Being a Golden Retriever Owner I can tell that it's not as easy as it seems to raise a Goldie. Even though they are one of the most intelligent and gentle dogs, there are quite a few challenges that every new parent goes through. So I decided to share all the advice and tips for raising a Golden Retriever.
I feel like my golden is from a different breed. He might not be afraid to thunder, fireworks, or being left alone, but as soon as we get a bottle of hot sauce, he is terrified 😢
Same with my golden except hot sauce she can eat each and everything if it was possible
Lol
Hmmm might need to get a DNA test then
That dog just doesn’t like hot sauce
U should check out the vid how to know if ur dog is pure bred in this channell ull se it when ull click on the channel so u can see if ur dog is pure bred
My Golden is really brave, he isnt't afraid of any of the things listed in the video, except the hair dryer. He experienced his first New year's eve when he was only 5 months old, I'd had other dogs who would hide under the bed so I thought he would be scared too, instead in went out on the balcony to watch the fireworks. He is not afraid of thunder either and wants to go out when there is a storm. Loves car rides and enjoys visits to the vet (even though he's been operated twice) because he meets other dogs. So my Alex must be really special.
Wow, that is literally the same with my Golden as well. Beautiful and absolutely glorious dogs.
Lol my golden doodle is so similar, but if I raise a pillow, he runs out of the room
My dog loves the vet too… WHY?!
Lol my golden retriever named dodoo cheese is same as yours
I have been crazy about getting a golden retriever. Do you guys recommend it?
My 17-month-old golden retriever has never been afraid of any of those thing on the list. She’s a very confident little girl, but briefly she was afraid of a hula hoop. 🐾🐾🤣😂
Hahaha
Oh this is such a great video! Thanks SO much for sharing this, so informative!
So funny, my dog loves the blow dryer, won’t move for the vacuum cleaner and watches fireworks with us every year! He is afraid of random new things that will make its way in the house however….a house filter, luggage, a black bag….🤷🏻♀️
Great pointers! Our Golden used to throw up on car trips. We tried taking him on short trips to somewhere great. Eg. The dog park. Thankfully he is fine in the car now. You used the operative word ‘desensitise’. Thx again for an informative vid. 👏
Same here.
What a delightful video of cute animals! 😍🐾 It's impossible to resist the adorable charm they exude. From fluffy kittens to playful puppies, this video is a treasure trove of heartwarming moments.
Yes indeed😍 We're so glad you liked this video! Thank you so much for the Comment :)
This channel gives by far the best advice for keeping a goldie
Yes
i am so happy i found your channel keep up the great work
Another unusual fear……My Golden is fearful of his own reflection that he sees in a roof light window in the kitchen ( when it’s getting dark outside)he barks loudly and growls for several minutes!! I don’t react too much or scold him but calmly get him to sit…..slowly improving every evening🐾🇬🇧
I watch all ur videos and they are so entertaining, keep it up!
Thanks a lot. I am trying to take a Golden retriever and I got such an important information.
Thanks! I have a golden retriever. It’s very helpful!
I'm so glad that I could help :)
It's so nice to see how much you've grown! I remember when you guys just hit 20 subscribers (I was 10th)! And look where you are now! On the road to 100K! I know we can do it! 🐾
Yes...my golden has separation anxiety. Please make a separate video for it
Thankyou for the video I have a golden retriever and now I will try to avoid these things
Besides the separation anxiety, everything else really just came and went as far as fear. Separation anxiety tends to just get worse. Every noise is scary the first time. The more they hear it the more they ignore it. He didn't like the car because the only time he was in it was to go to vet. We started to introduce short trips to nowhere much, like just around the block, then to a drive through, then here or there so now he's good because not every car ride is to vet
I enjoyed this KZhead, thanks for your insights!
My golden retriever loves vacuum cleaner😆 He would chase and follow me all around the house when I am using it.
