Not to mention the priceless tag on keeping your family healthy.
Absolutely!!!
Goldie is priceless family member 🙏🏼👍
Absolutely!!!! 😁😁😁
Do not forget the peace of mind in knowing where your food comes from and what is in it. Their is also that the taste is so much fresher and better than store bought. Their is also the satisfaction that "You did this". Very rewarding. It is not just the cost of raising and producing but so many other bi-products that you get from it as well.
LOVE THIS Joyce!!!! Great points!!! Thank you!!!!
My hat is off to you guys. Owning a cow is sort of like owning a boat. It's one of those things many people might romanticize, but in reality it's probably better to just be good friends with someone who has one and just regularly show up with gifts. 😄 That's why farmer's markets are so great. 👍
That’s such a great analogy 😂. God bless the farmers market!
Love your t-shirt! I agree! Beautiful Spring to you , your family & homestead…beautiful Goldie morn! Sweet dreams & Cheers to you!😊🌿🪺🌷👍🏻
Oh thank you, which shirt? I can’t remember. 🤣
Have you watched Homesteading with the Zimmermans? Ruthann recently posted a video on making cheddar cheese. :)
We do watch her!! She is so great!!!
I'm new around here. I love the humor 😂 i totally got the Wednesday joke
Oh yay!!!! Thank you so much for joining us!! We certainly try to keep it fun. Very nice to meet you! Please tell us a bit more about you and your homesteading interest!
Oh and also we would love to hear how you found us? Was it this current video about our family milk cow and raw milk recipes? Or another one? Thanks again!!
@@BetterTogetherLife yes I'm a wife, mother of 3 I have blog about from scratch recipes and motherhood tips. Ive been looking into homestead for a few years now, finally got my husband on board last year. So we're planning on making our move from the city. I grew up in the rural south and deeply feel the need to return. I found your channel from search results on KZhead about building a shed home, then was suggested this Cow Milk Video. I'm very interested in eventually having my own cow and becoming more food sufficient. Til then I'm looking for a good Dairy Farm near me. Your videos are very helpful
That is awesome!!! Love it, way to go!!! It’ll be the best decision you ever make! And thank you so much letting us know how you found us, it is super duper helpful!
I love the video. I wish I had a cow. Since it is not possible I buy raw milk from a lady who has a cow. Delicious 😊 Thanks for sharing ❤
THANK YOU!!!! Way to go for buying raw milk in your local area!! That is the best thing you can do! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
Woooo, Mean Girls reference, so funny! (Also, I finally have a workday with no meetings so I'm binge watching to catch up on the Brotherton homestead.)
Yasssss! I knew my people would know! I hope we did justice to your day off 😂
I absolutely love your humor and valuable information of course 😂❤😂❤
I'm so glad!
In my area, raw milk (not even guaranteed A2A2) is $8 per gallon. So, with a large family you could reasonably say you broke even.
Some folks are even saying $10-$15! Thanks for commenting!
Thank you happy resurrection day❤
Happy Resurrection Day to you too Brent!!
You get to amortize up front cost of cow and fencing over years.
Very true!
🐝Thanks for the great video🌻
So nice of you
By having Goldie not only are you providing many different types of food but your children get to see help and care for a beautiful animal and animals give so much without them realising Happy Easter ❤😊
Amen!!! Thank you Yvonne and yes happy Easter to you also!!!
@@BetterTogetherLife❤
Hitting us like a bus with that Mean Girls reference
🤣🤣🤣 I did not think that ANYONE would understand this joke! Lol!!!
SUCK ON THIS, beau! -kelly
Please share that coffee yogurt recipe!!
Deal!!! We’ve been talking about making more cooking videos. So please stay tuned for that espresso yogurt one! 😁
@@BetterTogetherLife I love watching recipe videos! Especially if they're from a homestead with real food
@@TheBabcocks yay!!!!! Well then that is coming your way!! Hopefully next week! And yup, lots of raw milk and SOURDOUGH recipes!!! 🤣🤣
I think it is cheaper. You spent 9000 dollars, but in my area of Texas to get raw milk, that's A2, the going rate is between 10-15 dollars a gallon, depending on who you buy from. So good job, I think even with the fencing and vet bills that may not happen every year, it's definitely worth it!!
Oh yikes, yay for A2 it would be pretty expensive. That makes sense. Goldie isn’t a2a2, she is something different with a higher cream count. Her milk is almost a quart of cream per gallon!! 😁😁😁
Nicely Done, try buying those things at the market, woah sky high!!!. Happy Easter ✝️🐦🌷🐰. JO JO IN VT 🇺🇲
Awesome
Thank you Peter!
Wednesday, we wear pink, and my Dad is the investor of taster strudel
🤣🤣🤣🤣 What is this movie?!???
she knows what it is! 😉 YESSSSS! -kelly
This video is teasing for anyone who's lactose intolerant. But I've also never tried raw milk. Is it easier or the same on your digestion as store bought?
Excellent question I’d like to know the same thing
Gosh! I’m so sorry! 😂 I hadn’t quite thought of that demographic 😂. I do think raw milk is easier to digest when someone is specifically lactose intolerant. The enzyme lactase is present in raw milk and it naturally aids in digesting lactose. But start small with raw milk. A cup a day and see how your body does. We are all unique.
It just came out that 1 in every 5 samples of store-bought milk contains elements of bird flu. Uh... milk from your own cows is priceless.
Yikes!
Would love a cow but as I have a family history of Cancer I worry about Bovine Leukosis Virus--and 80% of US dairy cows are infected so is it even possible to prevent?
From what I’ve read, prevention isn’t a focus. But detection is. It’s a simple blood drawz
For perpetual stock, do you keep your stove on overnight?
I don’t. If I make it on the stove, low simmer for 10-12 hours. But it’s hard to be inside that long. So I’m often making mine in the instant pot.
You cannot put a price on food security
💯!!!! Love it and thank you!!!
I tried making yoghurt from raw milk but it ended up like cottage cheese! I don’t know where I went wrong! I now use my instant pot and UHT milk, success every time…😂
Oh really? It’s been the easiest thing to make for us! Instantpot is a single button push. Now, depending on the “starter” you use, we have had it come out a little gritty. But then we just use the immersion blender and it comes out silky smooth.
@@BetterTogetherLife I didn’t think to blend it! I use freeze dried yoghurt bio sachets. I buy them in France, they are amazing. I’ve found 16 hours is the optimum time for the best tasting yoghurt.
Love it!!
Mean Girls, of course haha
Yasssss! You GO, Glen Coco! ❤️
"Could my family drink $9000 of raw milk?" When I was a kid, if we had milk in the fridge on the last day of a holiday, Mum would get us to drink it as not to "waste" the milk. Thinking of having to drink $9k of milk is like a nightmare!! 🤮
So you don’t like milk I assume?
For us its not cheaper. We have no grass because we're in the high desert. We have to feed all year. But is it worth it? Absolutely. In our state there is NO RAW milk. Not within 5hrs of us anyway.
A Lot of those costs were a one time cost though. Don't need fencing every year for instance.
You are totally correct!!! And yes, hopefully next year will be way less! 🤣
Mean Girls 😜🩷
Yessssss
