  • 04:41 that was an amazing point! You can't play too many points like that against Sinner and hope to beat him. It's HIS rhythm of hitting. I don't care who you are. Even prime Roger or Novak wouldn't outhit Sinner in (the majority of) rallies like this. To beat in-form Sinner, you need variety!

It's true that Federer thrived on faster hard courts and enjoyed rallies like that. What about his bh though? Could it stand firm in such baseline exchanges, and if it did, with what consistency? That doesn't mean Sinner overall is better than prime Fed. Ofc he is not! Not even close(as of yet)! I'm talking about sth very specific here.

    • Jannik continues to improve his tennis day by day, I think this is one of his best quality. In the last year he has improved in his service, in the variety of shots and physically. He doesn't think too much about results, he always thinks about improving all the aspects of his game. He has relative lack of variety compared to Alcaraz but tactically I think he is superior to Carlitos. However they are two champions and watching them play against each other is a lot of fun every time :)

    • No one can match alcarazs variety, not even federer.....honestly, I don't care....it is all about removing weaknesses in your game...in the past, sinner had weak serve and net game...he has improved both.....now alcaraz has revealed his weakness to slow balls.....but only the very best like alcaraz or novak can exploit that weakness.....but solution is simple, just use more drop shots against that strategy...and sinner does use drop shots but not as much as alcaraz.......

Sinner just has to find his rhythm and boost his confidence by responding with the same rythm and finishing the point with a winner ball. Good practice for Sinner who needed it lol! He arrives in the semifinal with his tennis back at a nice level. Maybe not his top but ok tier!

  • Tomas Machac has great potential, but you can't play so short, against players like Sinner. He has to be more agressive, and not only by hitting the ball very hard. Most of its shots were right in the middle of the court, and way to short to avoid Sinner's attacks.

From his 20 matches this year he has played just 3 tiebreakes ( very few) and he won 2 of them and just lost one against Djokovic. And since Usopen he has only loose tiebreaks against Djokovic , Medvedev and Shelton. And with Medvedev and Shelton he has won more tiebreaks that the ones he has lost against them. • Sinner really started sprinting to his left a fraction of a second before Machac impacted the ball. After the crazy defense to the right out of the court, Sinner first regains the center at medium speed, in an instant recognizes that Machac set himself up to hit the forehand inside out, so Sinner sprints to his left. It all happens so fast that the transition between his different steps is fluid.
