  • I think a big bucket of oobleck (non-newtonian fluid) would be super interesting as you have speed controls, I think at a low speed it would sink right in and displace it, but at a high speed would explode, but id love to see what actually happens

    • Look up Smashinator 5,000,000 vs non-Newtonian fluid

      @StephenMcGregor1986@StephenMcGregor198614 күн бұрын
    • Nothing much interesting would happen. Hydrostatically, oobleck behaves just like any other fluid. Only at high speed / high frequency do you get weird behaviour, but a hydraulic press is not at all the right tool to make that happen. BTW, "non-Newtonian fluid" is a pretty cagey description for the properties of oobleck, it's like describing wood as a "non-metallic material". The proper term is _dilatant_ fluid.

    @darkknight8139@darkknight813913 күн бұрын
    • You said aluminium and cast metal in 1 sentence. You are correct, just word it differently. Cast Iron has a very high carbon content so that's why it's so hard. And that's why it's so hard to weld, a typical welding rod is mild steel so you have to soften the Cast iron to red hot before you try to weld it or else the mild steel rod won't Fuze at all.