My GR is panic stricken by thunder and hides under my legs as I am usually online at my desk. She also refuses to go out if there is rain, or wet underfoot. Even drizzle upsets her and she won't go in the garden, she only likes going out for her bodily needs, even if it is a nice day, and then pulls quite hard to come home. Separation stress is only a problem if she is anywhere alone that is not home. She is fine at home, has the run of the house, and it is familiar. She had a hard start to life so I expect that is where her fears originated from. Good video, thank you.
Please make a video on separation anxiety in golden retrievers and how to work on it. Mine barks and howls for sometime, when we leave him alone.
Hi great video really teaches what can help you dog get over stuff He/she was scared of.
Our 11 year Riley loves going to the vet. Like all Goldens that we have had, he loves everybody. He is an “only” dog and meeting other dogs in the waiting area is an absolute thrill for him. His big fear is thunder and fireworks. We recently plugged in a Thunderease unit. We plugged it in when it was not thundering. He went over and sniffed/ inspected it and they laid down. The next day and for several days had thunder. He essentially slept through it, no panting or apparent anxiety. He was still leary about going outside when there is thunder, but so am I. Then came the July 4 weekend fireworks in our neighborhood. He was still anxious one night. People were letting them off for about three nights. The second night was the most intense and he was very anxious and threw up. The other two nights he handled them pretty well. Subsequent thunderstorms have been pretty much a non-event for him. Overall the the Thunderease vaporizer seems to have really helped. The advertising claims studies show 90% effectiveness and thus far, I think that seems to be about right. We had tried tranquilizers in the past. Usually we didn’t give them to him enough in advance and didn’t like the lasting lethargy for several hours afterwards. The Thunderease helped calm him but he still was alert and good natured.
My 18 month old Golden. Just loves everything
Haha your golden must really be brave :)
My golden retriever Trixie is so cute😍She has separation anxiety but she NEVER barks so she just whines even if I'm playing outside and mom is mowing the lawn and nobody else is in the house, Trixie will whine.😆
Please make that video about separation anxiety in goldens and how to work through it!
Yes we plan to make a detailed video on separation anxiety since its pretty common in goldens and even our Simba has experienced it in the past but just in case we have a video in that same genre - kzhead.info/sun/dsdtfNSxgX2HmoE/bejne.html . I hope were of any help! Thank you for the Comment😄
Thx for the information my golden is scared of everything
So true with the car one of my dogs are fine but the other one barks the whole time unless it’s with a certain person
umbrellas, loud music in someone's car... random things that we didn't really see to much when he was young, hes 10 months old now (another fear period) so watching out for new things. He just got over people in yellow vests.
Yes it totally depends on a particular dog, my simba on the other hand, won't be scared of things you just mentioned. He is rather scared of things like sound of a vacuum cleaner and a hair dryer.
I love golden retriver. 😍😍😍
It would be great help if u put a video on how to deal with separation anxiety My Golden baby has it
My dog is very scared of getting into a car , when we go inside he just starts barking in low voice and looks down coz many cars pass side. My dog is very scared of the bell in house. We have a small bell when we click a button it makes sounds , and when I keep it near him he just starts acting funny. 🤩 thanks for ur guide all the fears of my dog is there in this video and I was waiting for the guide 😊
And very thanks
I had a great golden mix and he got a little upset with some of these but not a whole lot. He didn't seem to have a problem with the vet ride and he loved riding in the truck or car
love them
please please please video for separation anxiety
Please do a video for separation anxiety for retrievers
Her: #1 thunder me:good thing there is no thunder here in my place
My golden loves the vacuum when we get it out her tail wags and she plays with it
Haha our simba used be scared of its sound but we used the same tactic mentioned in the video and now he is totally fine.
Our GR surprisingly goes in the car once the doors are open
I have lots of golden retrievers and bernese. None of the golden retriever's are scared of thunder but one bernese is. Her name is Lacy. When she here's thunder she runs straight to us for safety. Fire works are the same. Lacy is the only scared one. Vacuums are a bit different. The dogs aren't scared when its far away. When its close they are though. Blow dryers are the same. Our dogs are fine being in a car. At the vet. Most of our dogs are fine with it. Our dogs Maddy, Willow and Lacy are all bernese they can get a little scared. The goldens do good. All 14 of the dogs hate being left alone.
