SHOW NOTES:
We are a better together family of 6 living in an 800sqft Shed to House Conversion and currently converting a 336sqft shed into a tiny house for our new studio! Oh yea, we are doing our best to build a sustainable homestead in central Texas raising pigs, chickens, and rabbits…. and hopefully more!!!!!

I love this! It's another wholesome family saying, "Hey, it's ok to buy things from the store, to eat what you can, when you can. Sometimes during the busy seasons, just buy food, and enjoy the time together." Also I love to see what are some other options at Costco 😉. Thanks for another great video!
You are soooooo right!!!! You got the point of the video!! THANK YOU!!!!!
This is probably the happiest Family I have ever seen, the members are very happy to participate in all work, I feel that you always create such a warm atmosphere! love Your Family❤
You are so kind
As a native New Yorker, the first time I ever walked into a Whole Sale club was OVERWHELMING. it was the size of 2 city blocks in the suburbs. To this day I still get anxious/ agoraphobia when walking in.
Thank you for a bright spot in my morning.
Yay!!! Thank you for telling us that! It is our goal for every video this year!!!!
It's not the groceries themselves that we love, but how real you are about them.
Oh yay!!!!!!!! Haha. Thank you so much!!!
Love this video. Especially the dinner on the porch and what it means to your family
Oh thank you so so much Cathy! Yup, you get us!!! And thank you for even watching until the end! Haha. Not everyone does that. So thank you!!
I wish my town had a costco. We only have a Sam's. Nice haul. Amazing that it takes a thousand dollars today for what cost a hundred dollars 20 years ago. I wish my pay would have went up 10 fold over the past 20 years.
It’s insane, that’s for sure! And yea, we also have to drive an hour to get to Costco. So we always have to make the most of it!!
We all need those quick meals from time to time! Thank y’all for keeping it real!
Any time!
I really loved this video. I know you said its not exactly what you wanted to show but your transparency is awesome. Thank you.
Oh wow THANK YOU Aaron!!! So kind!!!
"Welcome to Costco, I love you."
Hahaha, is that in the video and I didn’t notice?
@@BetterTogetherLife It's a line from the movie "Idiocracy"
Hahahaha!!!!! YES!!!! I totally forgot about that line! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great movie, and some of our college friends were extras in that movie when it was filmed here in Austin.
@@BetterTogetherLife If you're referring to Austin, Texas, I live near there.
No way?!! We went to Texas State in San Marcos, so Austin was like our big brother city! 😁 Still have family that lives there.
Thanks for the encouragement! We have been trying to do the whole from scratch everything and it is too much all at once. So this video was very helpful ☺️
Absolutely Amanda! Some seasons you just need to survive. 😁👍🏻
I had no idea Costco carried so much Organic food! I loved this haul video.
Haha, yea they have a good selection for sure!!!
I love your outlook, eat what you can grow or buy! 😊
Absolutely Lesley, you get it!!!!
Can you show your outdoor building pantry? I just had your video pop up and I clicked on it. I have considered doing that but how do you handle excessive heat or humidity with an outdoor building holding groceries?
Hi Jamie! Thanks for the comment and question. We might not have explained it well. We don’t have an “outdoor pantry”. We have an additional office space that has some storage that we use for our food storage. Sorry.
life is about doing the things you love. I will continue to try to grow great vegetables instead of picking what makes more sense. I can grow and sell flower plants well enough that I can buy the greens and fruits. but I WANT to grow what I eat. I can bake bread but I love the sourdough from the supermarket so why bother. spend your time and energy where it matters.
I love this Nini!!!! So true. We need to figure out growing flowers this year!!!!
Sorry your kids had to go to hospital 😢. Thefist time I went to Costco I filled 2 carts! You don't have to justify your food intake! Even the Rhodes by covenants foods🤔. They plan to try and grow everything but Rebekah is still buying humas and chips. Will they really make there own corn chips,we shall see🤭. JO JO IN VT 💞
Thank you, yea it’s been a rough year. But we are just moving forward!
Love your beautiful family! Great haul. Much WI love! Karen ❤🙂
Haha, thank you Karen!!!
Happy all is well with kiddos and you two! Our problem is half eaten apples or cores laying around 😒. We have six kids 10 -1yr old. Life is fun with a homestead 😊
It is always fun for sure!! And yup, those half eaten fruits is why we have the chickens and pigs! 🤣🤣🤣
@@BetterTogetherLifeBecause turning food waste into bacon & eggs is totally awesome! 😎
Hahaha, you know it David!!! Also thanks for the comment. Haven’t seen you here in awhile. How’ve you been?
My favorite breakfast is last night's dinner.
Same!
Wish I had a nearby costco. There is only like one in mississippi 😂
If you ever are wanting to turn that flour into bread flour, you can just add bread gluten haha 4:45
Love this ❤
Thank you Dolly!!
I guess it's social media that has brought homesteading up to a "prestige" way of living, all home grown, made from scratch. If you aren't not eating organically, then you are not doing what is healthy etc... I'm 59 and grew up on margarine, white bread, etc. I was probably 33 years old when I started thinking about food in a healthier way, like real butter, whole milk. Food that is grown organically, I just came aware of in the last few years and I see how beneficial that can be. But, I wouldn't sweat it, if you can't eat that way all of the time. Just do the best you can when you can.+
I personally love canning but my garden skills suck. I purchase my vegetables and stuff from local farmers. I will get seconds and then can them. I have a local farmer that I get milk from and my cousin raises beef on grass and I get meat from her. Do the research on Annie’s Mac and cheese. It is not good.
Annie’s Mac and Cheese….. yea, it was a bad choice. 🤦🏼♂️ My bad.
@@BetterTogetherLife so many of the things that used to be good have been purchased by the big corporations and turned into crap. It sucks when the government protects those that I believe are trying to kill us
Hi, just found your channel, we (family of soon to be 10 in july) are looking for land to start our own homestead journey. Just wondering does your husband still work outside the farm? If so what does he do?
So glad you’re here! We have a few streams of income that keep us both able to work from home; KZhead, essential oils, digital products, and some investments.
Adrenal cocktail? Is there a video?
Haha, hi Elisa!!! I am not sure. I think the main thing is coconut water, salt, and orange juice. We then put in an extra product from doTERRA called MetaPWR. It just hits the spot when you are outside working in the heat!
So sensible and I bet less waste. Why not get the kids to share a banana?
Haha!!! We try, and usually one of us end up eating the left over banana. Plus, our kiddos are wonderful and beautiful goofballs and don’t like eating after each other. 🤦🏼♂️ BUT! Bananas never go to waste here! Either frozen for smoothies, or freeze dried! And of course the peels always go to pigs and chickens. 😁
Psalm 13:6 King James Version 6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. Gods blessings over you ,
Are yall safe from the wildfires???
We are central and so far north Texans are really suffering. We don’t expect much beyond smoke that drifts our way. Thank you for asking!
