I think the fact they are both Mexican plays into this. I expect the fight to light up early and I see Canelo stopping Munguia rounds 6-8.

Its sad when Canelo has fought so many legends and dozens of really good names yet some forget all those and single out Benevides. Look at these names. Cotto, Mosley,GGG, Mayweather, Bivol, Lara, Kovalev, Jacobs, Khan, Plant, Saunders. I want the Benevides fight just as much as anyone but if we dont get it we have to admire what the man's done over an incredible career.

In a few years time nobody will be saying Canelo ducked Benavidez. He’s an all time great
Depends what Benavidez does in his career. If he becomes a superstar and dominates at Light Heavy or whatever people will still say Canelo ducked him for years to come. If Benavidez goes up and loses to the likes of Bivol, Beterbiev or anyone else they will say he wasn't that good so who cares if Canelo never fought him. Facts remain though, Canelo is clearly avoiding him. And I like Canelo, but you need to call a spade a spade 🥊👍🏼
Partly true imo but ngl this whole Benevidez duck thing is way bigger than I thought it was, especially amongst big chunk of the latino fans which is what matter most to Canelo, it's gained a lot of traction over the past year & people won't forget it. Heck Floyd fought Canelo but people still mention who 'he was young & he picked him early' etc lol. Shame cause Canelo was known for the complete opposite, but equally there's 0 reason he shouldn't be fighting David.
I think it is fair to say that Jaime Munguía has taken more damage and blows to the heads than Canelo considering his lack of defense I believe when your defense is blocking punches with your face in every fight

Agree with Rob, people would be amazed if they saw the division & fall off in support of Canelo from his usual core base/wider latinos. Big part of why the Benividez duck memes & narrative has generally become HUGE in the past few months. This will hurt his legacy if he doesn't fight him, albeit he still goes down as a great especially for boxing hardcore. But latinos don't forget. Heck people still question Mayweather even though he fought Canelo they bring up him fighting him too soon as a bad point lol. Sad reality is Canelo gets paid x irrespective of who he fights & even though he's slightly fell of commercially from his peak all the broadcasters happily take a loss just for the numbers he drives/gives the perception you're doing well hence DAZN/PBC love him.

I think Barry could be right. You all make valid points about Canelo potentially calling it a day. Forgive the analogy, but boxers are like cars. It's not their age, it's the miles on the clock. And Canelo has got a LOT of miles on the clock and had some punishing fights over the years regardless of getting the W's!
Finally all the 'casuals' have gone and stopped crying about Andy's very valid points about Garcia. Back to real boxing chat with real boxing people.