They all have different personalities. I had a Golden that used to hide in the shower or basement when it thundered or there was fireworks, and another Golden that slept through it all, even with windows wide open and crazy thunder or fireworks going off nearby. They both hated the vet and being alone though.
Can you guys please make a video for how to overcome the separation anxiety? I have an 11 month old golden. I haven’t been able to really leave the house without issues since we got him. I work from home as well which adds to the problem massively. It is a really big issue if you guys have some good tips wed be really grateful, trainers haven’t managed to really help us so far. 🙏
Yes seperation anxiety can be a problem for new dog owners and it is something many owners face! We would love to make a video on such a topic :) Thank you so much for the suggestion.
@@RetrieverCare great thank you! Look forward to watching it!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
My golden retriever is scared of a gate also he was scared of the vacuum but now he loves it
My golden is 4 months and loves almost everything you said they hate 😂
My golden doesn't care about thunder, us leaving, the vet, fireworks, and she LOVES the car. But the minute her ball is "stuck" on the heat register on the floor? "Game over Dad, I can't pick it up because of the lines on the vent." Lol... She's also terrified of laundry baskets.
Can you please make a video about the leg bends of goldies and how to avoid / cure it ?
Hey can you please make a video how to get rid of separation anxiety? Thanks.
We have a golden pupper around 8 months old and separation anxiety is really strong :/ we are trying to go through it but any tips would be great to know.
Please make a video for separation anxiety
oddly enough, my dog loves the vacuum and hair drier, she does the play bow and will occasionally try to herd the vacuum across the floor.
Do you have a golden retriever
my mini golden doodle is scared of everything she is such a deva but she is my little princess
Video on separation anxiety pls
please make a video on how to overcome dog anxiety
The only thing my dog is afraid of is being alone, and definitely the vacuum, he makes a huge deal whenever I leave, but he loves the vet and getting past the car to start a walk is almost impossible 😂 he literally will try to hop in strangers cars if the door is open like “okay where are we going!!”
I’m getting a golden retriever service dog for my PTSD. When loud noises happen suddenly, the dog will be one the soothing me lol.
I Would love u to do a video of Separation anxiety
Yeah sure! It is one of the major problems faced by both the owners and their dogs. Thank you so much for your suggestion :)
Please make a video on separation anxiety...
Separation anxiety please make a new video on it
Please make an Anxiety separation vid!
I have two dogs which are both boys and golden retrievers so this was very helpful and my dogs are kind of scared of balloons because like me they have a fear of the balloon popping
Never have a problem with thunder or fireworks but mine is afraid of the trash bin. He tries to run when he hears the sound of the wheel😂
My retriever is afraid of stool (that is used for sitting) Hehe....lol🤣🤣🤣
My golden at 18 months won’t go outside to pee. He runs to his crate and even with coaxing with treats if I get him out he starts to pee inside as soon as the leash goes on. HELP!! I’m running out of ideas and I feel so bad for him. He experienced a lightning and thunder strike when he went out to pre about 4 months ago. He has hated the outside ever since. I’m trying exposure therapy right now but getting him out of the crate is getting worse every day
All of sudden my gorgeous Goldie hates the ceiling wall fan - we live in the tropics and she could really do with it on, it was the first time I have tried it moving to the new house - she ran outside refusing to come in, and it's so hot here .....🤦♀️🤦♀️🤷♀️😓
nice helpful video
Glad it was helpful!
Can you mack a video about how to tack care of a golden retriever puppy
i have a golden retriever and she's scared of nothing she love's being with me
my sheltie is terrified of storms, and car rides. She doesn't like the vet office until he says all done at the end of the exam, then she calms down, smiles, and wags her tail.
I have a pit-bull black lab mix etc and she has separation anxiety
Some Golden Retriever afraid of umbrellas (big). Like ours. She's really terrified whenever we take the umbrellas.
