondering if this quest to find another person was simply a part of the worlds "pre-destined sucess" curse he has lived with, and if he is meant to find this other person only because it is a part of godly programming. He would then learn that its a no...... He does meet the person..... Honestly I didn't think this far lol. I wanna say he finds them already aix feet under, which would spark something in his brain that made him realize that he actually failed at something, and that the curse may not be as controlling as he thinks. Other side wants me to make it a "I met dah pwetty lady huhuh!" happy-ish end. And the other side wants to go with some cliche "take care of the world we made together for me" sacrifice which would then still play into the "I actually failed?" realization... Are you still here reading this? Go home, go eat something idk, go watch some cat videos or something. GO! SHOO SHOO!
