This took a while to make - both the video and the model. I started in January 2021, and finished it late 2023. Or, finished it - there are modifications waiting, but that will be covered in future videos. It is the longest of any build I have done so far, but it is also the largest model I have worked on. As for now, it runs great and everything is holding up as it should.
I did learn a lot on this build and as usual there are things I would like to modify or change, or wish I had done differently, mostly regarding the turret. For now, it will do, however, and I hope it can be a source of inspiration for
anyone wanting to build larger remote controlled tanks.
I though I should go back to building smaller vehicles after this, but driving a big model seem to increase the fun by a square, at least for me, so we'll see what's next. :) There's that problem with workshop space, though...
All in all, I had a good time building it and editing this video, I hope you guys like it. Have a great start at 2024, I wish you all a Happy New Year!
Erik

It's awesome to see a well detailed, made from scratch home built system from nothing to completion. Outstanding work! Amazing
Thank you for watching and for those kind words! 🙏
I'm sad because there is not a culture like this in the United States. I built my own tank as well and there's no real place to show it off without traveling a huge distance. Excellent job! I'm amazed.
Thanks a lot, sorry to hear you miss like-minded people! I know there are a lot of Americans in the Facebook group "1/6 scale war vehicles only", perhaps that could be a good start? Plus, it turned out that within driving range from the place I live, there were more than a handful people interested in the same hobby, including one who built his own 1:1 tank. I had no idea about this until I started building and started to visit hobby exhibitions. So you never know, there might be guys out there with the same interest closer than you think. 🙂
What state are you in? I think theres a few tank groups still around in the midwest region. Not 1/6 scale+ specific more like 1/16 normal scales etc etc But yes Uk and all the neighboring countries over in the east have huge tank communities and RC gatherings.
@@FASTFPSGAMER That would be soooo much fun i wish i was in the Uk
This fellow Scandinavian really is proving yet again that you can make anything yourself with the knowledge and the right tools. 10/10 & Happy New Year!
Thank you, Happy New Year!
How much money to invest into those tools? Own house needed...so in fact a hobby for those who have no other problems...you shouöd say: if you have plenty og money everything id possible
@@cherchezlesoir7166 Well, I started to build my models when I lived in an apartment, and the tools are either cheap, bought used or inherited, so the money-value is next to nothing, although they are very valuable to me. There are plenty of ways to acquire cheap tools, if that's the only obstacles for getting into the hobby.
I really like seeing a photo of you in 1/6 scale standing in the commanders hatch; it adds a nice personal touch of realism to your work.
Haha, yeah, I'll keep him around to show the scale of the models, until I get a real 1/6 commander in the turret. :)
Excellent video, I really enjoyed the longer video in to your build of the Strv 105 Centurion, and it looks fantastic.
Thanks a lot, that's awesome to hear! 👍🙏
I did my military service on Centurion Strv 104 in the nineties. I must say you did an exceptionally good job getting the details on the model spot on. Watching the video brought back some memories 😊. Very nice job!
That's aweseom, thank you! Eller ska jag säga tack, då kanske? 😁 Så kul att höra från folk som har erfarenhet av de riktiga vagnarna. 👍👍👍

strv 105 is better.
Really great build. Have been considering a 1/8 snowcat build, you have me inspired

That is an amazing work of art. Incredible craftsmanship, attention to detail and skill. Well done!
Thank you so much and thanks for watching! 🙏🙏🙏
Like watching a kid with a Masters degree in engineering at work. Loved every second of it! Beyond impressive.
Haha, that's awesome and spot on, thanks a lot!
Until I see you using a hacksaw blade to make groove for the C clips, I thought you had a small hobby sized lathe. Yes, I did read the note thanking Sten for making the gearbox drive shafts, and they are very well made. I'm a retired machinist. I have a bunch of wood working machines, a Harbor Freight Hobby Lathe, and a couple years ago, I bought a used Bridgeport that needed repairs. It's been running for a while, and it's in good condition. I converted it to single phase using a new motor with the same RPM as the original motor. The only thing I'm not into is 3D Printing. I really enjoy watching you build your RC Vehicles, you are a very talented.
Thanks a lot for those kind words. 🙏 I got a small hobby lathe half way through the build, so it will be very handy in upcoming projects, but I must say I need to get at much better understanding of how it works to really put it to good use. Thanks for sharing, and for watching!
I love this model you did a really good job on it and I respect the amount of work that went into this I know I could never do something like this. Amazing!
That's very kind of you, thanks a lot for watching!

This is a wonderful thing, and I bet the people crewing that real Centurion were delighted by the baby 1/6 version.
Haha, thank you! And yes, it got some appreciation from people who had worked with the real deal. 😊
I've just found out about these incredible giant armour models, I'm in love, I was wondering where they came from, now I know. Awesome stuff.

That's so kind of you, thanks a lot and thanks for watching! Yeah, there are soo many cool vehicles to build! Too many! 😅
@@builtbyWikander T55, you already have the parts! I dislike "that country" and their politics, but would make great adversary! Thanks for motivation, you got me thinking "How could I make a M24 Chaffee with wood"??? 🤔🤔
@@robertmorey4104 Dude, that's aweseom! The Chaffee won't be that huge in 1/6 either, very reasonable size! It's 100 % doable. Yeah, I do have parts for a T-55, and it is a iconic vehicle, but as you said - I rather not give 'that country' anything for free. Perhaps it can be a DDR version, or a bridge layer. We had those here in Sweden in the 90:s.

As an Old Centurion Gunner/Driver Mk 10/11 , 1968-70, I'm amazed how good your detailed model is. The UK model didn't have a single slide over drivers hatch. It was a double flip over with adjustable sights. The single hatch only came with the Chieftains. The Centurion was modified for numerous countries and was a superb battle tank in its day, In the winter months when out on exercise, we always slept on the back decks as they where nice and warm with the RR Merlin engine running all day. That certainly brings back many memories. Ho, I still have a distorted finger nail when changing a road wheel dropped on my finger, ouch that hurt.
That's so aweseome, thanks a lot for watching and commenting!
Edit: I think the hatch is unique for the Strv 105. It also got new suspension, ir sight and the same engine gearbox as the M60.

I just stumbled across your channel, watched till the end only to come to the undeniable conclusion that... You, Sir, are more than the average scratch built RC Modeler! You are, in fact, a true Artist!!! 😊 I mean, the attention to detail is amazing! You had me wondering what you were going to use the brush for when you were cutting it up and then once you showed the final cut, I thought... "You were making a push broom." Talk about being wrong! I mean, who else would've thought to put a stationary boot brush on your tank? I am absolutely amazed with your work of art. Thank you for sharing 🍻
That's very kind of you, thanks a lot for those kind words! 🙏 Haha, yeah, we used that type of brush, or broom, on our vehicles to scrape mud off our boots. 😁 Thank you so much for watching!

The Royal Ordnance L7 105 Cannon was used in Centurion, Leopard 1 and Abraham early models and many other tanks. It was specifically developed to deal with the heavy armour on the then latest Russian tanks. Fantastic scale model model well done, so much detail and structurally sound. Three D printing brings a lot of possibilities. Fantastic.

stunning, stunning work…..the sheer amount of man hours and materials must be mind boggling…..I thought your Scimitar was good but this…..love to see you build a Chieftain Mk 9 as I was a gunner / crewman on one back in the 80’s in what was then West Germany. But if you only build one other tank please please PLEASE! build the Stridsvagn 103 ‘S-Tank’……with your skill and dedication it would be incredible to watch the hydraulic suspension working to elevate the gun……once again astonishing and outstanding work 🤙