My golden retriever loves riding in the car, loves going to the vet because he sees so many people that he loves oh, and he tolerates the hair dryer.
I love your dog Simba , pls share where do you bought him or share his details personally pls pls
My golden was not afraid of any of these things. He was calm and had an amazing temperament.
Pls make vid on separation of anxitey
My golden excited going to vet ... I don't know why, when she se the doctor like meeting old friends 😂
The nail grinder!
My golden was not afraid of thunder or car rides, in fact he absolutely loved to be in the back of the car (SUV) and have me drive with the wind blowing on him. He didnt like to be left alone and would bark--he knew when I was getting ready to go out and was very alert watching me. Didnt liek going to be groomed ot the vet! He would paw at me as if to say, "Let's get outta here!" He didn't mess with one cat I have--she wouldnt tolerate him and he knew she could scratch him. But she actually liked him more and more and would rub herself on him as he layed down. I miss my biuddy of 14 years.
Hey! Love your videos but I wanted to ask is it possible to keep a golden retriever outdoors? Like in my backyard but still take it for a walk everyday of course.
Golden retrievers are very social dogs. They like to be around their owners and people. Keeping them isolated might depress them. You have the right idea in regards to taking them for a walk
@@videohits4ever432 thank you for your comment I’m not going to isolate it since the weather here is really nice in almost all times we spend a lot of time outside (in the backyard) so that means playing with the dog a lot and yes taking it for a walk.
Any videos on separation anxiety pls. Tks
We have a video for How to leave your Golden alone at home - kzhead.info/sun/dsdtfNSxgX2HmoE/bejne.html but yes a video on separation is yet to come!
Haha. My dog likes going because she loves the treats and attention they give her.
My 8 months golden is biting me alot and I tried everything you said on tge other videos and I am too depressed about this
You said there are 3 types of golden retriever what type of golden retriever do you have@retriever care
My Golden She Was Afraid Of Earthquake and Nova But She Was Ok With Thunderstorm But she was good with thunderstorms
Please Mam can you make a video on the fear of left alone because I can’t take him everywhere and my relatives can’t take care of him every time so it will be very helpful please and thank you
My 4 month "Teddy" is scared of mixer sound and cooker whistle sound.
I don't have a golden retrievers but I do have this fear vacuum cleaner are my fear I go on height thing like my bed or a chou so I'm I half golden retrievers?
My 8 month old goldie (simba) had fear of all of these at some point, but now he has overgrown it all. But he never lets me vaccum the room or let airdry him cause he likes to eat the air coming out of it🤣🤣🤣 Edit- grammer
My 8 weeks Goldie whine if none of are in the loving room than goes to sleep after -10 mins. He hardly bark like 2- 3 times a just a bark though. He doesn't mind blowdryer. He is afraid of our cleaning bottle lol
My dog is a golden retriever his name is also bruno!
My lovely boy fears the fireworks and hates cars because he gets car sick. He feels the same about lifts/elevators and the ferry boats. He doesn't like bees either, as he got one stuck in his paw once and it freaked him out until we could get the buzzing thing free of his fur. He hates fireworks but is fine with thunder. Different type of noise.
Our golden doesn’t like the car but loves riding on the quad .
My golden retriever is afraid of drains 😂. Every time I try to get her to walk over a drain with me she either runs away, or pulls on the leash until I either go somewhere else, or her collar falls off and she just scotches away from the drain! But to be honest, the drain does have a load of holes that her feet may get stuck in!
Aren’t dogs highly sensitive to noise? Of which when a siren goes off, they howl because the noise is too intense.
My two golden boys are afraid of not getting enough loving despite getting it all day long.
My golden isn’t afraid of any of these things. The only thing that unnerves him is a trash bag sitting by the door when I am about to take the trash out. I can’t seem to get that one under control.
our golden retriever comes out and watches the fireworks with us at new year and ain't scarred of thunder either. i think ours is broken😂
Please make a video of what to do when sounds are loud in my house 🏠
My dog once heard a gun shot while he was 9 months he was so scared he kept crying so we made him feel better❤
